Washington (CNN) - The Romney campaign is inviting major donors and bundlers to a fall retreat set for October in New York City, CNN has learned.
According to an invitation, obtained by CNN, financial backers are invited to events spanning three days day scheduled to coincide with the second presidential debate, which is being held on Long Island, New York.

The retreat, which is seemingly patterned over a similar event held in June in Park City, Utah, starts with a dinner on Monday Oct. 15th and then includes three sessions the next day discussing various facets of the campaign and a debate watch party that night. The sessions are entitled "Campaign and Strategy Briefing," "Issues Facing America," and "Media Panel – The Final Three Weeks."
No word on who may participate in these panels, but if the Park City event is any indication it will probably be some of the top officials of the campaign as well as leading voices in the Republican Party. Several hundred major donors and bundlers attended the Utah gathering, which not only featured a speech by Mitt Romney himself but appearances by Sen. John McCain, former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove, former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice, Sen. Rob Portman, Gov. Bobby Jindal and eventual running mate Rep. Paul Ryan.
There is no official word about whether Romney or Ryan will attend all or part of this retreat.
These kinds of events also allow the top money backers of the campaign to mingle and interact with key decision makers of the campaign.
"As we enter the home stretch, we want to thank you for your support of the Romney Victory effort. We would not have reached this point without the help from generous donors like you; and Governor Romney and conservatives across this country are extraordinarily grateful for all you have done. We are excited to announce the details for a few of the activities that we have planned between now and Election Day," Romney national finance chairman Spencer Zwick said in an email to financial backers Thursday inviting them to this retreat.

Good idea... rake in as much money as possible to get the job done Romney. The Obama smear and lie machine will be in high gear and they get a LOT of free positive coverage by their backers. the Lame Street Media.

No amount of money will make up for the lack of campaign events he's doing. Senator Graham said it best when he said Romney needed to run like he "...was runing for Sheriff". He won't do it, so its just another bad investment on their part. Thompson has already complained that Romney is costing him his Senate run, and candidates can see him imploding. he needs to get his a$4 out there and talk to real people, not just the polo playing elite
truth hurts-
The only people funning a completely fact-free campaign these days are Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan.
Interesting-marc leder who held the party with the M.Romney video of the 47%-–had a party Aug 7th at his Hamptons estate with lots of naked activity at the pool-couldn't be in the 47%- and this is tax deductible. Wonder how the Romneys like that?
You can bet none of the 47% will be invited!

And it doesn't bother you that Obama has thrown in the towel??? Obama says he can't do it from inside Washington so we on the outside will have to handle Washington for him?????? Seriously, you're okay he wants to keep the chair of President while telling us that we have to deal with Congress???? This is pathetic!!!!!!
@ truth hurts...
Please tell us what the smears and lies Obama have told on Mitt Romney? I have yet to hear any.
A "Retreat" ?? At the Waldorf Astoria ?? Yeah, unless you are in an enviornment such as shared cabins with bunk beds or tents in the forest, it's not truely a 'retreat', it's a party. And when you're billing something as a 3-Day event, you may want to have more than 3 HOURS of actual substance on the agenda... this is just a party. What a boondoggle.
I'll bet $10,000 that there will be a lot fewer donors showing up at this retreat than at the one in Utah.
Look forward to the debates. Obama will be called to task for wild promises that did not deliver when the money was spent and his partisan political agenda that has poisoned Washington. We can do better for America. Romney/ Ryan 2012.
By that time, Romney will be trailing in the polss by 47%....nobody will be showing up to give him money for what will be a landslide victory for the President.

Oh, I look forward to the debates, too. The Tea Party has burnished Romney into the beast that they wanted. Too bad most voters will be turned off by it, when they take a good look at him. Before "Obama will be called to task for wild promises" Mitt Romney will have to make up some wild lies about the promises Pres. Obama allegedly made.
Really,myviews?
The President was telling the truth, like always. If you want change then you will have to elect people who are willing to work together to solve our nations problems, but when the first thing these Reps do is pledge not to raise taxes[ after two unpaid wars which should have started some sort of pay now, not kick down the road for our kids to pay ] .
Or the first thing a person of leadership says when our President takes office is their goal is to make him a one term president. These are not leaders and should be removed from their offices.[they will still get better healyhcare for life wiytout doing their job.Talking about moooooooochers!
Why are Romney and Ryan always so negative about the USA? They are so un-patriotic, and un-American. Their rich friends and donors are negative too. I just don't understand it ... this country has been so good to them, why must they downgrade it so much. (Speaking of downgrade, their hatred of the President and America caused a credit downgrade too.)
@truth hurts
How eloquent your name reflects the Republican world view.
Fortunately Obama is the opposite: TRUTH HELPS
