No malarkey: Biden likes beer and firefighters

(CNN) – It wasn't a formal invitation, but it was an invitation nonetheless.

While attending a barbecue for firefighters in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden came across Brad Shober, the deputy fire chief, who he met at last year's ceremony commemorating the tenth anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.

Biden, who also hosted Shober and other Shanksville firefighters at his residence in Washington last year, told the deputy chief and other firefighters assembled he wanted them to come back to the nation's capital for a second visit.

"He's going to call you, no bullshit," Biden said, pointing to an aide.

Noticing reporters, the vice president changed his terminology.

"This is no malarkey," Biden said. "You come to the White House. I'll buy you a beer."

Biden eventually found himself at the grill, where he helped himself to a hamburger with a slice of American cheese. His $20 donation to the firefighters also covered the lunch of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, who, along with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, traveled to Shanksville with Biden.

Earlier in the day, the vice president spoke at a remembrance ceremony near the crash site of a flight hijacked on September 11, 2001 - eleven years ago Tuesday.

"What they did for this country is still etched in the minds of not only you, but millions of Americans forever," Biden said of passengers on Flight 93 who forced the hijackers to crash the plane believed headed for a suicide attack on the U.S. Capitol.

No BS, er, I mean no malarkey, I like Joe. Joe says it like it is and sometimes, well, says things that make you say "that's just Joe." When Joe speaks, I believe him. I'd have a beer with Joe any day!

Joe may be goofy, but he is a regular guy. I lived in DE most of my life and knew his brother Frank, also a decent guy. I happened to be walking into a hotel for a rally during the 80's right behind J.B. It was the first time he'd appeared in public since his brain aneurism. I recognized the guy at the door as a politics-type I had gone to high school with. His eyes got really wide and before he could greet the senator, Joe stuck out his hand and said "Hi, I'm Joe Biden." The door guy was walking on air the rest of the night. That's class.

Thank you Mr. Vice President for keeping your and the President's word in leaving politics out of speeches and airwaves today.
Unfortunately, the twit couldn't help himself when speaking to National Guar troops today (how ironic, as if he really ares). I would think he would have tried to speak to other groups. Maybe those who have not been to Afghanistan as he seemed to have forgotten all about the brave men and women who have fought there in the last 11 years during the rnc cu lt convention.

"besides, local government pays for firefighters, no the feds."

Name me a state or municipality that functions entirely without the absolute necessity of federal money helping it make ends meet.

IT DOES NOT EXIST. And it's primarily red states that are soaking up the lion's share of that federal aid to states and municipalities, taking in more federal aid than their citizens pay in federal taxes...taking money from the blue states to run their failing GOP/Teatroll ideologue led trickle-down nightmares.

a real lot of mentally deficit lefties in here that can't differentiate between legitimate government services and stealing money from people who produce to give to those that do not produce. besides, local government pays for firefighters, no the feds. honestly, you guys should have tried to finish third grade.
