Pastors prepare to take on IRS over political endorsement ban

(CNN) - When Ron Johnson takes take his pulpit on Sunday, he will willfully break the law. After presenting his views on President Barack Obama’s handling of religious issues - like abortion, gay marriage, and religious freedom – Johnson will ask his congregation a question.

“In light of what I have presented,” Johnson says he will say, “How can you go into that election booth and vote for Barack Obama as president of the United States?”

Sorry Rev. Johnson, but this is America, not Iran! It's a democracy, not a theocracy. It's for freedom for ALL, not freedom for a few.

In the early 1900's pastors and other "men of God" taught their followers that it was a sin against God for women to have the vote. I can remember the same sort of rhetoric in the 1960's when "men of God" taught that it was against God's law for white children and black children to be schooled together and screamed from pulpits that the was an ABOMINATION BEFORE GOD" for a white women to marry a black man. Now they have picked others, like gays and, in many cases, Muslims as their targets of hate. The members of a church are called "sheep" for a reason, "men of GOD" will always herd them to do their bidding and follow their personal agenda. Unfortunately the extreme right wing has learned that they can herd the herders and now preachers are just a tool for them to use. THAT'S WHY THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PREACH POLITICS! White Horse Prophesy

What part of "separation of church and state" do you Bible-thumpers have trouble with? It's not really that complex...

I hope his tax exempt status is taken away. Quite ironic he supports Willard a mormon cult follower. Mormons are not even Christian. No Christian denomination recognizes the book of mormon. I wonder what he thinks of mormon believing that Jesus Christ was a polygamist and that he preached to the American Indians, which history tells us did not happen and there is no DNA proof that the American-Indians are the 13 tribe of Israel. Mormons who honor and worship Joseph Smith who had 87 wives, one as young as 14 years old, and Brigham Young who had 70 wives and massacred non-mormons in Utah.

The communist governments thought they could take on the churches and freedom of speech too. And who is now extinct and who still remains. Any government that starts to interfere with the practice of religion risks demolishing the support for that government. This will be the fastest way to push this country TOWARDS a theocracy. If all of the religious people in this country unite, you non-believers do not stand a chance. Cuba will be where you need to live.

These Pastors are not Patriots. These Pastors are Pharisee's. Judas Iscariot also thought of Jesus as the political King...all for 30 pieces of silver. I pray for these pastors deceived souls.

If the government wishes to try and use the tax code to bludgeon the churches and all their belivers into submission and thresaten their right ot free speech, then it will leave the churches with no alternative but to organize and REPEAL the Amendment that granted the government the ability to confiscate our hard earned money. Yes, repeal their taxing authority. This government was granted that right BY THE PEOPLE and the PEOPLE can repeal it. There should be enough religious people to get that done. SO by all means federal government, push this fight. WE DARE YOU.

If pastors want to endorce the biggest bold-faced liar in political history- by all means, surrender your tax-exempt status (if you can square this with whatever your semblance of Christianity and morality might be).

My goodness the church I attend will be praying for those with cancer on Sunday. I am wearing pink in honor of breast cancer. We are praying for those that are breast cancer survivors such as my sister and Mrs. Romney without mentioning names. We don't allow politics or politicans to intrude on our worship service. Churches of any religion should lose their tax exempt status if they become involved in politics. This is not Iran where Church leaders run the country.

For what he has said already, this church should have their tax-exempt status taken away (like IMMEDIATELY). I hope someone from the IRS plans to attend this service and hear what this man says from the pulpit. I guess rules are fine for everyone else, huh? Shame shame shame on him.
