Romney won't name differences with Ryan on Medicare

Miami, Florida (CNN) - Mitt Romney sidestepped questions Monday about any differences he and Paul Ryan might have on Medicare reform.

"We haven't gone through piece by piece and said 'oh, here's a place where there's a difference,'" Romney told reporters on an airplane tarmac in Miami. "I can't imagine any two people even in the same party who have exactly the same positions on all issues. but my plan for Medicare is very similar to his plan for Medicare."

Romney's views on the government health care program came under renewed scrutiny after he chose Ryan to be his running mate Saturday. Ryan, the House Budget chairman, authored a Republican budget plan that proposed overhauling the popular entitlement program for the generations younger than 55 who are not yet enrolled.

Democrats have attacked that proposal, saying Ryan - and now by extension, Romney - would dismantle Medicare.

In the past Romney has voiced his support for Ryan's plan, but an internal memo leaked to CNN pointed out to surrogates that Romney's and Ryan's plans differed.

On a visit to Florida Monday, Romney found himself besieged by reporters' questions on the issue. But he would not describe any differences he and Ryan had on the program or whether voters were ready for the kind of overhaul Ryan had suggested.

"I can't tell you about the politics of something like the Medicare issue but I can tell you about the truth," Romney said. "And the truth is we simply cannot simply continue to pretend like a Medicare on track to go bankrupt at some point is acceptable. We must take action to make sure that we can save Medicare for coming generations."

Oh wait, that's a lie because my talking points should be like Ryan's – Have No Fear
Hold Up – As far as the budget, mine is different from Ryan's because I'm on the top of the ticket
But wait a minute – I LOVE Ryan's budget because the Koch brothers told me Ryan's is WICKED!
You know – everyone needs to get it straight – I'm the P and Ryan is the VP – that's the bottom line
But when I introduced Ryan as the P I also noticed he was NOT wearing a tie – so I took off mine!!!

Romney already endorsed Ryan's plan to privatize Medicare, and he can't flip-flop away from his record.

Romney either supports the radical House budget or he picked the wrong VP candidate. Mittens owns the issue now and as a senior, I no more trust his comments about the current receipents not being impacted than I trust the GOTP to actually believe the first paragraph of the US Constitution. We used to be a great country when it was "we the people,,," but now it teh GOP wants it to read "we the rich and the rest of you serfs"... abnd forget the rest.

Romney never reveals how he feels about anything or how he will do anything. Romney is trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Romney is trying to hustle his way into the White House. Romney knows that if comes clean about what he intends to do as president America wouldn't elect him president. So Romney keeps his mouth shut about what he will do as president. Romney hopes to run a campaign of many promises but no details. The question is are you voters foolish enough to fall for the Romney hustle.

It's really quite simple and very similar to all of Romney's plans. It's the YOYO plan.

Romney couldn't or wouldn't say what he bought at a hardware store 5 minutes after he bought it, so why would we expect him to know and articulate what differences he has with the Ryan plan? I don't even expect him to know what the Ryan plan is.

In any case, I don't think Romney would even tell you what day of the week it is - because he just feels like it's unnecessary and demeaning to answer questions from people who are beneath him.

Mitt Romney said he will back Paul Ryan's HR 3805 bill that will ban all birth control and abortions in the United States of American if they are elected. That means millions of women will die thanks to these two radical people.

I recall the "Gaff man" Biden didn't exactly agree with Obama on much, along with Hillary and Bill, so what is the big deal if Romney and Ryan don't agree on everything?

Romney needs to make clear statements about his positions and stop making generic statements about how people agree or disagree if he expects to get independent voters. He should also explain why he scrutinized many years of tax returns as part of his veep vetting process when he declares his own tax returns as not relevant.

No one is going to be taken in by the Republican plan to replace Medicare with a voucher system. Medicare guarantees your treatment (like insurance should). A voucher doesn't guarantee you anything. And once people under 55 have no more stake in supporting Medicare, it won't take long for folks to realize that they won't want to pay for it anymore. That will cost the Republicans Florida – and the election.

I don't think that there is much of a difference. Neither of them really want the government to do anything but support the wealthy.

Of course he won't name the differences. Just like he won't list specifics for most of his ideas. Just like he won't release his taxes. This guy just wants us to accept that he'll do the right thing for us without letting us know what he thinks is the right thing.

He means to tell me that he endorsed the Ryan's plan which by his own admission he hasn't read. My guess is he's lying. He's just waiting to find out what part of the plan seniors and future seniors don't want to swallow. He's predicting that he won't agree with Ryan on everything without knowing exactly if and what he'll disagree with. Buyer's remorse anyone?

The people he, and his chosen running mate, are most concerned about (the wealthiest 2%), have no need for Medicare, social security,, dental benefits, or even a job. That's why they have no thought or real concern, for the plight of the common man or woman. And, if continuing to give the tax break to the wealthiest people is the only way to save the economy, then why did the economy go downhill at all, since those same saviors of the economy have been getting those tax cuts for eleven straight years. The GOP proposal would stop the tax reduction for the hourly worker, taking away an average of $875.00/year, while giving the person who makes $3 million/year, $250,000.00 extra. The sad part is, they've convinced a lot of common people the tax cut for the wealthy is absolutely necessary to the survival of our economy. Give money to the working people, who make less than $100,000.00/year, and they will put virtually every dime back into the economy. Give it to the wealthy, and they stithereck it back with virtually nothing back into the economy. There were 13 billionaires on average, every year before the Regan tax cut for the wealthiest people. In 1986 that doubled to 26. Today there are 413 billionaires and 3.2 million, multimillionaires in America.
