Two million more expected to pay penalty under Obamacare

New York (CNNMoney) - Congress' official scorekeeper said Wednesday that roughly two million more Americans will pay penalties under President Obama's health care law for lacking insurance than had previously been estimated.

Under the law, Americans must be insured starting in 2014 or pay a penalty assessed on their tax returns.

Every one should have some skin in the game. I am tired of seeing my premiums increase to pay for uninsured republicans who show up at the emergency room.

Two million expected to pay lower premiums than offered by Insurance Companies

That's what the title should say. But, that wouldn't be sensational enough to get ratings up.

Very simple........ Medicare for all US citizens. This would eliminate all health care issues in the wok place, including workers comp. No medical on car or homeowners insurance. Most of all, no more medicaid. Everyone pay on every dime they make including investment income. The Medicare tax would be very small.

This law passed 100% by Democrats and 0% by Republicans is a scam on the American public and the American taxpayer. The Obama/ Pelosi/ Reid Washington Democratic Debt Machine was still celebrating their historic 2008 victory when they just crammed this through from locked back rooms loaded with lobbyists from their special interests and has come to define all that is wrong with government. Woefully underestimating the cost and overestimating the benefits. Fortunately American voters know how to fix this before it takes the American healthcare system to its knees. Romney/ Ryan 2012!

Great reporting CNN. In your attempt at trying to appease the right-wing knuckle-draggers, you failed to mention that the "penalty" isn't enforced. It's totally meaningless, just like your attempts at wooing the right-wingers over here.

Since the uninsured cause the insured to pay much, much higher healthcare premiums why shouldn't they pay a penalty? Why should I pay more because some deadbeat wants to get a faster car or a bigger truck rather than pay for his healthcare coverage? Buy some insurance and pay no penalty.. why is that concept so challenging?

Yes but they also don't say it'll only cost the ones that really don't want it.This ACA bill is a small price to pay if you've been ever hospitalized for more than a day..I have and its capable of bankrupting anyone no matter how much you've saved or make..The penalty is like $60-100 for the first year and going up after that. They don't want you going to the emergency room running up a bill then not paying it,that's why its put out their to curtail the unnecessary expense of always using the hospital instead of a primary doctor costing way less...Read the plan,it needs work but its a start, republicans would have never given people a health plan, that's fact!!

So are Republicans going to use this as an opportunity to bash Obama because, well.. its Obama. Or will they be happy Obama is penalizing the 'freeloaders" for not having insurance and expecting the rest of us to pay for them if they get sick...
Who am I fooling.. they will bash Obama if he cured cancer.

I am sure by 2014, those so-called MILLIONS of Americans will be employed!! Oh wait, if they ARE employed now and not buying health insurance then they should be penalized. Why should the taxpayers pay for them??? Also, if they are NOT working, they cannot be penalized – they will be eligible for health care under ObamaCares. So don't make this more than what it is!!

Funny little word, "or." Twenty million will pay penalties OR buy insurance. Tenty million who can afford insurance, but who selfishly choose to refuse to take responsibility for their own lives and, instead, place the cost of their health care on the rest of us.

Yep = instead of going to the ER for a hang nail and running up all Insurance Rates.

The fees for ACA are dependent on family income, not profits for the Ins. Cos.

Because we ARE all in this together.
