(CNN) - Mitt Romney's campaign released excerpts for Paul Ryan's primetime speech Wednesday night, set to take place at the Republican National Convention at 10 p.m. ET
"I accept the calling of my generation to give our children the America that was given to us, with opportunity for the young and security for the old – and I know that we are ready. Our nominee is sure ready. His whole life has prepared him for this moment – to meet serious challenges in a serious way, without excuses and idle words. After four years of getting the run-around, America needs a turnaround, and the man for the job is Governor Mitt Romney.
...
“Obamacare comes to more than two thousand pages of rules, mandates, taxes, fees, and fines that have no place in a free country. The president has declared that the debate over government-controlled health care is over. That will come as news to the millions of Americans who will elect Mitt Romney so we can repeal Obamacare.
…...
“We have a plan for a stronger middle class, with the goal of generating 12 million new jobs over the next four years.
….
“My Dad used to say to me: ‘Son. You have a choice: You can be part of the problem, or you can be part of the solution.’ The present administration has made its choices. And Mitt Romney and I have made ours: Before the math and the momentum overwhelm us all, we are going to solve this nation’s economic problems. And I’m going to level with you: We don’t have that much time. But if we are serious, and smart, and we lead, we can do this.
….
"The right that makes all the difference now is the right to choose our own leaders. You are entitled to the clearest possible choice because the time for choosing is drawing near. So here is our pledge. We will not duck the tough issues – we will lead. We will not spend four years blaming others – we will take responsibility. We will not try to replace our founding principles, we will reapply our founding principles. The work ahead will be hard. These times demand the best of us – all of us, but we can do this. Together, we can do this."
>> the goal of generating 12 million new jobs over the next four years.
And how will that occur?
1st Romney criticizes Obama on the comment about business doing well, then he himself says close to the same thing.
2nd Now Romney has joined the birther party.
3rd now R/R have amended their health care plan. What, the original wasn't correct? Question on the voucher: does this mean you no longer have to look for a doctor that will accept medicare? They can charge what they want? Cost increase here we come. The voucher is to help pay for private health insurance. As we all know the premiums for reasonable insurance is high. Also insurances WILL NOT cover pre-existing conditions... therefore the vouchers are useless... especially for the elderly that usually have pre-existing conditions.
You want to trust republicans?
Remember it was House Republican Majority Eric Cantor that purposely changed the Stock Act (the one about inside trader knowledge) so politicians can still make trades on insider knowledge (just via family members). It was in the original bill, he changed it. Congress had to vote twice to get it done right!!! Who's looking out for whom???
I will say that YOU ARE THE PROBLEM since the President took office because all you and your repugs care about is to make him a one term president.
Obamacare is already helping seniors with the donut hole. It's helping families who can keep their children in their insurance policy until the age and 26 and anybody with a pre existing condition cannot be denied health coverage.
What does your plan do? Put Medicare in a voucher program and let the seniors fend for themselves. Even with regular health insurance you know how hard it is and how many calls it takes to get something done?
You might be from the generation of the me me but you will NEVER be in the WH.
search "son of boss" or "marriot romney" to see what kind of tax scheme Romney tried to get away with. The IRA caught him!!!
Even Marco Rubio stated that the health care system has been broken for a long time. Where is his solution? Shall we list all the GOP members that said the same thing?
remember the GOP had 11 years to fix the health care system or at least make major improvements, but they did nothing. Absolutely nothing!!. I game to change my mind AFTER they come up with their plan. But they have already publicly stated, if they come with anything it will be a looong time coming.
Great lines.......but that's all they are.......lines. The fact is that the Republican Congress, of which Ryan is a part, have been a large part of the problem........not part of the solution. And just how do they plan to make 12 million jobs magically appear? I'd be interested in knowing the specifics on that. No specifics? Just trust us? I don't think so.
annnnd once again all promise no premise...the devil is in the details which we've got none to this point from Romney or Ryan..
He's just a Washington insider trying to pretend he's something genuine. This guy plans to kill Medicare and Social Security – because his fat-cat sugar-daddies don't need or want the programs. He and Romney won't give details and certainly won't tell the truth. Those working people who trusted Romney and Bain Capital now have no jobs and no pension.
I cannot wait for the VP debate ... I can hear old Joe getting fried already!!!
Obama care gives me a chance to purchase affordable insurance. How the Republicans want me to vote for them.
Fat chance.
This guy KNOWS NOTHING OF GLOBAL ECONOMICS
he has rarely left his state let alone his country hence he knows NOTHING of
the NEW GLOBAL ECONOMY
SCARY! the blind leading the blind
Harvard University has a course that can help him namley
Economics 1435. Macroeconomic Policy in the Global Economy
Ryan take the course before you look even MORE STUPIDER
"After four years of getting the run-around, America needs a turnaround, and the man for the job is Governor Mitt Romney."
----------------------------------
Ha! I knew it! After four years of slow but steady recovery the Party of No wants to finish us off for good by sending the US economy in the same direction that Ryan's buddy Scott Walker has sent Wisconsin's economy - downward, ever downward. Except for their major anonymous donors, of course, who have profited handsomely. Next election cycle the Koch brothers (and their special friends like Paul Ryan and Scott Walker, of course) will be the only ones left to call the shots, or buy the government. If Romney-for-hire gets in you can kiss the "Land of the Free" good-bye.
You can be certain of two things. Ryan will offer no specifics on what programs he would try to kill and like Romney, most of what he says will be lies. He's just a lap-dog for the rich they're trying to portray as Oppie of Mayberry.
Obamacare is Romneycare. Can't defend one and offend the other.
As a small business owner who can't afford health insurance, I am waiting on our state healthexchange to be put into place. If Mitt is elected and repeals the Health care act where will I go to get insurance? wait another 10 years for Medicare which the Republicans will probably cut to a nothing program? I really need the insurance now, if something happens I lose my business, my house and maybe my life-I guess death panels are possible.
I will take my chances with Obama.
Oh yeah...R & R will lead us alright, right into economic, healthcare, medicare and SS oblivion! They don't have a new plan, old plan or any other of plan that will magically resolve all of the damage done by GW Shrub that Pres. Obama inherited in 2009 and has been dealing with ever since he took office.
If you want choose even worse leaders than the Shrub, then vote for the R & R gang. They are both lying flip floppers who will ruin the middle class as we now know it. The US will end up with just two classes – the lower 99% class and the super wealthy 1% who are R & R's cronies.
They don't have a better path just a path to destruction that will hurt and hinder us at home and abroad.
Mitt has never and never will reveal his tax returns because he lied about when he actually left Bain. The returns will show income from Stericycle, an abortion medical waste disposal company that Bain invested $75M into. Those returns will probably show that he didn't pay any income taxes either. So.........you've got a choice. Fact check both candidates and make the tough, honest choice – President Obama for 4 more years!
Paul ryan is an unqualified Frat boy!
as long as he doesn't mention Reagan or Shining City on a Hill B.S. I may be able to stomach some of his speech!
