(CNN) – Sen. Marco Rubio’s flight to Washington, D.C. Friday night was not all friendly skies.
But that was before he even took off.

The Senator from Florida shared his travel woes via a series of nine posts to Twitter.
“Every American flight I have been on this week has been at least two hours late or cancelled. This one already one hour delayed,” he posted Friday evening.
Shortly after, he posted, “American Air says maintenance problem.Yet suddenly group of new passengers boarding.Holding plane to get connectors on from delayed flight?”
In another post, he added, “Delaying flight for ‘maintenance’ to squeeze connectors from other flight, oldest trick in book. Feel bad for crew.#cmonman#AmericanAirlines.”
The pilots and flight attendants, he said in a separate post, are “top notch.”
But his skepticism towards the airline continued to be evident as he relayed: “Oh guess what? They fixed the plane! Just as the last of the connecting passengers finished boarding. #magic.”
His frustration earned him a sympathetic response from the airline.
“Thanks for your patience, Marco. We hope you have a great flight,” read a post to the official Twitter feed of American Airlines.
The pilots, Rubio said on the social media site, are “two military veterans, lovers of liberty and believers in Constitution.”
His stream of posts ended with what was likely a familiar directive from the cockpit.
“I must now turn [off] my electronic device,” he posted. “I hope tonight's tirade didn't cost me my Executive Platinum status.”
Rubio is no stranger to flight issues. In July, he eventually called into a campaign rally after his plane made what he described as an “emergency landing” when passengers aboard the plane believed they saw smoke.
And that, he said, was his second plane malfunction of the day.
Earlier Friday, a charter plane carrying Ann Romney, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s wife, was forced to make an emergency landing when what the pilot described as an electrical issue led to smoke in the cabin.
After everyone emerged from that flight safely, one of Romney’s sons himself took to Twitter to point out a light hearted moment between his mother and a Secret Service agent.
Matt Romney tweeted: “Who says USSS doesn't have sense of humor? Upon landing tonight, agent leaned over to my mom and said: ‘so this was the non-smoking flight.’ ”

Another labor union screwing the people. No one should fly American Airlines now. Let them go completely bankrupt and let the employees who shut down the airlines face the music they wrote. The union is making the American people suffer and the AA employees will suffer the most. Suicide or insanity – the union is killing itself.
What a courageous man Rubio is sitting in first class drinking and tweeting for two grueling hours. Is there a Presidential medal for this type of heroism?
AA pilots are slowing things down because of their contract fight with the airline. Rubio needs to read up on current event.
I really cry hard when superior beings suffer the inconvienences of lesser people. Ask Mitt for your own private plane!
Who cares one iota about Marco Rubio...
The Repbublican party platform will only make things worse by dumping the cost of the TSA on struggling airlines and eliminating all Amtrak passenger trains nationwide. Rubio should quit whining and that the train.
With the state of the country and world as it is today i find it hard to believe that this is a story, then again this is American media presently, inept.

Your right , Let them go completely bankrupt and let the employees who shut down the airlines face the music !
They can out source cheeper employes from India and Nigeria , how much responsibility or training dose it really take to drive a bus with wings on it ? We out source most of the maintenance already to Singapore or China .
And there's to much regulation , if your aircraft crashes do to faulty service , thats the risk you take in a free market , no more free rides !
Your absolutely RIGHT ," Suicide or insanity " !
He landed in Lakeland, FL on a Romney.com flight on Friday. How did he get switched to AA?
Did Romney need his bird for other matters "more pressing"?
I don't care what part of the plane you're on... Executive or coach (like the 99%) a delay is a delay for all. Stop whining you arrogant little dweeb.
Poor baby. The Boy Wonder was mildly inconvenienced along with dozen of other ordinary Americans. It must have been grueling for him. Petty twit...
Actually it was only about 30 minutes. He just wanted to convince mitt that he deserved his own personal bird if he wanted him to keep stumping for him and meeting his grueling schedule.
unregulated capitalism (airlines) can do what they want !
You people are all going to get cancer being so negative. Why do you even live on Earth? Find Jack.
Marco Rubio can blame his own in Miami. Miami International Airport, run by Republicans, gave MIA to American and subsidized their expansion. Now they face American's bankruptcy and dishonorable service.
Unfortunately no one talks about AA management unethical behavior, how they cut back salaries and pensions back in 2003 while receiving millions in bonuses and luxury apartments in Europe, and how they are doing basically the same in 2012. Imagine that after 25 or 30 years working for a company you just wake up one day and they say: Hey remember that pension fund you have been putting aside for your retirement, well its gone!!! But don’t worry you still keep the job, actually you are going to work a lot more from now on. Those eighty hours of flight and three hundred that you spend away from home every month, we are going to make those days a nice memory of the past. Maybe Sen. Rubio should pay more attention to what has been going on with this industry for decades, beyond the delays and the lack of service. I’m sorry I disremembered the fact that congress in these days is more about attacking everyone who’s not in your side of the aisle, just like AA. Management vs labor, republicans vs democrats, at the end it’s everyone vs the people of the US.
American Airlines might have been 2 hours late, but at least they finally did their job... unlike congress.
Appears to me like the Tea party Senator had his "Diva" pants on.....
Matt Romney tweeted: “Who says USSS doesn't have sense of humor? Upon landing tonight, agent leaned over to my mom and said: ‘so this was the non-smoking flight.’ ”
I see he has his dads sense of humor.
Aaaccckk.
Well, really, American Airlines, who do you think you are?
Didn't you know you had a Republican "rising star" on board, and one with Executive Platinum Status, no less?
Besides, all of those people who needed to make their connecting flights were flying free weren't they?
And, of course, their needs must certainly be secondary to the needs of a whiney little brat whose ego must be
considered first. You can bet your bippee they would have held the plane for Mr. Wonderful and he wouldn't
care who was inconvenienced.
Give me a break!
How funny, each lib bot attacking Rubio here would be calling American Airlines racist if Obama had the same problems with them. Today's Democrats are even more evil and hateful than their Democrat cross burning forefathers.
American airlines are a nightmare..
Delta is the worst.
I would walk before i will ever get on a delta flight again.
poster baby, poster boy, poster little man................pathetic individual
Whining little crybaby. Should've borrowed a jet from his friends the Koch's.
Romney did nothing to Newt. Newt did it to himself.
Welcome to the life of the 47 % !!!
