Justice Department: Diciplinary action, no criminal sanctions in Fast and Furious probe

(CNN) - The U.S. Justice Department's inspector general found 14 employees of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responsible for management failures in the botched Fast and Furious gun-trafficking operation, according to a report released Wednesday.

The inspector general's report referred the 14 for possible disciplinary action, but did not recommend criminal sanctions.

The IG report found that Holder was not informed of the controversial ATF operation until 2011 after the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in December 2010.

Enough said. This just goes to show you that Issa was on a witch hunt and was intentionally trying to smear the AG's good name. Shame on you Darryl Issa! Shame on you!!!

Yes, how nice that the Obama administration will slap themselves on the wrist and go to bed without supper after contributing to the deaths of hundreds of Mexican citizens as well as an American Border Patrol officer, not the mention all of the laws that they broke to accomplish all of this.

The lawless incompetent Obama adminstration is deadly, as we have seen in Libya as well.

How many people will their incompetence kill? I fear the final tally is still not in.

truth hurts – Were you equally outraged over Bush / Cheney allowing 4000 Americans to die on 9/11? Or when over 6000 soldiers died in a fraudulent war in Iraq and a war the Bush administration gave up on in Afghanistan? STFU you hypocritical mental midget.

Report also finds that, not only did Holder and high-ranking DOJ officials not know of ATF's and AZ law enforcement's decision to let the guns "walk," but that DOJ did not purposefully lie in the February 4, 2011 letter as Issa and the GOP accused and that, in response to the demnds for more info and docs, DOJ "“appropriately refused to make any substantive comments about the investigation in light of the additional information it had learned and its referral of the matter to the OIG in February.” CNN, of course, is spinning this to help give the Teatrolls the false impression that the report is bad for Holder and DOJ, as opposed to exonerating them like ti really does.

Well, they've got a ways to go to catch up to the illegal invasion of Iraq( based upon wishful thinking and faulty intelligence), the lies about WMDs, no-bid contracts to Halliburton, and failing to catch Osama Bin Ladin for a decade. But hey, at least Issa gets to have his pound of flesh, thats all that matters, eh?

Yes, not closing Gitmo, killing in Libya to protect Oil, robot drones killing villagers, is more important.

Re: Investigation of "Fast & Furious" ATF Operation

If new organizations want to present a balanced set of objective facts, they need to start with the fact that the National Rifle Association has enormous influence in Washington - this was demonstrated by the stunning silence in response to Mayor Bloomberg's call for gun control in the wake of the Colorado theater tragedy. The NRA has pockets full of politicians that do their bidding. And the NRA cannot accept the idea that the ATF should even exist. My view is that the representatives and senators that are beholding to the NRA, and the NRA itself, are, and have been, looking for a pretext, any pretext, to dismantle the ATF. Because they do not have the votes to eliminate the ATF outright, their plan is to under- fund the ATF, and then wait for a pretext to eliminate the ATF. This is another example of the corrosive and corrupting influence of money on our political system. This news story cries for an investigative journalist to follow the money and to show the American people how the NRA has bought influence and corrupted the process to such an extent that the ATF cannot get a fair hearing in Washington.

To all the NRA members out there: I do not have any past or present interest in the ATF; but I do have a passionate interest in fairness and a democratic republic.

After reading the posts above, I wonder if anyone actually read the report/article. The DOJ's Assistant Attorney General knew about it and allowed it to continue. For those that are saying that it started under Bush, read the report....Bush didn't let the one proposed go through. The DOJ at the time stopped it. This administration feels that they are above the law as they have shown so many times during the past 3 1/2 years. The Obama administration needs to be put into retirement on election day.

Mitt Romney is not fit to lead our great country. He never discusses how he is going to fix the economy because he plans to use the same useless plan that George Bush used which put us in the red. Tax cuts for the rich is not going to turn things around for the better of our country. It will only make matters worse. We can't afford another Republican agenda. Romney made a fool of himself on his last trip to England, stirred up trouble with Russia, and insulted the Palestinians. Not good. Obama is clearly the best choice for our country. He is in touch with all the people and all the issues and problems we face. Romney is a total abomination.
