(CNN) - Rep. Paul Ryan begins running TV commercials Wednesday in his congressional district in Wisconsin as he seeks an eighth term in the House.
It's a race that the Republican vice presidential nominee wants to win, but a term that he hopes that he won't have to serve.

Ryan's House re-election campaign Tuesday confirmed to CNN that the spots, the first ads this cycle, will run in the TV markets in Milwaukee and Madison. Campaign manager Kevin Seifert says the commercial "is the first in the series of ads that will be rolled out between now and November 6th by Ryan for Congress, and you can expect to see additional TV, radio and print advertisements."
Word of the ad was first reported nationally by Associated Press.
Ryan has represented Wisconsin's first congressional district, which is located in the southeast part of the state, for seven terms. He won 68% of the vote in his 2010 re-election.
Wisconsin law allows Ryan to run for vice president and his House seat at the same time, but if he wins both contests he can only serve one office.
Then Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware was in a similar situation in 2008. He was on the Democratic ticket as then Sen. Barack Obama's running mate, and he also ran for re-election to a seventh term in the Senate. Biden won both races, and resigned his Senate seat to serve as vice president.
Biden did run one commercial as he cruised to re-election. It was a minute long spot that went up in late October 2008, just before the election.
Then Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, who was Vice President Al Gore's running mate on the 2000 Democratic ticket, also ran for re-election to his seat in Connecticut. The Democratic ticket eventually lost the presidential contest, but Lieberman won re-election to his Senate seat.
Ryan's House re-election ads come in the same week as the Romney campaign goes up with spots in Wisconsin, a competitive state in the race for the White House.

This guy is PATHETIC.

Pathetic is Obama re-using most of his speech from 2008, couldn't even write a brand new speech.
That's smart. He's not going to be VP in Jaunary.
"Ryan has represented Wisconsin's first congressional district, which is located in the southeast part of the state, for seven terms" what happened to term limits ???
Myviews did the mention of Osama Bin Laden is Dead and GM is alive come from 2008?
It was a very different speech, including Foreign Policy with regards to the Afghan war. What the ACA is doing and will do in the next couple of years, more help to education funding and making a commitment to educate more of the American children, making teachers responsible and schools better.
@ my viewis what is pathetic is that Romney is still flip-floping like it's 1990 all over agian. Look at the senate debate with Ted Kennedy, doing the same old tap dance. You boy is a wimp and does not know who he is.
This is weird. Does he want to be VP or Representative. I said, neither....

Your just one big critical thinker MV. You can't hear if you don't listen !
The fact is Ryan is more lobbyist then a statesmen . And now he is showing his true colors , he should stand with Romney for he committed to run for VP. Ryan thinks he can run two marathons on the same day in different cites !
What is pathetic is what Romney's platform was 5 years ago. Not one mention of the economy !
