Ann Romney: Mitt 'will lift up America'

(CNN) - Ann Romney will describe her husband, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, as a problem solver who "has helped lift up others" in her Tuesday primetime speech at the Republican National Convention, according to excerpts released by the Romney campaign.

"This is the man who will wake up every day with the determination to solve the problems that others say can't be solved, to fix what others say is beyond repair," she is to say about her husband, according to the excerpts. "This is the man who will work harder than anyone so that we can work a little less hard."

She is slated to speak in the 10 p.m. ET hour of the convention.

Ann Romney is said to be one of her husband's strongest surrogates for her ability to connect with voters, and is to say, "Tonight I want to talk to you from my heart about our hearts."

The excerpts also show her opening up about her marriage, family life, and personal struggles.

"I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a 'storybook marriage,' " she is to say. "Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or Breast Cancer."

Should he be elected, Ann Romney is to say, her husband "will not fail."

"This man will not let us down," the excerpts read. "This man will lift up America!"

Mitt Romney is slated to speak on Thursday, the final day of the convention, forming what has been described as a "bookend" effect, with the majority of the convention occurring between her and her husbands' speeches.

Basically what Ann means is that Mitt is our savior we are the little people waiting to be saved. We don't even have to work once Mitten becomes our president. He will keep us save and feed with the power of his magic underwear. Thanks Ann but no thanks.

We need to see his tax returns to measure his ethics and honesty. Why should we trust him? He doesn't trust us.

I do not think it will do us much good to have in the White House a man like Mitt Romney who was born rich and privileged and and is unable to fathom, let alone understand even remotely, the serious daily concerns of the average Americans accompanied by a woman like Ann Romney who does not know, no matter how much she and her husband's Party try to convince us otherwise, the real difficulties we face in the average American family today. Raised five kids with all the domestic help she could get is not much of an accomplishment. Even the stories of her beating or bearing serious diseases does not sound nearly impressive, coming from a woman who is super-rich with access to the best of medicine available without concerns about the costs. All the charitable activities she has ever done are not much more than the rich woman's past time with the political future of her husband in mind. ETC. ETC. Everything about the Romney Family is built upon wealth. Everything they have ever done – "achivement" or not – has been possible because of wealth – the kind they were privileged to have had from Day 1 of their lives. Not like us, the average Americans.

Ann Romney is not the kind of First Lady we want and need. It would have been far better for Mitt Romney to have had someone who was born poor and really knows first-hand all the hardships we go through in our lives as average Americans.

How is Romney going to lift America by changing everything Obama made happen? Its already bad that Congress get to make the final approval for everything the President would like to change. Then, to hear that Romney want to reverse Gay Marriages when 20% of the Republicans are gay. Also, why would the poor need to pay higher taxes when we can barely live with low minimum wages, no equal pay for women, and rental apartments and homes are more than mortgages. Maybe Romney should try living off of 30k for one year with no additional income.

Mitt will work hard so that we don't have to? Better re-think that line Ann.......that almost sounds "socialistic".......Mitt's going to take care of all of us little people is he? He works so hard doesn't he........doing........uh..........doing......uh.......what has he been working hard at Ann? I'm having a little trouble coming up with all the projects he's been working on these past few years.

Obama couldn't fix the car in 4 years. Time for a new mechanic. One that knows what the heck they are doing and has a proven track record of success to prove it. Romney/Ryan.

I have great difficulty hearing Ann say that she believes her husband will save America! I'm sorry but the arrogance behind that statement hits hard. I see President Obama never having a chance from day one because the Republican party stated they will bring him down. I have never seen such disrespect for our president as our first black President who I feel "hope and change" could have been accomplished for many issues in America, if Congress worked for us all and not just their party having power.

So Mitt Romney = a one man nanny state? The Republicans will really love that! "You didn't build it - Mitt built it for you!" And only $100 million over budget.

According to Ann, Mitt will work hard and solve problems - well, golly, why can't he seem to articulate HOW he's planning to do those things? All I hear from him are declarations, announcements, proclamations, and pronouncements - where's the beef, Mitt? Admit it, it's NOT there!

I am mystified why the Republicans would put Ann up there. She's just not likeable.

truth, you wanna go there with the track record on Robmey. MA Governor, but won't talk about it (job creation ranked 47/50). Was great at Bain Capital, but won't talk about it (offshore and outsource).
Took on Ryan and his budget plan which guts medicare into a coupon, the budget only serves the wealthiest of Americans (John McCain said that). Ryan and his twin Akin are looking to shut down womens private parts. So the poor, middle class, students, seniors, Veterans, immigrants, Old and very young, LGBT, minorities are screwed under the Sheriff of Nothingham and Eddie Munster Regime.

A guy who has "helped lift up others"? This is the same crap he told us here in Massachusetts. As far as Massachusetts is concerned, Mitt Romney couldn't leave this state fast enough after "helping" us. He left here with a 34% approval rating to make a failed run at the presidency in 2008. We warned everybody then about Mitt Romney, and they seemed to listen to us and he lost his bid to become the GOP nominee. Mitt Romney is the guy who lost to the guy who lost to President Obama. John McCain thought so much of Mitt Romney in 2008 that Romney was passed over for Sarah Palin as McCain's vice presidential running mate. McCain said that Sarah Palin was a better choice than Romney.

Massachusetts is begging you to listen again. Romney is nothing more than a past failure in Massachusetts, and now he is sloppy seconds that is left over from last election's waste basket. We warned you once before, and you seemed to listen. Please look at the polls in Massachusetts and realize that Romney is 15-20 points behind in any poll you look at. Romney will not win this state. Massachusetts will vote to reelect President Obama. Let Massachusetts be your guide, and just don't even think about letting this guy anywhere near Washington, DC. Listen to the people who've lived and learned.

    @Ask Massachusetts –
I hope you & others like you from your state can get your message out there! You guys know him better than the rest of us. I am sure there is a reason he has been so secretive with everything! And then he expects to coast into the job? I don't think so!

If outsourcing American jobs to China and India and not paying taxes on your millions is uplifting, Mitt's the man for it.

Aside from gobs of cash (kept safety offshore) the only thing Mr. Romney seems to have a superabundance of "to lift people up" is lies. Lots and lots of them. He lacks specific policies or programs. When pressed, he resurrects Bush-o-nomics (cut taxes for the rich, cut regulations). Nonsense- the same nonsense that wrecked the economy under Bush.
The Brits labelled him best. He is the "Nowhere Man".

Yeah – Romney also promised to LIFT the state of MA, but by the time Governor Romney left office, the state had fallen to 47th in the nation in terms of job growth....

“A storybook marriage? No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage,” You are very especial Ann we know that, but that is not what we wanted to know about Mitt and you. Tell us just about Mitt he is running for the highest office on the land he also want to reform our future taxes we would like to know him better so that we can make an informed decision to make his wish comes true (to fulfill his quest for legacy) would you mind to give us his tax return now. No wise cracks not another birther jock, this is a serious matter for us; the little people

Does this mean Romney will close his off shore bank accounts and transfer the money to U.S. banks and investment firms? Will Romney eliminate unfair tax deductions like the one that gave him $77,000 dollars for the fancy dancing horse?
