First on CNN: DNC secretly scheduled guests: Actresses Johansson, Portman, Washington

Charlotte (CNN) – Clint Eastwood meet Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Kerry Washington.

The three actresses, firmly anchored in Hollywood's royalty, have been secretly scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention, according to a tentative schedule provided by a source to CNN.

- Check out the CNN Electoral Map and Calculator and game out your own strategy for November.

The schedule lists the three actresses as speaking on Thursday evening, the same night that President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will accept their party's respective nominations. Johansson, Portman and Washington are listed as following The Foo Fighters on the itinerary. Convention officials announced that the alternative rock band would perform last week.

A source told CNN the hope is to have the three actresses appear on stage together.

It's unclear if the schedule has been finalized or is subject to change. When contacted by CNN, a DNC official said that no final details about the Thursday program would be divulged at this time.

CNN reached out to representatives for each actress but did not receive comment for Johansson and Portman. A representative for Washington would only say the actress is currently filming in Los Angeles.

Though several celebrities are slated to attend the DNC, appearances by Johansson, Portman and Washington would surely invite special political scrutiny.

All three are popular, award-winning actresses and among Hollywood's most bankable stars. But perhaps more importantly, all three represent demographics that Democrats hope to win by wide margins: women and young voters.

Johansson is 27 years old, Portman is 31 and Washington is 35.

Should the actresses take the stage supporting the president it could help Democrats present a picture of inclusiveness and diversity within the party. Johansson and Portman are white, Washington is African-American.

Meanwhile, an appearance by the trio would come one week after another political surprise move by a Hollywood royal.

Clint Eastwood delivered an unannounced speech at the Republican National Convention on Romney's behalf on Thursday. Though it was well received by conservatives in attendance and others watching at home – Eastwood's speech, where he had a conversation with an imaginary President Obama represented by an empty chair, was mocked by many others.

One thing Eastwood has in common with the women: they are all critically acclaimed actors.

In addition to positive reviews in other films, Portman won an Academy Award in 2011 for her role in "The Black Swan." Johansson has seen critical acclaim for roles in films such as "Lost in Translation," "A Love Song for Bobby Long" and "The Other Boleyn Girl." Washington currently stars in ABC's hit show "Scandal" and roundly received praise for her roles in the films "For Colored Girls," "The Last King of Scotland" and the Ray Charles biopic, "Ray."

Johansson, Portman and Washington were vocal supporters of Obama in 2008.

Lisa, no one discredits their success, it's just that according to obama and the dems, they didn't "build it" it was all due to others. They obviously don't have talent, anyone could do what they did if only the "others" had built them instead! lol

Funny, but during the RNC last week I didn't hear one speaker who could stick to the first person singular "I Built It." Somehow, eventually, the thanks to others always came out - to parents, family, friends, teachers, bosses or co-workers or employees, that banker who gave them that first loan, and a chance. Even the big sign said "We Built It". So I think the Republicans agree with the Democrats - or anyone with any common sense - on this point.

As for talent: Anyone with Mitt Romney's or Paul Ryan's opportunities could have made something of themselves - America is full of small investor millionaires that you've never heard of and guys from well-to-do families who move up by marrying into even wealthier families. Very few people can make a great movie, no matter how many chances they get. Even the best experience a great deal of hit-or-miss (see, for example, Clint Eastwood's career. And he's a much better actor/director than he is a political pundit).

Hollywood studio exectuives should sit these dumb pretty girls down, and explain to them how siding with one party or another only serves to cut their fan base, earnings, and revenue in Half. Dumb move. Just stand there and do what you do well honey, look pretty, because youre not good at anything else.

Side with a party, cut your revenues in half. Hollywood studios need to sit these girls and have a talk wtih them about their reduced earning potential and what it does to their career in the long run. Remember Schwarzennegar. He was a Kennedy! Lol.

Please, send the Hollywood elite home.

We are not making a movie, we are trying to present solutions to Americans (legal ) with real solutions to real problems.

So the DNC thinks these three oh-so wise and worldly actresses will miraculously turn around the fortunes of Obama's boring and outright libelous campaign? Good luck with that.
The reason Eastwood worked was because he's a known commodity, in the minds of many he's an old acquaintance that you enjoy spending time with and hearing stories from. These three have no background to speak of, other than being fawned over and shoved into the latest "great designer" dresses for red carpet walks. Where's the history or substance?
I'm sure it'll be riveting TV to hear their "stories". I'll pass, there's a Yankees game on.

Work hard, play by the rules, be honest, be a legal registered voter and vote, pay your legally required taxes and what do you get?

A message on Same Se–x Marriage, Abortion, Government spending solves all problems and hate speech towards those of faith.

DNC, you may remove GOD from our classrooms, government buildings, money, and your platform – but be sure of this fact – you will never remove GOD from America or our hearts!

A perfect contrast: An experienced and successful businessman and governor versus a pretty face who is good at reading other people's lines.

Now now. Don't disparage St. Ronnie Reagan like that. We can't take you seriously since you mentioned successful businessman and governor. That certainly is not an accurate statement of Willard. "Failed, part-time, illegitimate governor and corporate raider" is much more fitting. Mitt didn't build anything, certainly not around the home with hardware stuff. He hasn't built businesses, he's inherited, he's destroyed and liquidated and pocketed. Big difference.

"Do you know what a hypothetical question is? Learn context clues, sister. Typical Republican: act first, think later."
Want to go hypothetical, "sister"??? OK, here's a "hypothetical" for you...

What if science, which is improving constantly, proved, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that life begins at conception. What will be the democrats response to the 50 million aborted babies since 1973? Will they just say "oops"?

I seriously suggest you stop asking hypothetical questions, unless you're in a philosophy class.

As Rudy NYC pointed out, he asked the question. Again: comprehend, think, and then type.

All three are popular, award-winning actresses REALLY, Exactly what award did Washington and Johansson won?. None of them could carry Clint Eastwood's script.

    Paul B

@Lisa P Put down the kool aid and take a deep breath. In general, Democrats encourage bigger government in the belief that the government knows how to take care of people better than the people themselves. In general, Republicans encourage smaller government in the belief that individuals know what is best for themselves. These aren't absolutes, as there are many examples of the opposite. I have moved to become more libertarian, as I want less government intrusion into my life. The Republicans are not the perfect choice, but I am damn sure not going with the current Democrats. If you want contraceptives, buy them yourself. If I am not harming anyone other than myself, no one should interfere.
    September 5, 2012 02:24 pm at 2:24 pm
Opportunity is not intrusion. Democrats believe in a level playing field so the best have a chance to excel, a safety net so the worst aren't left to squalor (though if you insist that squalor is what you want to live in we can make an exception in you case), and some regulations so the rest of us don't waste our time with poisoned air, water or food or toxic economic schemes. You know - a civil society that we all build for all our benefit. If you really think you can do it all yourself I can recommend some no-functioning government countries you might want to move to to never be heard from again. If you insist on hurting yourself.

And I would be happy to accept your gift of contraceptives in return for my promise not to produce loads and loads of kids who might someday infringe on your misanthropic self-involved isolation. It seems to me that you are getting the better part of that bargain.
