Ryan for Congress ad: Safety goggles for safety campaign
(CNN) – One of the first ads for Rep. Paul Ryan's congressional campaign debuted online Wednesday, though the spot's staged conversation with factory workers stands in sharp contrast to the slickly produced ads produced for the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan GOP presidential ticket.
The ad, which CNN reported last week would air in Milwaukee and Madison, features Ryan speaking to a group of factory workers. One asks, "What can be done to create good jobs?"

"First, we need to end the growing government control over the economy, and when we put higher tax rates on American job creators than our foreign competitors do, we push jobs overseas," Ryan, wearing plastic safety goggles, tell her. "We need to fix that and make our tax code fair, simple, and more competitive. We should balance the budget and eliminate ridiculous regulations that cost you money. With the right solutions, we can get this economy growing."
Still in his goggles, Ryan gives his legally mandated disclosure: "I'm Paul Ryan and I approve this message."
Ryan has represented Wisconsin's first congressional district, which is located in the southeast part of the state, for seven terms. He won 68% of the vote in his 2010 re-election.
Wisconsin law allows Ryan to run for vice president and his House seat at the same time, but if he wins both contests he can only serve one office.
Then-Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware was in a similar situation in 2008. He was on the Democratic ticket as then Sen. Barack Obama's running mate, and he also ran for re-election to a seventh term in the Senate. Biden won both races, and resigned his Senate seat to serve as vice president.
Biden did run one commercial as he cruised to re-election. It was a minute long spot that went up in late October 2008, just before the election.

I thought that you had to go for one or the other? I have never heard of a VP candidate also running for their old job at the same time. Boy, that shows a lot of faith in Romney, doesn't it?

How ironic. Wearing safety goggles flies in the face of everything this man stands for. In his Randian world view children would be working in that factory in their bare feet at three in the morning.
Like Bill Clinton said at the DNC convention. Over the last 52 years, Democrats have held the WH for 24 years, and Republicans have held the WH for 28 years. Democrats created 42 million jobs, while Republicans created 24 million.
How does he feel about the safety glasses? I'd like him to acknowledge what role government does have to play. I haven't heard that. All he and Romney have said is that they want less government. The problem is that they don't say what kind and where government should cut (except the DoD because that is always needed).

I think the remaining adults in the GOP leadership should have run Palin/Insert name of ideologue here instead, suffered a staggering loss and then turned to the T-partiers and other ignorant bigoted misanthropes in the party and said – this is what happens when the children are in charge. Sadly something that extreme is needed to stop the downward spiral of the GOP.

Rep. Paul seems to ignore that fact that most other states (sic nations) have value add taxes which provide these governments revenues in each step of the production process. This in turn lowers the rate foreign corporations pay on profits. That doesnt make the overall burden lower. So if Rep. Ryan wants to complain about the perceived inequalities in the tax rates U.S. corporations maybe he should consider proposing a VAT. To me it sounds like he is espousing the tax structures, or at least jealous of, the many European states he accuses Pres. Obama of trying to emulate.
The safety glases are to protect his eyes from all the bull doodoo that him and Robmey are flinging around every time they open their piehole to speak.
I've never heard of somone who was running for V.P. simultaneously run for anothe public office. Doesn't that say something about how much they believe in their "Believe in America" crap? I think they DON'T believe that they're going to be successful at buying their way into the White House, so they are hedging their bets and covering the board. That's what I believe.

The tax rates have been cut for the purported "job creators" since the Bush years and still no job growth. And if that is not proof positive that this GOP approach to economics is a fallacy, Herbert Hoover tried the same unsuccessful approach in the early thirties as the alleged "job creators" put the money saved on taxes in their pockets and the Great Depression worsened, until FDR was elected and started the country on the road to recovery. America, put down your TV remote and read some history so you do no make the same mistake again.

Why is Ryan speaking to people who already have jobs about creating jobs? I would think that speaking to people LOOKING for employment would make more sense. He is preaching to the choir, it seems.
Where has he been for the last six or seven years? Now that he is a candidate for VP he is interested in the subject. Judging by his record and that of Mitt Romney I would not want to venture a guess about their involvements after election day. This change is occurring because Mr. Ryan and Mr. Romney have not had success with their message. it is changing for now but what will happen later is anyone's guess. Just take a good look at MA and the Western end of the state. Mr. Romney forgot that we existed.
