Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Two people were removed from the Republican National Convention Tuesday after they threw nuts at an African-American CNN camera operator and said, “This is how we feed animals.”
Multiple witnesses observed the exchange and RNC security and police immediately removed the two people from the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The convention released a statement saying, “Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated."
CNN also acknowledged the incident, saying, "CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.”
The convention began its first full session on Tuesday after being delayed a day by what was then Tropical Storm Isaac. It continues through Thursday when Mitt Romney is expected to accept the party’s nomination as its presidential candidate.
When you hear us say republicans don't like black people, here's your proof. I'm not saying all of them do, but there is a huge swath of them that do. I expect nothing less when you have a convention spewing hate.
This showed how GOP members are racists...and look down on middle-class and working people...not all of GOP..but their policy are the main issue to divide Americans...poor GOP leadership...we are Americans and we must be united ...wake up Americans...
I heard this morning on the radio they threw peanuts and call her a monkey and told this we do to monkey.
Republican are racist people and I hope the world see this.. I heard it was more then 2 people threw peanuts at her.
Obama/Biden you have my vote
Not surprised. This is the GOP platform when you strip away the glossy exterior.
You need to put their names and pictures on CNN. Public embarrassment for those who want to act like fools. Obviously they want the publicity. I bet they were GodFearing CHrisians.
Doesnt surprise me at all. If Hitler was alive today, he would be a republican.
Excellent display of the high levels of maturity we come to expect from Republican party supporters.
As someone else said....Not all Republicans are racists but the majority of racists are Republican
This is exactly what is wrong with this party. They shelter people like this. The GOP hasn't changed since the days of Jim Crow.
This is intoleratable, how long will this continue??
Sounds like some White Supremacists from the GOP base, were "just being boys"!
Didn't take long for the GOP bigotry to rear its ugly head!
Nothing ever changes. Most White American Republicans feel they are privileged by skin color and would probably do almost anything to have the Republican party rollback the clock to the Jim Crow era.
This is how the whole party feel about African American People. This is sad that white people act in this manner. Mitt Romney is the head of this racist party, with his welfare ad and birther comment.
I wonder if these two people were political plants?? Why else would they take the risk of doing something so deplorable to someone who could clearly put it on camera??
When November comes Obama and Middle Class win landslide!!! Amen.
This is the type of high value citizens the GOP attracts. Bravo.
"This kind of behavior will not be tolerated." - This kind of behavior is your party's platform.
Any other stories about the convention has so many comments but this story has none......things that make you go hmmm
Now who really are the animals?
Is this how we treat cains seed?
It's just the id of the Republican Party expressing itself.
I am very sorry to hear this happened. I was also sorry to hear of the response the Republican Representative from Puerto Rico got. Our Country still has a long way to go. I didn;t watch much of the convention. My TV and thoughts were on TWC and Iaasac. Just got our power on in Delray Beach Florida. I know the days to come for those on the Gulf Coast will be hard. Really worried about the Levee breach.
So, Gingrich and Rick Perry were asked to leave, finally?
Now, now GOP...Wait until after the election to show your true colors.
