Al Gore sees dark clouds if Romney wins

(CNN) – Al Gore said the country's environmental policy would be compromised if presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney were to become president in January.

"I would fear for the future of our environmental policy," said Gore of a Romney/Ryan White House in an interview with TakePart, the publishing arm of the company that produced "An Inconvenient Truth," Gore's 2006 documentary about climate change.

A devoted environmental activist since his own failed presidential bid in 2000, the former vice president's comments don't come as a surprise.

Fact Check: Obama/Romney energy policies

Gore continued: "They've made statements that are just completely at odds with the facts and they seem to be really in lock-step with a large part of the polluters but, just based on their public statements, I would be very concerned about what they do."

While praising President Barack Obama's leadership and progress on some issues, Gore said he "certainly understands criticism" of Obama's environmental policy.

Gore gave the interview on August 21 just two days before Romney announced his five-point energy policy at a campaign event in New Mexico.

Romney has said his energy plan will make the United States energy independent by the year 2020 - which would coincide with the end of a second presidential term, if he is elected.

In promising to wean the country off of foreign oil the Republican candidate touted policies that would create fewer federal regulations. Romney said his plan would also allow for states to have control over oil drilling within their borders as well as opening new offshore areas to energy development; starting a fast-track approval process for energy projects including nuclear power, and limiting the ability of environmental groups to file lawsuits.

In pushing his energy policy Romney criticized Obama's support for renewable energy subsidies, noting companies such as Solyndra, which after receiving government funding has gone bankrupt.

Obama, however, has supported increased oil production while also increasing regulations on offshore drilling and emissions rules on power plants.

Romney and running mate Paul Ryan will be officially nominated as the Republican Party's presidential and vice presidential candidate during this week's Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida.

As much money as the Koch brothers have poured into these elections, if Willard Capone wins, you can kiss the EPA away and all environmental regulations. Plain and simple.

I very much like Gore's push for more accountability and responsibility towards the environment, but all politics aside, dude gets wierder looking every time I see him.

Its not just the environment so Mittens can pay back the Kochs, but it is also the end of social security and medicare, medicaid, women's rights, public education, affordable health care, and a strong middle class.

You control our world. You’ve poisoned the air we breathe, contaminated the water we drink, and copyrighted the food we eat. We fight in your wars, die for your causes, and sacrifice our freedoms to protect you. You’ve liquidated our savings, destroyed our middle class, and used our tax dollars to bailout your unending greed. We are slaves to your corporations, zombies to your airwaves, servants to your decadence. You’ve stolen our elections, assassinated our leaders, and abolished our basic rights as human beings. You own our property, shipped away our jobs, and shredded our unions. You’ve profited off of disaster, destabilized our currencies, and raised our cost of living. You’ve monopolized our freedom, stripped away our education, and have almost extinguished our flame

If you want to know what Republican environmental and workplace safety policy will look like, just look at China.

Yeah. Obama's environmental policy is the same as his economic policy. Politics comes first. Everything else suffers. America suffers. The politics have not treated Americans well and in November it will all come back to haunt Obama.
    Romney/ Ryan 2012.

Those Dark Clouds will come from the numerous bombs we drop when the GOP takes this country back into meaningless, unpaid for wars. As long as his offshore accounts stay full, Romney could care less about the enviorment...

I have to admire Gore, he really knew how to become a multi-millionaire using the environment responsibility gimmick, the guy who buys the most expensive home in Malibu right on the ocean and stays obese, contradicting all that is written about obesity harming the environment.

Look around you. Look at what is happening to our planet. Our best scientists tell us mankind is a substantial contributing factor in this global warming, by emmissions of carbon based gasses into the atmosphere. Deny it all you want, but you cannot change the fact. The neanderthal caucus of the Republican Party says it just aint so. They want to drill baby drill. But if you continue to ignore it, global warming will bring upon mankind, your descendants, such hardship as we have never known.

Just like if Gore had been elected we wouldn't have gone into Iraq, Afghanistan would have been much shorter, we wouldn't have had two unfunded tax cuts, an unfunded drug prescription program and our economy wouldn't be in the toilet now.

Does it worry Republicans that the Party has become completely anti-science? Nobody credible is left to dispute man's role in global climate change and the statistics for disease and death caused by environmental pollution is extremely well-supported. What does is say about a political party when they openly support destruction of our environment on such a grand scale? Is it the ignorance of Fox News or complete disregard for the children of the future? They predict dire events from deficit spending but ignore the human costs of catastrophic climate change.

Climate Change is real. How about those 100+ degree weather we have been having. Snow in New Mexico.

Big Oil is going to try to buy this election with their 400 million plus donation to the Romney Campaign.

Part of the Obama Fear and Hate campaign, did you read where Ellen Barkin wished TS Issac would wash every Repubilcan in to the ocean on Twitter. You probably won't, liberally biased media does not print that sort of thing, kinda like what Samuel Jackson said (not reported by the liberally biased media) and the actions of the LBGT in that shooting at the Family Resource Center (not reported in the liberally biased media) or the fact that the Colorado Batman shooter was a heavy marijuana user (reported in Europe, but not our liberally biased media).
