Romney's '47%' – Washington's tax break obsession to blame

New York (CNNMoney) - Mitt Romney's videotaped remarks made public this week point to at least one true fact: Nearly half of American taxpayers do indeed end up paying no federal income tax.

In footage taped with a hidden camera at a Romney fundraiser in May, the Republican presidential candidate describes the "47% of the people who will vote [for President Obama] no matter what." He says they are "dependent on government" and "believe they are victims." They "pay no income tax," he says.

I am currently not part of the 47% Mitt speaks of. I am however, working towards retirement in the next 4 or 5 years. Once I get there I will join the percentage of Americans who will not pay much in taxes. What Mitt fails to understand is, the majority of the 47% HAVE paid taxes during their working lives. They also paid into Social Security and Medicare with the understanding that when they retired, they would receive some of the benefits they've paid for over the past 40 plus years. I've paid my dues and I want my benefits. That doesn't make me or any of the 47% he's talking about victims, freeloaders, or any other labels he wants to place on us. Let's be clear, there are far more than 47% of the US population expecting to receive Social Security and Medicare when it's their time and rightly so. IS HE A FOOL OR WHAT???

I am the victim. I work, pay taxes and someone else gets my money. I am the middle class. I can barely afford my health insurance let alone pay for someone else's.

Mitt: Hey, you really should get to know America. It's a great country.

However, we have leared that when politicians realize that our country is more than just the rich and poor, when they realize we all have talents and something to give ... our country is stronger. If you get to be president you will realize that most of the people who fight and die for our country come from that 47% you despise so much. Check out the Vietnam memorial in DC ... those ain't the names of Harvard and Yale types. You see now? You had enough advantages in your life to be able to sit out Vietnam in France, no less. Your friend President GW Bush's daddy had money too.

So in my opinion, you ought to grovelling to all those people in 47% and thanking them for saving your sorry butt.

With kindest regards, a white, upper middle-class guy who i has had a job since he was was 11 years old and today is 61 years ol. PS ... yes I am proudly voting for our President.

Heard the interview, listened as intently as humanly possible. Heard the rantings of a man unsure of his position, on any subject. Heard a man, explaining the position of the wealthy, the supposed people the republicans say they are shunning in favor of the middle class. Heard more, and more convoluted logic coming in an attempt to gain power for the republican party, as opposed to running the nation in a way that would be equitable for all. Just can not believe that this man would ever be considered presidential material. But really can not believe the American people would be hood winked into believing the republicans would ever care about anyone but the most wealthy among the populace.

    From the article:
The No Tax Club includes some of the very rich - a few thousand a year usually. But the group of nonpayers is made up disproportionately of low- and lower-middle-income households.
    ----------

Indeed this club includes some of the very rich - Mitt Romney may or may not be included (we'll never know unless he releases a handful more of HIS tax returns). This is why Romney is running for President. Not to help the middle class (in fact, on the tape he admits he doesn't care about them) but to increase tax cuts for the very wealthy - himself included. As well as all those corporations are people too friends of his:

    Tax rate:
    2.4% GoogIe
    2.0% CarnivaI Cruises
    1.0% GoIdman
0.0% JPM on $12 Billion Income (REFUND $1.4Billion)
    0.0% Exxon
    0.0% Bank of America
    0.0% WeIIs Fargo
    0.0% AT&T
    0.0% GE
    0.0% PhiIIip Morris
    0.0% BristoI Meyers
    0.0% PFlZER

and so on and so on and so on.

THESE are the folks Mitt Romney cares about. Unfortunately those outside of Obama's voting bracket ... those Republicans who are themselves included in Mitts condemnation ... will never understand that Mitt Romney is treating them with as equal condemnation as he is treating ALL who are (in his mind) within the same income rate as Democrats. Including the millions of Americans collecting their hand earned social security, Republican and Democrat alike.

"If I told them what my plans are, they wouldn't vote for me" said Mitt Romney. Wake up America ... he is talking about ALL middle class and low income Americans regardless of party affiliation.

It is not unusual for Republicans to insult almost half of the country, but it takes a special kind of Republicans, Mitt Romney, to insult one of the few groups of people who still favors Republicans. Hey Mitt, do you know that 10.3% of all households do not pay income tax because they are retired and elderly?

What he says is the truth. The democRATS have long established that they gain votes by keeping people on the government dole. If it pi$$es you off, too bad. The democRATS are always yelling about the top wage earners need to pay more – this is exactly why. Too many do NOT pay taxes.

Finally, we see the true Mormon Mitt and his disdain and disgust for the "working poor".

Trying to find the facts on food stamps.
All info says there are 46 to 47 million people on food stamps which is only about 15% of the us population.
This is a long way from the 47% Romney is using.
