Government to aid farmers and ranchers

Council Bluffs, Iowa (CNN) – President Obama mixed business and campaigning on Monday, holding a rally and an official event on the first leg of a three-day bus tour across the Hawkeye State.

After delivering his campaign stump speech here at Bayliss Park, the president and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack stopped by a drought-ravaged farm in the Missouri Valley to officially announce a new initiative to aid farmers and ranchers.

  1. yes we can

obama will spend $150 million to build a plant to employ 1,500 people to produce water from the dry soil. it may take a while but the government is sure it can be done. solyndra was just a fluke. and all you people that don't agree are just racists anyways.

Adopt the Ryan plan and these farmers would be out of luck. To partially pay for eliminating taxes interest, dividends, and capital gains (windfall for the wealthy), Ryan would gut all federal spending other than military and social security.

    Romney/Ryan – Wrong for America

Notice how many "Red States" are asking for a government handout.

Hey Mitt, the American People want to see your tax returns for the last 20 years to see the tax rate you paid. We also want to see how many jobs you off-shored and how much money you have in off-shore accounts evading taxes.

If they can ok an oil pipeline, why not a water pipeline. Build a big hole in the ground, get a well, get a stick that detects water sources.
It is a bad idea to put your money into Mother Nature when no one can predict rain.

We need a President Obama because he cares. He addressed Congress' inaction on the farm bill. I haven't heard a peep from Willard and Paul. The President addressed voter surpression. Willard went to a NAACP Convention and didn't even mention it. The President addressed cutting our deficit in a RESPOSIBLE manner while Willard and Paul just want to slash, slash, slash.

does obama just have a big money bag that he carries around with him like a skinny black santa claus??? is that where he keeps the legendary obama stash? he seems to have money for everybody except those that actually make the money and are forced to send it to him under the threat of jail.

When Red States find themselves desparate due to situations out of their control, they go to federal gov't for a handout then turn around and vote for less gov't in the election. It's ironic isn't it? Go ahead repuglicans and vote against your own interests. Just remember that Romneyhood will make sure there is no future handout when you need it the most. But of course, you think that global warming is just a myth made up by Democrats and that God will provide rain so that the gas drilling can continue unabated. See any contrdictions in your repug thought processes? Think you won't be needing a handout again next year and all the years after that as your states water continue to dry up or be poisoned? If you are a true conservative who believes in reducing gov't, then have the guts to stand by your convictions and refuse to accept a handout. Let the capitalist markets determine if you will suceed or fail as a farmer. Pray harder for God to ignore your blatant disregard for the environment He created.

Let me get this straight, Republicans submitted a bill to help the victims of the drought more than 2 weeks ago and Obama had not approved it until now.

I have yet to see Romney attacked because he is white or even his race being brought up and even if that IS the case then as you say goose meet gander then I say two wrongs DON'T make a right.

BTW Obama is only HALF black you riighties tend to forget that when you want to use race as a form of attack.

Wait, aren't these guys Midwestern farmers that do not agree with "government bailouts" and want smaller government?

Sorry, no help as it will add to the deficit.

Funny, how folks are against bailouts until they are for them!

Bush had a bigger money bag and no debt - look at the waste in THAT 8 years that we now owe for and have to make the payments on or lose our credit rating. Reagan wasn't much better, so don't start with that old crap.

Romney and Ryan won't talk about climate change in a rational way .

They are like arrogant dinosaurs .

It's going to be a very bad fire season , maybe they can cut funding for that too.

I thought the people in some of these red states didn't want the federal government in their lives. It's funny how when in need we forget what we said before to get help.
I am glad that the President is stepping up to help these farmers. One thing we can't control is weather. They, on the other hand, can control who they vote for come November.
