Osama bin Laden movie to air weekend before election

(CNN) - Two days before Election Day on November 6, a movie detailing the raid that killed Osama bin Laden will air on the National Geographic Channel, the cable network announced Thursday.

The film is being distributed by the Weinstein Company, owned by a Harvey Weinstein, a major backer of President Barack Obama's re-election campaign.

Titled, "SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden," the feature-length film will chronicle the raid in Pakistan, an event that Obama's campaign touts as one of his crowning achievements.

The timing of the film will likely draw some critics, as some may speculate the TV movie could portray the president in a positive light and have an impact on voters just days before they head to the polls.

It's expected to take a similar tone as another movie about bin Laden's death, "Zero Dark Thirty," which is set to hit theaters December 19. The project stirred controversy last year when it was reported that the film was slated for an October release, right ahead of the election. However, actors and producers with the film maintain it always had a December release date.

The director of "Zero Dark Thirty," Kathryn Bigelow, and the producer of the National Geographic Channel film to air in November have previously worked together on a separate film, "The Hurt Locker."

- CNN's Rachel Wells contributed to this report.

Now that's rich! A movie caused all the problems in Syria, maybe one can solve all the problems in this election.

Wow, what a surprise! Weinstein is really trying to get value from his investment. But that's ok, you can't underestimate the intelligence of voters who no longer have the euphoria of 4 years ago!

More Obama exploitation and victory laps for killing Bin Laden ... resulting in the Libya attack, and our Ambassador plus our Navy Seals being murdered. TO ALL YOU OBAMA STOOGES ... Your blind devotion to 'Dear Leader' ... your Fuhrer, is touching ... but it's time for you to leave the Obama cult. Defending Obama, who lost, and who can't loose like a good sport, just makes you ALL look like sore loosers. Obama was given a chance ... and, in the past 4 years, he has nearly destroyed America. NOW, it's time for Barack and Michelle to abdicate their throne, so Mitt Romney can begin repairing the excessive damage caused by Obama's terrible policies. Good bye Barack, Michelle, Nancy, Harry, Jarret, and Axelrod, and all the unelected czars ... and, GOOD RIDDANCE TO YOU ALL ... I'm sure you all will find another way to pick the pockets of hard working Americans !!!

So Obama finished what Clinton and Bush worked on and Obama and his administration think that killing Bin Laden made our economy better, the world safer, stopped our people from being murdered????? Is this why our Ambassador was not well protected and the 3 seals had no way of defending against so many on the attack to our consulate because the Obama administration thought everything was good now that Bin Laden is dead????? This movie will only confirm that Obama's administration believed that killing Bin Laden was all the American people needed to feel safe but the Ambassador's death proved otherwise.

If the so called president had a twelve inch penis I have no doubt he would display it on national TV if he thought it would help him get re-elected.

So if this causes riots in the Middle East, the sacking of US embassies, and the murder of US ambassadors the Obama administration will denounce the movie, apologize profusely with a bowed head and haul Weinstein to jail, right? Got it.

Osama Bin Laden is dead, and GM is alive! This should put President Obama in a good light. He order the raid and frankly stayed true what he said he would during the Democractic Primaries. He should leadership and resolve that no one can reasonably deny, although some on the extreme right have tried. The fact is that his opponents have been trying to twist President Obama's accomplishments and highlight the failings of The House as his. Twisting facts and spin won't win in the end. Tangible results will. Is the nation safer than four years ago? YES!

Shouldn't Pres. Obama request that the movie not be aired so as not to inflame the Arabs over the death of Bin Laden?

Maybe the US gov't was behind the Muslim youtube video, just to test the reactions – knowing full well what this will do, almost as either a way to keep Obama in office – OR – as a parting 'inheritance' to Romney.. who knows anymore..

Wait a second... So one of the ST6 members who was actually on the op writes a book and the administration wants to hammer him, but it's okay for the pantywaist in the oval office to okay the release of a film the weekend before the election in an attempt to save a campaign that's going down faster than Monica Lewinsky? Yeah, whatevs. Move along, folks, nothing to see here.

The raid was a fake and the movie will be a fake. Osama Bin Laden died in 2001 - three Pakistani Prime Ministers have acknowledged that fact and the "Osama" in the video bears little resemblance to the real Osama.

    This is most amusing.

Can't wait for the inevitable riots across the Middle East and North Africa attacking what's left of the U.S. Embassys and/or fast food chains in said regions.

I'm sure the MSM and/or the Anoited One's Administration will find a way to blame Romney, Bush, or some "filmmaker" no one has ever heard of!

I cannot believe this film is being released period and certainly not two days before the election! What are people thinking after all the demonstrations resulting from a "little known" film from an unknown filmmaker? Do people really think a reminder that Osama bin Laden was killed by the U.S. will not ignite strong reaction in countries that see him as a leader? Not to mention that it is blatantly political! I would have thought the Natioal Geographic Channel would have more respect for the election process and at least waited until after the election let alone taking he chance of causing further escalation of violence in some countries.

It's been rumored that President Obama had several opportunities to 'go after' Bin Laden. Biden was supposedly against it. Valerie Jarrett seemed to have a very significant role in the ultimate decision. Will the movie provide any of the 'behind the scenes' decision making? Will the decision making scenes be in the White House or a golf course?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

I will be looking forward to learning the extent of Valerie Jarrett's input and influence in the Obama administration. Considering that Ms. Jarrett had greater security than our deceased Libyan Ambassador Stevens, I think this movie will be very enlightening.

Glad to see the Dems reminding all of us about the man that the President promised to bring down during the 2008 debates and he did so.
So unlike the shrub who wasn't losing sleep over him nor the twit who wouldn't waste money and time bringing the monster who killed over 3,000 innocent civilians on US soil. I guess that takes cojones and bullies don't have any.
Can you see the bully bishop cracking jokes at a correespondent dinner then going back to the WH to watch this criminal die? Nope, not even in a fiction novel.
