Greensboro, North Carolina (CNN) – Republican vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan said Mitt Romney’s leaked comments were “obviously inarticulate” in an interview Tuesday, but stood by the point that people have become too dependent on government under President Barack Obama.
“He was obviously inarticulate in making this point, and the point we’re trying to make here is under the Obama economy, government dependency is up and economic stagnation is up, and what we’re trying to achieve is getting people off of government dependency and back to a job that pays well and gets them onto a path of prosperity,” Ryan said in the interview with KRNV in Reno, Nevada.

He echoed that sentiment at two public events Tuesday, though Ryan did not comment directly on Romney’s remarks - recorded at a private fundraiser in May - that were leaked on Monday.
Romney acknowledged his comments were “not elegantly stated,” though he has also stood by the general thrust of his remarks.
Reporter Joe Hart asked Ryan if his running mate regrets what he said.
“Oh I think he would have said it differently, that’s for sure, but the point still stands,” Ryan said. “We have too many people becoming too dependent upon government because of the poor economic policies of the Obama administration.”
He would say that since his acceptance speech was 97% full of lies!
Too dependent on government? Who, the banks?
Does Ryan understand that a large amount of the 47% Romney is talking about is retirees and Vets?
Funny how Mitt and Paul keep comparing Obama to Jimmy Carter.... welll it's ironic how Jimmy Carter's grandson set this thing in motion... laughing all the way to the polls.... to vote for Obama
This isn't a time for Republicans to be elected to the highest office.
Inarticulate? No, he articulated his sentiments very nicely. It's the content of what he said that's cheesing people off.
BTW, do you know who aren't allowed to "lean on" the government? It's the people of Florida who lose their jobs now as Rick Scott and his cronies have passed so many laws against workers it makes it almost impossible to file for unemployment.
romney was speaking from his heart. This is what he really believe in his heart about poor, elderly, children and people of color. These people dont fit into Romney's world.
It is sad to see how blindly this two fools trying to get us to see something that is not there. We know who pays tax and who don’t, and we know who depends on government. I just can’t wait this to be over. I am so tired seeing republicans lies and get away with it, it is too much. Romney and Ryan liars!
Why are you ignoring obama's comments on late night tv that the debt of $16 trillion is nothing to talk about? But harping on Romney's comments. Plus you're ignoring the presidents lack of straight talk or even the lack of talk on the middle east. You can certainly tell your network is for Obama!
This from a man who wouldn't know the truth if it slapped him on the back of the thighs with a hairbrush. I suppose shaving more than an hour and a half off your marathon time was inarticulate too, Lyin' Ryan?
Ryan, if your mother is on Medicare, wouldn't that make her "dependent on the government"? Then she would be in the 47% Romney spoke of!!!
That is why Romney should NOT be president. He is inarticulate!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obama/Biden 2012
Listen up, GOP. The LAST thing America needs in a president is a president who follows the advice of Rush Limbaugh and FOX News. Both have been trying to destroy America for well over ten years now.
There is no way that Mitt Romney should EVER be allowed near the White House. Period.
Enjoy your couple of months of public view. Obama is a hands down WINNER in Nov.
Mr. Ryan, Mr. Romney statement may not have been articulate, but the statement sure as hell shows Mr. Romney's true feelings.
Ryan sat and sits in Congress. At the moment the GOP majority in Congress has an approval rating of about 12%. So he is to tell us all about how HE works for US???? Well, they claim, 47% of the people are not worth their attention!
Please get your voter ID and as we vote for President Obama in November, do not forget to send the GOP/TP congress of “NO” and GOP Senators of “filibuster” home too!
inarticilate? he has zero empathy for anyone who is not ultra wealthy. he is not human, he is the beast!
Lyin' Ryan has been an integral part in hampering the recovery from the Bush republican near depression. It takes 'brass' to blame someone else for what Ryan and the congressional baggers did.
Inarticulate is "lacking the ability to express oneself, especially in clear and effective speech." Romney expressed an opinion quite clearly, there was othing inarticulate about it.
I"m sorry Mr Ryan I have to disagree with you, he's not inarticulate. I believe that is how he honestly feels.
Romney was caught saying EXACTLY what he feels about the working folks! He considers us ill-informed fools willing to believe anything he says – like his under-educated and bigoted base of hate voters. Now he's got "Lyin-Ryan" on the stump spewing out the distortions he's so willing to use. The Romney campaign is finished!
It's fun watching the GOP in the damage control mode while trying to play catch-up!
Romney's strategy in minimizing the effects of his latest remarks is nothing short of brilliant. Comparing what Romney said a few days ago to something Obama said 14 YEARS ago will surely win over people with no teeth who live in trailers.
It is hard to keep on message when the real agenda keeps leeking out of the candidate's mouth.
You can't just love America, you have to love Americans (and by that I mean people, not corporations).
Keep talking Slick Joe, you and the Captain Zero, just keep sinking into the quicksand of lies and arrogance..
