Rubio tweets his airline woes

(CNN) – Sen. Marco Rubio’s flight to Washington, D.C. Friday night was not all friendly skies.

But that was before he even took off.

The Senator from Florida shared his travel woes via a series of nine posts to Twitter.

“Every American flight I have been on this week has been at least two hours late or cancelled. This one already one hour delayed,” he posted Friday evening.

Shortly after, he posted, “American Air says maintenance problem.Yet suddenly group of new passengers boarding.Holding plane to get connectors on from delayed flight?”

In another post, he added, “Delaying flight for ‘maintenance’ to squeeze connectors from other flight, oldest trick in book. Feel bad for crew.#cmonman#AmericanAirlines.”

The pilots and flight attendants, he said in a separate post, are “top notch.”

But his skepticism towards the airline continued to be evident as he relayed: “Oh guess what? They fixed the plane! Just as the last of the connecting passengers finished boarding. #magic.”

His frustration earned him a sympathetic response from the airline.

“Thanks for your patience, Marco. We hope you have a great flight,” read a post to the official Twitter feed of American Airlines.

The pilots, Rubio said on the social media site, are “two military veterans, lovers of liberty and believers in Constitution.”

His stream of posts ended with what was likely a familiar directive from the cockpit.

“I must now turn [off] my electronic device,” he posted. “I hope tonight's tirade didn't cost me my Executive Platinum status.”

Rubio is no stranger to flight issues. In July, he eventually called into a campaign rally after his plane made what he described as an “emergency landing” when passengers aboard the plane believed they saw smoke.

And that, he said, was his second plane malfunction of the day.

Earlier Friday, a charter plane carrying Ann Romney, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s wife, was forced to make an emergency landing when what the pilot described as an electrical issue led to smoke in the cabin.

After everyone emerged from that flight safely, one of Romney’s sons himself took to Twitter to point out a light hearted moment between his mother and a Secret Service agent.

Matt Romney tweeted: “Who says USSS doesn't have sense of humor? Upon landing tonight, agent leaned over to my mom and said: ‘so this was the non-smoking flight.’ ”

Amid labor strife, bankruptcy proceedings and layoffs, American Airlines has canceled hundreds of flights through October.

Dose Rubio read the paper or watch the news ? His gibberish tweets , he not only sound adolescent but self absorbed .

This is what Rubio thinks of as public service , very unprofessional .

.. and now Rubio knows what the rest of us go through. Since deregulation, air travel has taken two courses: the service for the general public has been degrading, the management struggles with thin or no profits, and getting to another destination is consistently unpleasant. Separately, there's been a boon in private jets for the 1% (and Rubio knows this). And, in fact, when the heads of the three auto companies went with hands out to the Congress during the deepest part of the recession, each of the three had the gall to go to Washington on private jets. Most large corporations now have entire fleets. Why would the airlines invest in pleasantry when the "job creators" don't fly with them?

American airlines are a nightmare. That's why they are going under. The unhinged GOBP tea potty are going under too.

Dear Mr. Rubio: Isn't it wonderful that Democrats fought tooth and nail to regulate the airlines so they are forced to keep basic standards of safety? (You are welcome.) Republicans want, a la Ayn Rand, to let companies run free to do as they want. What they want is to make profits and forget about the thousands that will die as a result of deregulation. For them, that's just collateral damage. See? Sometimes regulations are good, like when it comes to your PERSONAL safety. Did you know that most of us don't have "Executive Paltinum" status? No, we work and pay taxes so that confused politicians like you can enjoy such priviledges. (No estamos a su orden.)

What a baby. Suck it up and try to stop whining. Rubio sounds immature and impatient. These are traits of the weak.

Plus, didn't he have any work to do? Or just had time to kill like a teenager bored with the old games on his phone. Sad Stuff Bro...

Poor little lying Cuban boy. Who cares? As if you are the only one whose flight has even been delayed or even canceled. Vacation this year with AA and we had to switch planes. So????? We got home safely. I just thought I would throw it in since nobody cares about it either.
Next time why don't you ask the twit if you can borrow one of those two (only two?) private planes of his to fly you around like the elitist you think you are.

What a jerk.. Instead of staying in Wash to hear the debates and possibly open his mind to change,he wastes money on extra plane fare and arrives just in time to frollow unstructions. Wush he was on the ballot. We could probably throw him out this year. He wouldn't even be the if the losing Democrat had stepped aside and let Charlie Crist take him on. Check the numbers.

Well, well Marco you and your party rage about private corporations vs Govt.Let me remind you that American Airlines was being all about corporate profits and couldn't care hoots about customer service, that's what happens when there are no regulations to save customers from these exploits by private company.I feel your pain you hypocrite.

And the GOP wants to privatize everything because they think the private sector can more efficiently run things. Yeah. Right. Just look at the airlines. Or the banks.

kissing butt of the pilots before the flight was smart.. what will not be so smart is in a couple of weeks these same two pilots he praised will be "calling in sick" and Rubio will be talking about the lazy overpaid pilots in the union.
