(CNN) - The home appliance brand KitchenAid apologized Wednesday evening for a political tweet sent out from its official account during the presidential debate.
The tweet has been removed but at least a dozen retweets of the post showed it read, "Obamas gma even knew it was going 2 b bad! 'She died 3 days b4 he became president.'"

The company apologized in a later post from the same account.
"Deepest apologies for an irresponsible tweet that is in no way a representation of the brand's opinion," the tweet read in part.
The original post would have been in reference to a comment President Barack Obama made during the debate as he spoke about the importance of programs such as Medicare and Social Security.
"You know, my grandmother - some of you know - helped to raise me," Obama said. My grandfather died a while back. My grandmother died three days before I was elected president. And she was fiercely independent. She worked her way up, only had a high school education, started as a secretary, ended up being the vice president of a local bank. And she ended up living alone by choice."
"And the reason she could be independent was because of Social Security and Medicare," he continued.
Cynthia Soledad, KitchenAid's senior director of marketing, said in a statement to CNN: "During the debate tonight, a member of our Twitter team mistakenly posted an offensive tweet from the KitchenAid handle instead of a personal handle. The tasteless joke in no way represents our values at KitchenAid, and that person won't be tweeting for us anymore."
"I am deeply sorry to President Obama, his family, and the Twitter community for this careless error," Soledad said.

I won't have any GE products in me house because of 0bamo'a adviser Jeffy Immelt – I will definitely be buying KitchenAid in the future!
Won't be purchasing anything made by KitchenAid. You are absolutely responsible for what you employ.
Because of the offensive tweet, we should cancel the election and have Chief Justice Roberts swear Obama in for a new term right now.
This was obviously just a mistake from someone who shouldn't have had access to their twitter account. Not a reason to hate or boycott the brand, isn't that a bit drastic? They should (and i'm sure they now will) keep a closer eye on who's tweeting and representing the company
KitchenAid makes good products. Who is directly responsible for the tweet is yet unknown to the public, but ultimately KA is accountable for their employees and contractors. It's a reprehensible tweet on many levels and I do not feel bad holding KA accountable by not buying any more of their products.
Hilarious. Keep them coming KitchenAid
BOYCOTT KITCHENAID
Selling our kitchen aid tomorrow on EBay and giving proceeds to Obama campaign. This shows the true colors of republicans. They have never cared for the American people.
Kitchen Aid had better come up with a better explanation. If a rogue employee is responsible, they should not be providing cover for them. It's really off-putting to have businesses wading into political debates.
If it was a comment like this towards romney it wouldn't have made the news and no one would care. Get over it liberals, you all get hurt and insulted way too easily
This is awesome. i'm buying a kitchenaid product first thing tomorrow.
Selling our kitchen aide and giving proceeds to Obama campaign.
Selling our KA and giving money to Obama camp.
Those were the stupidest comments anyone could ever say about our president. and I'm a Republican
Wow. Unbelievable and disgraceful!!! I guess I won't buy those kitchen appliances tomorrow. Thanks for narrowing my selection.
No more KA for us.
The main question we should be asking is, 'who the hell is following KitchenAid on Twitter in the first place?'
I doubt anyone will remember this in a few weeks
Barely news worthy
Hahaha
For those of you that say typical Republican, Republicans are just as appalled by that comment is anyone.
Some people just take things too far.
Im going to buy all new kitchen aid appliances. Funny stuff. I am a new customer.
Got the memo. No more KitchenAid for me and my family for generations.
Wow. That comment is almost as rediculous as many of those I see here on the board.
Are all of you idiots above for real? It was funny....get over it...he lost the debate stop crying....go ahead boycott kitchen aid morons you should not be spending your welfare on new appliances anyway
