Debate leads to strong Romney fund-raising

(CNN) - Mitt Romney's showing at Wednesday night's debate paid off, according to a Saturday tweet from his campaign spokeswoman.

In the 48 hours post-debate, Romney's campaign raised "more than $12 million," press secretary Andrea Saul tweeted.

Two-thirds of those who watched the debate between the GOP presidential nominee and President Barack Obama said Romney won the debate, a CNN/ORC International poll conducted on the night of the event found. One in four said the night went to Obama.

The debate also led to an increase in supporters volunteering with the campaign, Saul wrote. The night of the debate, there were "more than 2 donations/second."

A major super PAC supporting Romney's candidacy had a strong night, too, the group's founder said on Thursday.

"I think that today will probably be the best fund-raising day we've had, if not one of the top two fund-raising days we've ever had," Charlie Spies of Restore our Future said on CNN's Erin Burnett "OutFront."

Obama's campaign has not said how much it raised post-debate, but it did announce Saturday that it set a fund-raising record in September, bringing in $181 million.

- CNN's Gregory Wallace, Marlena Baldacci, and Ashley Killough contributed to this report.

They clapped and laughed at Romney's 47% comment and they filled his campaign coffers. Later Romney came back and said "I was wrong, not articulate, and that's not what I meant" but he kept the money from the hecklers and if Romney was sincere he would have returned the money, but he meant what he said. Proof of a mans words of honesty and sincerity is in his actions, his actions were to keep the money.

The brilliance of Mitt Romney, his plan and his capability to accomplish what needs to be done in Washington came across loud and clear. Obama's personal attacks fell to pieces and as we saw too, that's all he has. Romney/ Ryan 2012.

$12M, what a wash, not even enough for Romney to entertain his donar. Where is his casino money from China?

The fact that people would buy into the lies that Romney spewed in the debate is beyond belief. We may wonder why nations collapse, well in this case just look at Romney and realize he does not have the best interests of the majority of Americans in his thoughts and plans for America. It's all about the rich and powerful. That can't be denied.

What else would you expect in a symbiotic relationship whose underlying premise revolves around MONEY? It’s just the pay off before the pay back. It’s the circle of political life, just one half of the perpetual financial feed back loop.

Romney adopted a whole new perspective on his policies after just a few moments on stage with Obama.
For finance regulation now – check,
For pre-existing ins. coverage – check
Not lowering taxes on wealthiest – check
Only "tweak" SS and Medicare- not overhaul – check
    ....and on and on

Whats the point of words if they have no meaning? Whats the point of a debate if you don't maintain and defend your issues? Is the point of debate to bring your opponent closer to your position?

OBAMA WON the debate without effort. Romney is now a small "d" blue dog.

The rules for civic debate require that no false or misleading statements should be used to defend your position. To use false statements is considered "cheating". The fact checkers are having a field day with Romney's lies and contradiction in the debate. Romney descended into the gutter inferring the president was a childish liar. The president was measured and presidential. Not once did demean Romney or use false information. But the pundits ( outraged they did not hear the president mimic their words) and the public saw Romney the winner. Only in America can a liar and a cheat, be called a winner in a presidential debate.

The financial side of his campaign continues to grow. The independent PACS are also growing. Those who do not have to declare their contributions are giving money to these PACS. You and i may be told that a contributor to the PAC supports more liberal or moderate proposals to enhance their stature. All the while they are contributing to these PACS and no one will ever know the difference.

    Let us pray,

Dear God, please cause Romney's defeat in November. Help voters to see what a fool and liar Willard is. Help him to contract a horrible disease and die this week.

    In Jesus name, Amen.

I understand your fear of the elegant plan Mitt Romney presented. It works. So in spite of what we have seen in the last 3 1/2 years, there is a way to get the recovery going. Mitt Romney told us what that is and he will deliver it.

I see you're still living in that alternative reality. Romney's "plan" was simply a collection of lies and distortions. He gave nothing specific about any vision and his only strength was seen in his tenacity as a pathological liar. Even you know that's true but as usual, it's all about the game rather than what's good for all of the people of America.

The Republicans decided to defeat Presidnet Obama the day he won the elction in 2008. From that time to this they have voted against him and chose Mitt Romney who tried to please the Far Right. Well in the first debate which he won Romney fast talked his loose facts and bullied thye President and the narrator. He had a good time telling Jim Lehrer how he was going to get rid of PBS. Remember that Mitt likes to fire people and in this case he wants to get rid of PBS with its host of chuildren's programming. Mitt is dangerous as is the Republican Party. It's a party of white, conservative bigots who know damn well they hate the Preident because he's black. That was it from day one. Ryan, Cantor and the rest of them are in it for themselv es. Do you think Romney has to worry about health insurance? Never. And that wife os his has a look on her face that just spells bitch. And if you think she and Mitt paced up and down with their kids at night you're nuts. Privilege from the very beginnig.

President Obama is one who really won the debate, What I see is a very ANGRY Romney with his lies just to please his father, he don't care dam about you or I he only want to win because he have to proof to his father that he have to be President, who cares about your strong fundraising that your rich friends who just like you who cheat the American people by not paying your TAXES, having OVERSEAS ACCOUNTS, & Bain Captical, We the 47% VICTIMS are moving forward with President Obama.

If everyone believes Romney's lies, distortions & flip-flops he may have a chance otherwise I don't think he'll beat Obama. If he does then we're in real trouble as it will be Bush all over again and we'll head toward another depression. Unless you're a dyed-in-the-wool Republican or racist you must vote for Obama. Just think what would happen to the Supreme Court not to mention PBS funding, women's rights, healthcare and so on.

Social security doesn't "lose records". If you think Ryan (who went thru college on his dead father's soc. sec.) or Romney are going to GIVE you something, you're nuts. They are planning to take away what little we have left.

Romney is in it for his investors (his friends with big bucks and himself so he can get by with paying 0% taxes on his income from stock dividends which is approximately $20 Million/Year).

I voted for Obama/Biden 2012 last Tuesday – and I'm on social security after having worked almost 50 years.

Bain (Romney outsourced my high-paying technical job in 1995 and took most of my pension for HIS pocket). I'll NEVER FORGET THAT. I got another job but had to move 3000 miles and it didn't pay but about 3/4 of what I made before.

Obama looked to me like he was on some stuff - or didn't get his cigarette break before the debate. Other than that, he was exactly what we know he is - an empty chair!
