New CNN debate digital experience allows viewers to play TV producer
(CNN) - On Wednesday night, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama will be going head-to-head, trading policy points and political “zingers” while trying to convince the American public to choose them as the next president.
But if you missed that stunning one-liner or didn’t fully understand the detailed explanation of stimulus, deficit reduction and supply-side economics, there is a new CNN tool to allow you to view, replay and share your favorite clips on-the-fly.
This year, viewers at home and on mobile will have a chance to play TV producer, capturing, editing and sharing clips of their top debate moments live, while the debate is going on, via the new CNN Debate experience on the web and on the iPad tablet at CNN.com/debates.

Beginning with this week’s first Presidential Debate in Denver and available for all four debates this month, CNN will offer viewers the full televised debate online — including the pre-game and post-game/spin room activity — streaming five hours of coverage each night via a full HD player. Viewers can fast-forward, rewind and pause the debate from anywhere they have an internet connection, using on-screen controls similar to your home DVR.
Then, viewers will be able to edit the debate feed as it happens and share short video clips directly from their browser to their friends via Facebook and Twitter. In addition to CNN’s live TV programming, CNN.com’s readers will also have access to the full closed caption text with the live, real-time debate feed.

You know, at some point, all the creative user interactions and graphics you guys create just becomes a distraction from the actual news you're trying to communicate. Am I listening to the news and the message? Or am I too busy watching Wolf Blitzer sling a holographic window across the newsroom floor to another anchor like a game of shuffle board? Ok, yes CNN is extremely biased toward Obama. That said, they have by far the best election coverage. (I'm not including the holographs in that argument. That was pretty silly.) Congratulations CNN for continuing to make the news fun, interactive and interesting. Now stop trying to win the election for Obama.

What will they think of next? We can have all sorts of remarks taken out of context now. Perhaps we all need to vote before these debates even begin. It is a test to see which man has spent the most time formulating their answers to improve their standing.
