Ann Romney touts her husband's softer side

Henderson, Nevada (CNN) - In her latest stop in a key battleground state, Ann Romney on Monday continued pushing hard for her husband's candidacy – by, once again, highlighting his softer side.

The wife of the Republican presidential candidate spoke to an audience of less than a thousand people at the Henderson Convention Center, about eight miles away from the hotel where President Obama is staying while he prepares for Wednesday night's first presidential debate.

"I'll tell you what kind of man Mitt is: He doesn't talk. He does," she said before repeating the story of how her husband befriended a dying 14-year-old thirty years ago.

David Oparowski's parents told their son's story at the Republican National Convention in August, including how Mitt Romney helped the teenager by writing his will and later delivered the eulogy at his funeral.

Another longtime friend of the former Massachusetts governor, who also spoke at the convention in Tampa, introduced Ann Romney with another story of her husband helping their family when their daughter was born prematurely in the 1980s. Pam Finlayson told the crowd in Henderson, Nevada, how - even in the midst of planning his presidential campaign - the Romneys reached out to personally express their sympathy.

"Where we are when someone is in trouble, we're at the bedside. And that's exactly where you want to find Mitt any time there is trouble, at the bedside," Ann Romney said. "I've seen it time and time again. He is prepared. He is compassionate. And he is competent. And that's what you need to know before you go to vote."

Romney campaign advisers believe the potential first lady is one of their best assets in humanizing her husband as a candidate.

"The value that Mrs. Romney brings as part of people learning about him is she's very passionate about him - his character, his ideas, why he's running," Kevin Madden, a senior Romney campaign adviser, told reporters. "She can offer her own personal testimonial about why the governor is running and why people ought to vote for him. And she's very persuasive in that sense."

The campaign hopes to capitalize on her personal message especially to bridge her husband's deficit, to President Barack Obama, when it comes to support from female voters. In a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist College poll in the state of Nevada, for instance, Obama leads Mitt Romney among likely women voters by 16 percentage points.

"We have a huge responsibility," Ann Romney said in Henderson, as she tried to help close the gap. "Mitt is up to the task. He's prepared. He knows how to do it. He's done turnarounds. This country is ready for a turnaround. This country is ready for Mitt Romney."

Oh, wow... a pink Barbie. Now that's the modern woman of 2012. As Aiken would say, very "lady-like".

Oh well, honey, you are hard enough, never mind to soften Romney.

Between you two, we see how the priviledge class hammer the 47% and 99%.

Either way, Romney will never make it to the white house.

You will not make first lady either.

Ann, I am sure you love Mitt, but please stop trying to convince us 47 per centers that this man cares at all for us. The two of you seem to fairly sneer when you are campaigning. If Mitt wins, the middle class can count on its final demise as the 1% will finally and be in charge for all time. Frankly, I don't think ordinary Americans will survive 4 years of Mittens.

Ann also said Mitt is emotionally unstable. A Romney presidency would start WW3, not because Romney would attack Iran, N. Korea, or perhaps China, but because the world would use an emotionally unstable and weak Romney presidency to attack us. If you're ready for the world to end, vote for Romney.

Ann may know the "ssofter" side of Romney, but she also has stated her concern for his mental health. Should American's be concerned for his mental health as well? how is he going to be up to the pressures of the presidential office? We've all seen how being president ages people quickly.

I hope she told the attendees that if they hit bad traffic or lost money gambling, that was definitely Obama's fault.

I really do not want Mitt at my bedside when I am sick and dying. I want compassionate doctors and nurses and technicians. I also want health insurance so that if I get well and don't need Mitt to write my will, then I won't be facing bankrupcy due to lack of coverage. Obama cares for me in both sickness and in health. Thank you Mr. President and all of the Democrats who voted YES to OBAMACARE.

Could somebody please tell his campaign (then again, maybe not) that his non working wife doesn't connect with the 47% and probably 80% of the population of the country.
Must be nice to be a millionaire to be able to help others. I am sure some of them do so every day.
This election isn't about money. This election is about character and morals. Two things the twit seems to have discarded months ago.
Now they have the wifey flip flopping on what she said just a few days ago. Your husband is not up to the task and I couldn't stand your sense of style for one more minute nor your MS pity party never mind having to look at your ugly face for four long years!

We're having economic growth, if slow, and Mitt wants to turn that around? No thanks. I'm not into trickle down economics.
