Solved: Eastwood is RNC 'mystery guest'

(CNN) - Clint Eastwood will be the "mystery guest" at the Republican National Convention's final night, a GOP source confirmed Thursday.

Eastwood, a longtime Republican, is expected to walk through the convention floor in the afternoon for a brief rundown of the night's events.

The actor endorsed Romney at an Idaho fund-raiser at the beginning of August, where he told reporters beforehand he was backing the Republican presidential candidate "because I think the country needs a boost somewhere."

He later told hundreds at the outdoor reception that Romney was "going to restore, hopefully, a decent tax system that we need that there's a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as to who's paying taxes and who isn't."

Convention organizers had been teasing a surprise "mystery guest" all week at the convention in Tampa but would not give details or hints about the surprise speaker.

Romney will accept his party's nomination for president Thursday night.

Mr clint, i used to admire you until you chose to back a moron and liar. You have all of a sudden become like them as birds of the same feather flock together. The unfortunate thing is that you backed the wrong and dumb horses who will be beaten in a landslide by our patriotic president obama.

Oh, that's just so Romney. The right wing loves to rant about how Hollywood supports liberals, and Romney brings one of the biggest names in Hollywood history to his convention. "I have friends who own NASCAR teams and NFL teams."

Finally!! The GOP finally have a Hollywood star of their own so not they can stop complaining about the Dems and their Hollywood friends. The GOP are just like my 6 year old nephew... complain about something until they get one of their own... If it's marbles or a Hollywood star endorsement. The GOP make me laugh!!

The R's got tired of the D's having all the Hollywood folks on board, so they scrounged around and came up with Eastwood, just so they could say, "Oh yeah? Well, we gotta star, too!" Their version of sour grapes.

I'm not a big fan of Eastwood, but he's done some good stuff. It would be a shame for the R's not to have any celebrities but the likes of Donald Trump. They'll be hard pressed to come up with another household name to back Mittler. Maybe it'll make them tone down the criticism when nearly all the other Hollywood folks cheer on the President.

Just lost all respect for Clint. He only back him for a "decent tax system". One in which he pays less taxes.... I wonder if he'll go back on his superbowl ad where he praised the car industry bailout. This is just sad.

I don't begrudge Clint Eastwood his opinion or his political affiliation. I simply hope he doesn't come off as yet another "hack" for the Republicans.

  25. Former Republican, now an Independent

Isn't it kind of strange that the democrats are chastised by the republican party when a celebrity endorses a democrat, yet the GOP hires "tough guy" type actors such as Clint Eastwood and Chuck Norris to try to enhance their image. It seems to have backfired though since the many celebrities who have endorsed President Obama are of a more intellectual type.
