Hustler magazine offers $1 million for a different type of exposure

(CNN) - A magazine known for its sexually explicit material is offering a reward of $1 million dollars for a different type of bare-all expose.

The publisher of Hustler magazine, Larry Flynt, is offering the sum for the skinny on GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's financials, the magazine announced.

- Follow the Ticker on Twitter: @PoliticalTicker

- Check out the CNN Electoral Map and Calculator and game out your own strategy for November.

It is taking out full-page advertisements in two newspapers - The Washington Post on Sunday, and USA Today on Tuesday - "offering up to a million dollars in cash for documented evidence concerning Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's unreleased tax returns and/or details of his offshore assets, bank accounts and business partnerships," a press release from the magazine read.

Flynt's announcement could be seen as either an attempt to keep the issue of Romney's financial documents alive or put himself - and his magazine - in headlines.

Romney has released his tax returns for 2010 and an estimate of his 2011 tax liability, but has repeatedly said he would not release additional years, saying it would be fodder for Democrats to criticize him.

In recent months, various political figures, including some Republicans, have called for more transparency from Romney.

Earlier in the week, an anonymous online poster claimed it was holding stolen tax documents belonging to Romney ransom for $1 million in an internet currency. Should the sum not be paid by later this month, the posting said a key to unlock the documents would be released publicly, while the financial firm from which the documents were allegedly stolen said there is "no evidence of unauthorized access to our data."

Waiting to see if someone got access to his records and taxes since Romney won't come clean on his dealings and finances. I thought every presidental candidate should had to come clean and show his finances to know the facts. Hiding them or just not releasing them shows he has something to hide. Do we need someone who can't come clean up front, no. I know I won't be voting for any republican to send up backwards. We are still trying to get from under the mess left and are doing nothing to help get from under it.

Sad it has to come to this, what Is Mitt hiding, why don't Republicans want to know. Is their hatred of the black man in the White House so great, that they would vote for a liar and a fraud over a man of integrity, just because of the color of his skin. I would say shame on you, but it doesn't seem that the family values crowd is capable of shame.

I love it! I don't know why the media is letting up on this story. We The People demand to see more years of Willard Capone's taxes. He's "running for office for Pete's sake." I've got a feeling that WikiLeaks or the hacking group "Anonymous" has got his taxes and are going to publically release them right in time for the election. Fingers are crossed.

Don Lemon's interview with Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz was shameful – Mr Lemon behaved like a bully, posturing himself as a serious journalist while in reality engaging in shallow grandstanding. It was a cheap tactic, among the worst examples of the cheapening of television journalism.

Larry's a fighter. Will take on hypocrits like Falwell and Mitt the Twit and will win. I don't agree with Larry's business model but he is true American who pays his taxes. It will be interesting what comes about due to his offer. America doesn't want to elect a tax fraud. If impeached, Eagle Scout Ryan would be then president. OMG. Scared thinking about that.

Go get em' Larry! Get's my vote!

    NO MORE TAX RETURNS..!??
You know what I think a campaign should be started to make sure that Romney looses by the BIGGEST LANDSLIDE in American history!

He IS going to loose but I think a message should be sent that the American people will NOT tolerate anyone who has CLEARLY conducted some of the most UN-AMERICAN activities that anyone running for president has ever done (at least that we know about).

    1. Owning a company that bankrupted American businesses putting thousands of Americans out of work and causing them to loose their healthcare, pensions and in many cases financial ruin.

    2. Owning a company that pioneered the practice of sending American jobs overseas.

    3. Using every known loophole in the book to avoid paying taxes on the MILLIONS he earned from the activities mentioned above. Hiding millions that not even the US Government can find out about to avoid paying US taxes (tax evasion) which is deplorable taking into consideration how got the money in the first place. If he was willing to earn his money in that way he should have been willing to take some responsibility to help support those he put in need by paying as much tax as he possibly could.

    4. Even more deplorable, denying responsibility for some of the most reprehensible activities Bain conducted, including those mentioned above!

He was CEO at that time (running it or not) and could have stopped it and fired everyone involved but did nothing! Why, because he wanted the money.

Let's launch a campaign and send this message that we the People, will not allow ANYONE to take advantage of our freedoms and insult our intelligence the way this guy is trying to! We should make sure that this is the BIGGEST LANDSLIDE in American history!

To any republicans reading this comment, fact check me if you want. Oh wait you people do not accept facts, checked or not. What was I thinking.

Romney says his experience as a “business” man qualifies him to get the economy “moving”. He does not say how he would do that (though we know about less taxes for the rich and more for the middle class and getting rid of those pesty regulations...) but that is why it is so important to know how he has conducted “business”! This might not be the way to get his tax-returns but what they show has to be known BEFORE the election! So, show them!!! Anybody voting for Gov. Romney on “trust me” handles very negligent for the country.

    >>but has repeatedly said he would not release additional years, saying it would be fodder for Democrats to criticize him.

what kind of fodder could that be?
Does not pay personal taxes for years?
His business skill is all about dodging taxes?

SHOW your birth certificate and your taxes, US and otherwise?
Are most of your assets in the US? Or did they move with the jobs you liquidated in the US?

Gotta wonder just how bad that stuff must be if Romney is fighting so hard against releasing his tax returns. I imagine he bet against the US economy and probably made a few hundred million off the 2008 economic collapse. If that's the case, the reason he can't disclose would make sense: it would show he was betting against the very same policies (e.g. Bush policies of lower taxes for the very rich and eliminating regulations on the financial markets) that he now espouses. Or, perhaps it's far worse than that.

I heard that someone in Franklin, TN kidnapped Romney's encrypted tax records and are asking for 1 million dollars to un-encrypt the data, already (supposedly) distributed to media outlets. I love it! This is the greatest political thriller since Watergate!!! Heck, if I had the million I'd sent it to em Fedex!
