Romney congratulates Condoleezza Rice on Augusta membership
(CNN) – Mitt Romney congratulated former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Twitter Monday for becoming one of the first women admitted as a member to the Augusta National Golf Club.

In April, Romney expressed support for women members at Augusta, but said the decision should be left up to the club.
"I am not a member of Augusta. I don't know if I would qualify," Romney said. "My golf game is not that good. Certainly if I were a member, if I could run Augusta, which isn't likely to happen, of course I'd have women into Augusta."

The American People could care less about rich peoples' good ole boy golf clubs. This is a stunt only. The American People want to see Mitt's tax returns for the last 20 years to see Mitt's REAL tax rate. We also want to know how many jobs Mitt off-shored and how much money he has in off-shore accounts. Put up or shut up Mitt!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Condi... you deserve it. A woman with class and intelligence that the left wishes was on their side.
It is wholely unimpressive that Mitt would use the public sphere to congratulate "his friend", Condi Rice on her membership.
What would have been IMPRESSIvE is if he had used his connections, clout, and money to FIGHT FOR her membership BEHINd the scene.
Character is what someone displays when they think NO ONE IS WATCHING. That`s part of the reason why Mitt`s tax returns, going back 4 years BEFORE he held any elective office will be elucidating.
If he was cheating the US Treasury out of revenues at a time of WAR [a war he says he supported] then exactly how much patriotism & character does that show?

Mitt's tax returns are just a deflecting stunt to cover Obama's failures since Obama can't run on his record. FDR and JFK released no tax returns and you libs didn't say one word about that. Obama release your college records and the records on F&F and then get back to me about Mitt's tax returns. Time for a new president and to end the EPA's war on American energy producers.

BTW, genius, the tradition of releasing multiple years of tax returns did not begin until 1967, when Mittens father George famously released 12 years of returns. Guess who were both dead by then. Go ahead, guess.

You are pulling examples from 52 and 80 years ago. No one who has released less than 7 years of tax returns has been elected POTUS in the past 30 years. That probably won't change this time.
Hey, Governer! What is our opinion on the members of Congress who appear to have taken their family vacations in Israel at taxpayer expense, and the apparent coverup by House Republican leadership?
Why does anyone feel it necessary to congratulate women upon their acceptance to this private golf course. They people in charge have dragged their feet on this issue. The members have declined to push for women for years. Now that their friend,l Mitt Romney is running for President they offer membership to two Republican women. How about the members of the LPGA?
Mitt. Romney's statement only highlights what the Club is doing. He has a great opportunity to show his support for women and this is all he can say. Hope Americans see this for what it is. It definitely is not an historical moment. It would be much more of a news story if Ms. Rice turned them down on the grounds that she does not want to be one of two women to be allowed in. They should be opining their doors to women golfers period.

romney could make this entire fiasco dissapear by simpley releasing his taxes. But he refuses to do so.

Here is where I get puzzled on Mitt Romney's leadership: He is twitting and congratulates Condi BUT he keeps mum on Akin's comment about women. Doesn't he think it is outrageous and it may cost him a lot of women votes?

I think it's tragic that being asked to join this traditional bastion of racism and sexism is considered an "accomplishment." If she had been a while male, wealth and "family" would have been the standard, but Rice needs an exceptional portfolio. I would have been more impressed if she had refused the invitation.
