Romney assails Obama as "intellectually exhausted"

Chillicothe, Ohio (CNN) – Mitt Romney looked to seize the offensive in his campaign against President Barack Obama Tuesday night with a hard-charging and sustained attack on the president’s leadership.

Calling Obama “intellectually exhausted,” Romney charged his rival had made “wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the presidency” and failed to live up to the promises he made as a candidate in 2008.

“Another outrageous charge just came a few hours ago in Virginia,” Romney said of Vice President Biden’s warning that Romney would put them “back in chains.”

“And the White House sinks a little bit lower,” he said.

Romney’s speech on the streets of downtown Chillicothe – the last event on his swing-state bus tour – was elaborately produced. The campaign blocked off several city blocks and hung a giant flag behind the site where Romney would emerge from his campaign bus to be greeted by throngs of supporters waving signs and flags.

On-stage, Romney cast himself as a patriot who would return America to its heyday of prosperity.

“Everywhere I go in America there are monuments that list those who have given their lives for liberty,” Romney said. “There is no mention of their race, their party affiliation or what they did for a living. They lived and died under a single flag fighting for a single purpose. They pledged allegiance to the United States of America.”

Romney continued: “So Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago and let us get about rebuilding and reuniting America.”

The speech came as Romney’s campaign released a TV ad attacking Obama on Medicare – a hot-button issue Democrats have aimed to wield against Romney after he chose Paul Ryan as his running mate. Ryan authored a controversial plan in the House to reshape Medicare for those under age 55.

A spokesman for the Obama campaign immediately fired back at Romney's speech, in another sign the Romney-Obama battle was quickly turning more negative.

“Gov. Romney’s comments tonight seemed unhinged, and particularly strange coming at a time when he’s pouring tens of millions of dollars into negative ads that are demonstrably false,” said Obama campaign Press Secretary Ben LaBolt.

Wonder when Romney will deliver a "Silent Majority" speech. The way he side-steps the issues reminds me of old Tricky Dick Nixon. At least Nixon paid his taxes.

The only exhaustion that somebody like Obama would have would come from having to deal with Morons like the Rawmoneys of this world who have neither intellect nor integrity. SAD

The last President to make totally crude "Intellectually Exhausted Remarks" before Obama was Harry Truman. Obama is out of "Aces" Can't wait until November.

What a big cry baby this rich guy is. He bounded on president Obama, endlessly with lies, slander and total disrespect and then he "swift boated" his fellow republican candidates and crushed them under his 2.5 hundred million dollar campaign machine. And now he is crying because President Obama is taking him to school of hard knocks. Romney is getting counter punched at every turn. It is a well known fact when a fighter start complaining about the fight, that means he is losing and losing bad. That's right Obama, you got him against the ropes. Don't stop and don't let up on the twit and when he falls kick him and then kick him again. Romney is weak. Period.

Intellectually exhausted, what a laugh! This coming from someone whose has not owned up to nothing, flip flopped at every turn, says nothing but words about ideas with no substance, promises everything but will not be nailed down on nothing but GOP talking points, owned by the Tea Party and Koch brothers, will not run on his record as Governor of Massechusetts, or CEO of Bain Capital when the cover is pulled back, neither will he reveal his tax returns for more than 2 years, only to John Mccain (10) years worth and not to the American people! AND HE TALKS ABOUT TRANSPERENCY! WHAT A CON MAN!

Romney is just jealous that President Obama actually has an intellect, something Romney and especially Ryan are sorely missing.

Romney is desperate. He knows he is a 65-year old out of shape exhausted man and he is praying Ryan can do some of the physical work for him. He hates that Pres O is so much younger and active. Intellectually exhausted? Not on your life Romney.

Romney is a jerk how can he talk about speaking in code when he tells the President of the US where to go let him say it to the President's face. He can't think intellectually because if he could he would not have chosen Ryan with all his baggage what a mess.

You can not fool seniors if there is one thing that they know and respect is Medicare they have worked all of their lives and paid money into this program and now you have a person as young as his son who wants to dismantle it they are walking in a hornet's nest. There is no way Romney can get around this he embraces this plan.

Romney- Negitive ads that are about what Obama has done in the past based on facts or entirely factual. Obama- Personal attack ads that demonize Romney's charecter whether or not it is true. See the diffrence?

Gov. Romney does not only seem unhinged, he is unhinged!
A peek at his campaign shows clearly what “intellectually exhausted“ looks like! And I do give him that it must be frustrating to feel that the people are just not buying the crap he tries to sell.
The President just keeps his cool, has class, determination, smarts, great ideas, and the strength of character to work for his convictions to help people – despite the GOP sabotage strategy – all the characteristics needed to positivly lead the US, Romney (despite his money -or because of it – where are your tax-returns???) and Ryan (GOP-TP) are so obviously lacking!!

Mitt Romney is just hypocritical. He has done nothing since he started running but trash talk Obama. If you were to do a video showcasing his campaigns, I can garuntee you he trash talked or spoke of obama about 90% more than he talked about his own plans. Thing is Obama is picking up after the Bush Admin destroyed america and it's not easy when you are picking up piece by piece with your bare hands. I believe that if Romney won it would be more like takeing a canister of gas and a match and burning all that america stands for and once had And after that bulldowzing the left overs away to sell the empty lot to the highest bidder next election.

If the President is "intellectually exhausted", it would probably be because he was exercising his intellect. Mitt's intellect on the other hand, seems rather well rested!

The projection continues from Romney the serial liar. I hate Romney and the GOP, they're nothing but domestic terrorists, and they deserve no place in a civilized society. And to make matters worse, they're supported by the most ignorant, racist, gullible, sub-human know-nothings in the country. Truly despicable, through and through.

Frankly, Obama has had quite a bit of unexpected white hair. Less speeches, more sports ought to be good for Obama.
