Jack Welch: Unemployment rate cooked

New York (CNNMoney) - The big drop in the unemployment rate a month before the presidential election brought cries of disbelief and conspiracy theories from Jack Welch and other critics of the Obama administration Friday. But the Labor Department was quick to dismiss such claims.

"Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can't debate so change numbers," tweeted Welch, the former CEO of General Electric.

Welch was one of the old guys laughing and clapping when Romney said he didn't care about the 47% so of course he's going to dispute the numbers because he hasn't apologized for laughing and clapping about Romney's comments.

It is really sad to see so many people upset that the USA is recovering. You can't wrap yourself in the American flag and call yourself a patriot if you secretly wished this morning that the jobs numbers would have been horrible.

This comes from a CEO who beat expectations in 38 of 40 quarters then left behind a company so weak - thanks to predatory consumer lending that predictably fell apart - they required a government bailout to make payroll. I didn't hear him angry about GE's bailout though; government intervention was just fine for Jack's GE, just not for anybody else.

It's a bloody miracle I tell you!!! The biggest drop JUST before election day and with only 114,000 new jobs created! Wait a minute....

And next month the Obama administration will tell you it dropped AGAIN to 5.9%!!! It will just take a slight adjustement of a few numbers and all this pesky unemployment bad news for Obama will be gone. I mean we can't have people thinking the middle class is getting crushed by the Obama administration can we?

Wake up America. You are being lied to and manipulated in ways you cannot begin to comprehend. The publishing of this fantasy drop in unemployment one month before a Presidential election is proof of it.

What an ignorant thing to say! I am soooooo very tired of the "Chicago-guys" which critics keep leveling at the President's administration. As if corporate guys are on the up-and-up and so squeaky clean. All they care about are their tax breaks and screwing over the working class. Hey, Jack, how about you fly back to one of your mansions on our private jet.

The drop was due to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' survey of households showing that 873,000 more people had jobs than in the previous month.
OK, so I am to believe that the BSL CALLED almost ONE MILLION households last month and then called the same almost ONE MILLION households this month and the rate dropped that much?

Or are they claiming that three times as many people stopped looking for work than in the month before? Another completely made up number.

SERIOUSLY????? Let me tell you the BLS just shot their credibility right to hell. Nobody in their right mind would believe these numbers. It is clear the BLS is cooking the numbers to give Obama talking points and get him re-elected . This country is sooo screwed when this stuff starts going on.

I would like to believe the unemployment numbers, but as someone who has been looking for work for "too long" and have been dropped from the statistics, all of the jobs I applied for at the Federal government over the last year and a half were cancelled last week... after doing some digging for the truth online it appears OPM (office of personel managment) has restructured a huge amount of permanent career positions and replaced them with temp/part time work! So there you have it folks...(this also puts the government in a position to slash employees after the election when we hit the fiscal cliff)

Just before the debate the unemployment numbers were going up and suddenly right after the debate the unemployment numbers drop to 7.8%???? How ridiculous that anyone would believe this nonsense of mathematics. Who knows what numbers they didn't put in to get a correct outcome. They needed to lift Obama from that horrible debate performance he delivered and win votes for the coming election. How can unemployment drop to 7.8% when unemployment numbers were going up just a few days ago???????

"So the Republicans have accepted the job figures all these previous months and used them to point blame at our President but now that they are good news for the economy, they don't trust the numbers? These are the same Republicans who spent the last several weeks moaning and whining about the media and poll numbers being useless but then, after the debate, praised polls and the media for reporting Romney as the debate winner. What a bunch of America-hating hypocrites."

Are they seriously expecting us to believe the Labor Statistics department took a survey and these numbers are based on a survey, over the phone, they phoned that many people?????????????? This is so ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The drop was due to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' survey of households showing that 873,000 more people had jobs than in the previous month. That was the biggest one-month gain in more than nine years.

I find it beyond laughable....what only Republican can lie and claim it's the truth. Even if the numbers are manipulated. What the heck are they crying about after all the lies and manipulation of facts that Republicans are infamous for. What a bunch whining elitists. No wonder that party is on life support and fading fast.

I would like to believe the unemployment numbers

These numbers are based on a survey taken by the Bureau of Labor Statistics per the article

Jack welch and his other rich white men cabal are prepared to do anything in their powers to destroy the economy while they hold on to billions of dollars so that the president would not get elected. We knew this would happen from the time the president was sworn in and shame on them, These are an evil group of people who would rather destroy the great and could be greater United States of America for their own evil plans. You have to have power to be racist and to hire who you want to hire and you also have to have power to disrupt the economy for your own wicked and racist advantage.

    Crying me a river pops!

Yeah, same way like Bush put Bin Laden on TV with message the day before the 2004 Elections to sway voters mind that only him and Cheney can protect Americans and Kerry couldn't!

How about the unemployment number was nearly at 11% in 1983 under Reagan and drastically went down to 7.5% prior to the election!

Yeah those weren't fix also Welch.

Nice try with your spinning Welch! I guess you would be happy to see American Unemployed in order for the rethugs to regain the WH. Mitts, best debate by a Republican since maybe Reagan in 1980 and any momentum he had has been snuffed out with this job report. This is a clear indication that America is on the right path!

Smoke on that Rethugs and choke!

  23. hah!

I don't get it. This report says 843,000 more Americans have jobs, but other report says that 114,00 jobs were created in September. Which is it?

  24. Logic N LA

Damn those guys form Chicago! LOL
It OK for Romney to blatantly lie about his 5 trillion dollar tax cut ( 60 Minutes interview and several stump speeched) which comes from his 20% accross the board cut without out giving any of the supposed loopholes he would close. It's OK for him to lie about his liking the healthcare plan in Mass.after a ears of saying he's sorry he signed the bill. It OK for Romeny to say obama is cutting 716 Billion dollars from Medicare benefits when he know that is the proposed savings in cost overruns. And for all you conservatives out there- This is the guy that runsNBC and MSNBC- a Republican

I wish people would think. If the umemployment numbers are cooked because of what they do or dont take into account. Then thay means theyve been that way. Which also means that the percentage difference in Obamas term would still be the same. Also we have gained back the number of jobs that we lost in the recession in really 3 years. If yo ad another 4 years of that, were
Does that leave unemployment And the economy?
