Catholic nun brings her star power to DNC

Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN) - Sister Simone Campbell will get what may be the biggest media platform of her life on Wednesday night, when she addresses the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. But the Catholic nun already has plenty of star power.

Walking around Charlotte this week, Campbell was repeatedly stopped by fans who wanted to pose for pictures.

I like "Nuns on the Bus". They are christians who demonstrate and speak about true christian values. They are not false prophets, whose only demonstrated moral value is in their personal wealth.

Obviously this is not a nun that represents God, Jesus Christ, Christianity, she plays on some christian values such as feeding the poor, etc... but she doesn't walk the whole christian mile, if she did she would be teaching on Jesus's guide for our lives and she is not doing so. She thinks she is representing Jesus but still hanging on to radical feminist beliefs.

@gt: It's the Republicans that say the Dems don't 'have God" in their platform. What the Repubs can't see is that they have Jesus in almost every line of their platform: helping the poor, comforting the sad, feeding the hungry. The Republicans' "God" is a mean-spirited, intolerant, self-absorbed god whom they only trot out to get the Evangelical vote. Great line from John Fugelsang (his mother was a nun, his father a monk, he is a practicing Catholic) - "Jesus, like Elvis - love the guy, totally creeped out by his fans."

@myviewis: when you die and (hopefully) go to heaven, you're in for a surprise – God will be there to greet you, and she's going to have a few things to educate you about before sending you the other way...

I think this nun is very brave.. I applaude her convictions. I am so surprised at all the Christians following Mitt Romney and not even mentioning that he is a Morman which is not related to christianity... no matter how it is spinned.

Italian Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini has described the Roman Catholic Church as being "200 years behind" the times.
