TIME: What he knows now: Obama on popularity, partisanship and getting things done in Washington
(TIME) - White House correspondent Michael Scherer spoke with President Obama aboard Air Force One on Aug. 21 for the Sept. 10 issue of TIME
MICHAEL SCHERER: What is your message for the independent voter who supported you from Ohio or Iowa in 2008 because he thought you could change the tone in Washington, change politics? Did you do something wrong? And why will the next four years be different?
BARACK OBAMA: The message I have for them is no different than the message I have for the rest of the country, which is, I ran for office to not only deal with a looming economic crisis but also reverse a decade in which middle-class families had seen their security erode.

What we know and a lot of people found out is that "on the job training" as President does not work. We also know a complicit press that has propped Obama up at every turn has done irreparable damage to the country. They have coddled and protected Obama more than any President.
What we have learned is that Republicans care nothing for the poor, middle class, minorities, gays or women. And to regain power is all they planned to do.
Congress still needs to be held accountable. With approval ratings in the teens, there should be a complete overhaul. The GOP party of NO was transparent from the get go .Everything Obama wants just say no.
I'm very disspointed in the President. And, one could overlook some of the on the job training (so to speak) but this he is definitely dividing this country with class war, war on women. I take the time to listen to his speeches and I am saddened. The country is losing its edge and I think our president is focused too much on Hollywood. He rips apart the GOP - don't misunderstand a good debate is good - but there has been too much focus on himself, his golf, and I just wish ONCE he would take ownership for some of his decisions that didn't include what we as Americans are looking for. This man does not seem to be fair.
And for the life of me, cannot understand why the media is protecting him so much.

Oh, quite whining. The right wing has been whining that same whine since Jan. 20, 2009, and before. If you don't think that you should, then let me give you some advice. The right wing tried that in 2008 and got totally shellacked in an electoral landslide. But, if you insist on instigating another landslide, then please carry on.
What we all know is that trying to accomplish things for the majority of the American people is very difficult when your opposition is entrenched and bought and paid for by the likes of the Koch Brothers and Sheldon Adelson. We have a choice between Government of, by, and for the People or Government of, by, and for the Corporations. Romney doesn't know the difference because, of course, "Corporations ARE people, my friend."
What we've learned is that this country still has a long deep dark side that we can't put to sleep. Even after all these years progress & advancement for the rights of ALL people, some wont let by gones be by gones. It's crazy how "Compromise" is a bad word now for our Gov. officials in Washington. You're seen as a traitor now if you reach across the aisle. This is no longer a fight between "us vs them". That battle ended more than a 100 years ago. Funny how Condoleezza Rice may have had the best speech this whole week at the RNC when she talked about everybody playing a part in uplifting America. Not Red states or Blue states...
What we know is that Oblameo is inept. He has shown his true colors and they stink. All he had to do was create jobs, instead he flew around to letterman, leno and such likes giving lip service. Lip dervice isnt going to get anything done. Any one with a half brain sees what a failure he has been

Spoken like a true attorney, beautiful words, easy to understand, makes sense but wait till you remind him of his words in the future and he'll say you mis-understood his words and he did not promise that. I love this part.... "I’m not going to slash Medicaid to the point where disabled kids or seniors who are in nursing homes are basically uncared for. We’re not going to violate the basic bargain that Social Security represents." He says "Slash to the point" which means he has plans to slash and "violate the basic bargain" which means he will take some form of action against Social Security. Just like he did with Medicare, oh no Obama is not using the $716 Savings of Medicare to pay Obamacare, he's just paying Obamacare with Medicare savings over a period of 10 years. Spoken like a true Attorney.
Does it really matter what Obama SAYS? He always says one thing an dthen does another. The guy is a liar, pure and simple.
And there is this BS statement:

Of course, implying that the Republicans are going to do this. It is the same old Democrat BS line of Republicans will kill the kids and old people if you vote for them. Pretty despicable stuff coming from a President that is supposed to be a leader. This clown saying this stuff makes him almost impossible to work with. He just keeps poisoning the waters with this over the top BS. He remains clueless after 4 years of on the job training. Time to show this flunky the door.

Aiden, not sure what you are talking about. Fox News has been adamant putting out news on Obama. Whether it's made up or not.
I think conservatives are just mad that the narrative they tried to hang on Obama while exonerating themselves of any wrongdoing is back firing. It's the information age. You can't say Obama is gutting welfare reforms and not expect intelligent folks to look up the truth. You can't say you don't follow the prinicples of Ayn Rand when there is video on YouTube of you saying that her books were your inspiration for going into politics.
Of course the message has not changed, Obama has not leaned anything, he is still the teleprompter president. However, change is coming on November 6, 2012, there won’t be enough Democrats left to call it a party.
He has faced the unprecedented challenge from the failed economy and a cynical congress watching him to fail no matter what that cost the American people and the country future. While he was straggling to clean up the mess created by the inept president and yes congress they are strangling him from every side and corner to make sure that this country cannot recover under his watch.
There is no voting block in the world more UN-informed and ignorant than the conservative ( some) and far-right voting block in this United States of America.
I make a pretty decent living,but despite that I know I don't make 250k a year.
I hope some of you have some great rainy day accounts, IRA's or trust funds.
I wish the President well,but if he loses , may you get what you wished for and then some.

Our relations with Israel are turning sour, he advocates for mus lims, he promotes racism, war between classes, war between women, war on religious freedom in THIS country. He has overreached and simply does not enforce the law when if doesn't agree with it.
Romney/Ryan will be a refreshing change.
Yonni – you are so wrong. We will be hard pressed to recover from what Obama has done to this country. You need to read up on facts and history.

Bush was absolutely brutalized and still is to this day so don't expect any levity for Obama. He gets a free ride from the press but don't expect it from the rest of us. If pointing out the gaping holes in Obama's leadership causes a landslide so be it – but its not going to happen.

By damage you mean starting two wars and cutting taxes on the top earners in this country ? Which NO president has done before ? You mean by borrowing money from China to pay for those wars ? Or do you mean by starting a upaid Medicaid program ? You mean class warfare in the sense of how the top 1% have grown by leaps and bounds since 2001 ? Last I check my coworkers,friends,family,etc have all the freedom in the world. They worship where they like and where they want. Do you mean the relatiopnship between Israel that their leader recently say has never been better between the two countries ?
