Former Obama campaign co-chair introduces Ryan in Virginia

(CNN) – Artur Davis, the former four-term Democratic congressman from Alabama who co-chaired President Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, introduced the running mate of Obama's Republican challenger in Virginia Friday.

"Are you ready to meet the next vice president of the United States?" Davis asked at a rally in Springfield, Virginia. It was Ryan's second event of the day. He held a rally outside Richmond on Friday morning.

In his introduction, Davis pointed to Ryan's age – he's 42 – as having energized the GOP. Davis is 44.

"Remember a week ago, some of our Democratic friends had the illusion that we were kind of an older party. That were the party of the last generation. One week later I'm the oldest man on this stage right now," Davis said. "What a difference a week makes."

Davis, who said in May he was switching parties from Democrat to Republican, said he had only disagreed with Ryan on one subject: the status of Led Zeppelin as the "#1 band of the modern era."

"I questioned you as you said it. As a Genesis man, I questioned it," Davis said.

He also praised Ryan's willingness to advance a House GOP budget that included sometimes-unpopular cuts to programs in the name of cutting the federal debt.

"President Romney is going to have a vice president who believes, in a town where no one takes responsibility for anything, Washington D.C., this man wrote a budget with tough, hard, necessary choices. He put his name on it," Davis said.

Wow! I can see by the enormous "intelligence" of most of the posters here that IQ is in short supply with most of you. Artur Davis is NO uncle tom The real uncle tom's are the ones among you who insist on staying on the democrat plantation, no matter how much fertilizer they put on your heads. Pathetic.

Y'all are amazing. Have you heard the economy is killing people's livlihood. This young man believed Obama would do great things for the black Americans and others who were being left behind. He sees that the lower economic group in America is suffering even more than before. It is the black Americans who have the highest unemployment 14.4%(except for the college grads) now. 41% of young black males age 18 and up are unemployed. I live in the south in a town of about 115,000. I see these nice young black men everywhere, no jobs, no car, no wife, no house. What has Obama done for them? Where is his hope and change for them. How long before they lose all hope. I could go on. This Mr. Davis is actually trying to lead by example. You people are obviously northern liberals living in row houses and highrises that you never come out of. You never see America. You can all go to hell.

Anyone with more than half a brain should be able to see that the "progressive" path that the democratic party is taking the country is the path to destruction and that their lies and deception are merely the rhetoric of failure. I don't trust anyone in DC to do the right thing, but four more years of the Obama agenda will solidify the complete collapse of our nation. Take off the blinders, my brothers and sisters, you'll surely see that the emperor has no clothes.

Gee, I don't know California Gary, why are so many California cities filing for bankruptcy? Spending money they don't have?

The venom of the left is palpable. (To un-educated democrats, that means you can taste it.) That you are running scared is very telling. Wake up and understand that the plantation is going through the worst sustained drought imaginable. There will be no recovery. Because this congressman understands this, and makes an informed decision on his career path should encourage you to do likewise, if you care to survive.

Californa Gary, people like you have a lot to say about the red states, but you look at the blue states and you will find around 70 to 80% of those living in the blue states live off the gov't. The murder rate in the blue states are twice as high as the red statea and your californa is bankrupt and you talk about the red states, you have no excuse for your ignorants. As charles Barkley said years ago, "blacks have been voting democrawt for fifty years and they are still poor". The democrats really work for the poor, with over fifteen trillion spend on programs for the poor and your master obama has added 14 million more to the food stamp rolls, yes you democrats are really doing well.

Davis is A real man of integrity. Obama has proven to be in over his head, he has no clue how to solve problems,he only knows how to spend money that we do not have. So sad.

In response to California Gary, the reason we "red states" have a lot of poverty is because of the democrat policies of the federal government. They will not get out of the way and allow us to create a better envirionment for ourselves. Want examples? Texas has a huge problem, along with other red states like Arizona, and even some blue states ,including your own, where we are required to provide education and services to illegal immigrants. Millions of them. Do you really think the citizens of the states want to do that? Do you think that requiring all the extra expenditures for illegal immigrants such as bi-lingual education helps the natural born citizens of this country escape poverty? What do you think happens when red states try to enforce the laws? The democrat gang in D.C. sues them. This only encourages more to come. Welfare, food stamps, medicaid, section 8 housing, all contribute to the problem of poverty by encouraging potentially productive people to live off of the efforts of the real producers.

    Hey, California Gary. Seriously?

You're seriously asking why red states have so many people living in poverty?

And you're from a state that's bankrupt with cities filing bankruptcy? Why is it so many blue states don't seem to know how to run their finances?

Steele was hardly given a token role. He did a little more than introduce a candidate at a rally. And he was discarded because he presided over an election (06) where the GOp got a mudhole stopped in them.

I saw all these bitter, angry racist comments from obvious Libs and I couldn't believe what I was seeing.... until I looked at the top of the page and saw that it was CNN... that explains it.
More supporters of a desperate failed President... I almost feel sorry for them... Not really...

TO; California Gary: becasue they don't have the money to move to a blue state to get on the 'governement gravy train'. Can you spare a dime to send them a bus ticket?

Wow. Look at all the hatred. Haters, did it occur to you this man knows what you say about him, and has the INTEGRITY to do what he thinks is right anyway? And if you have dark skin, how's affiliating with somebody based on skin color working out? 40% unemployment among black men? Zero of the Wall Street criminals have been prosecuted over the past 4 years and another one who stole millions directly from investors (Jon Corzine) was just let go.
