Solved: Eastwood is RNC 'mystery guest'

(CNN) - Clint Eastwood will be the "mystery guest" at the Republican National Convention's final night, a GOP source confirmed Thursday.

Eastwood, a longtime Republican, is expected to walk through the convention floor in the afternoon for a brief rundown of the night's events.

The actor endorsed Romney at an Idaho fund-raiser at the beginning of August, where he told reporters beforehand he was backing the Republican presidential candidate "because I think the country needs a boost somewhere."

He later told hundreds at the outdoor reception that Romney was "going to restore, hopefully, a decent tax system that we need that there's a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as to who's paying taxes and who isn't."

Convention organizers had been teasing a surprise "mystery guest" all week at the convention in Tampa but would not give details or hints about the surprise speaker.

Romney will accept his party's nomination for president Thursday night.

Harry Callahan could waste any character George Cloony has ever played, including Batman (HIS, anyway).

    'nuff said; Obama goin' DOWN!

So what's he going to do, pull a Heston, pull out a gun and say "Over my dad body"? It was arranged for Heston. I don't think that's what Eastwood should be doing. 🙂

So, "George of the Jungle,"... this 80+ year old rich guy talk abput mitt and his family values..." is different than the 30, 40, and 50 year old "rich guy" like George Clooney, Matt Damon and the rest are MORE intelligent and have BETTER family values?? You haven't even heard him speak yet, and you're already mocking him. Why can't you stick to the current events that are unfolding around us? Four years ago "Yes we can.": Well, we haven't. President Obama, who is a good father and husband, was not and is not qualified to be the President. He has been campaigning for four years instead of taking care of business. He should also pick a decent vice presidential candidate instead of Joe Biden, who never talks about the issues. Old Joe is like the kid who is losing the game – he takes his ball home and quits.

I guess Oprah is not considered a millionaire....

Stick to the issues and maybe you can have a decent debate.

Wow! Clint Eastwood! Am I excited. I thought it might be George Bush or Dick Cheney. Now, if Bill Clinton were the mystery guest. That would be a surprise. Ho hum.

He was a wife beater - that finished it for me. Can no longer stand to look at him. NO man has a right to EVER hit a woman. Walk away.

Let's count, how many wives has he had? And how many children born out of wedlock? Conservative, Christian, Republican values! He has made violent, angry movies for years. Is this the best they can do?

Another rich old man who doesn't want to pay any taxes. Maybe Eastwood's new tag line will be "I have mine, I don't give a damn about the rest of the country". No more Eastwood films for me and that will be a sacrifice because Amy Adams is in his latest.

    @the real ib
Your posting is like a collection of Fox News sound-bites. Every point you tried to make won't survive even the most basic fact-checking. But that's not the Fox News way... Still, your disorganized rant should encourage Republicans. The ill-informed and delusional are their base... at least for the primary where every lie, made-up statistic and ridiculous conspiracy is embraced. Independent voters tend to think for themselves and get their information from reliable sources.

All of us Clint Eastwood fans thank you.. please don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out. We'll wave as you leave
If only by the fact that he will be at the convention makes him "not cool" in your book. you prob need to take something for that condition...

Sort of fitting to have the icon of the scowl and snarl as a surprise speaker - after all, the Republicans are basically telling a lot of people to "get off my lawn."

Never was impressed with all the hollywood glitterati on Obama's side either.

It would have made more of a splash to find a prominent democrat, but I guess there aren't any this time around who like Mitt.

I like Clint as an actor, and he can be all GOP he wants to be. I doubt he's spousing the radicals inside the GOP, though. But celebrities don't move the needle one way or another for voters.
