CNN exclusive: Paul Ryan hasn't called Palin for advice

(CNN) - Paul Ryan's debate preparations have involved a core team of aides, improvised sessions on his plane, and mock debates in hotels all around the country.

But one thing Ryan did not do to prepare – seek advice from the only other Republican who has faced off against Joe Biden in a vice presidential debate: Sarah Palin.

"You know I haven't," Ryan answered when asked in an exclusive interview if he had reached out to the former Alaska governor. "I don't really know her. I only met her once and that was about two years ago."

Asked if he would ask Palin's advice given the chance, Ryan said he would.

"Sure, sure, sure," he said.

As for Palin's now-famous inquiry on whether she could call Biden "Joe" ahead of their 2008 match-up, Ryan said he and his opponent were already on first name terms.

"I know him as Joe and he calls me Paul," the Wisconsin congressman said.

So will he call the vice president "Joe" during Thursday's debate?

"You know I haven't given it that much thought to be honest with you," Ryan said. "Probably not, unless he wants to make it casual. But we know each other. Actually, we've gotten along quite well over the years. I like Joe personally quite a bit I just disagree with his policies."

Those disagreements are certain to emerge at Thursday's debate in Danville, Kentucky. A source familiar with Ryan's debate preparations tells CNN that since the first presidential debate, they have intensified focus on lines President Barack Obama ignored during his first debate with GOP nominee Mitt Romney, including hitting Romney for his remarks on the 47%, and for his role at Bain Capital, the private equity firm he co-founded.

Since those sore spots for team Romney didn't come up at all during the first presidential debate – a point of dismay among many Democrats – Ryan sources believe Biden will attempt to make up for it on during their debate.

Paul doesn't need Silly Sarah's advice. He'll show us all how we've pinned the name "Lyin' Ryan" to him. Now if Lyin' Ryan wanted advice on how to divide people and spread hate, then he should call up Palin.

The GOP as pretty well started to banish their TEA Party idiots, and they haven't even mentioned former President Bush. That isn't to say however the IQ in the GOP is rising with fools like Akin around.

Paul Ryan and Joe Biden are used to each other so why would Ryan ask Palin for advise when she only debated Biden back when she ran for VP???? this is dumb.

Obama was given a chance ... and, in the past 4 years, he has nearly destroyed America. NOW, it's time for Barack and Michelle to abdicate their throne, so Mitt Romney can begin repairing the excessive damage caused by Obama's terrible policies. Good bye Barack, Michelle, Nancy, Harry, Jarret, and Axelrod, and all the unelected czars ... and, GOOD RIDDANCE TO YOU ALL ... I'm sure you all will find another way to pick the pockets of hard working Americans !!!

that means you won't find this inconsequential, irrelevant piece of non news anywhere else!
I wonder if they think the other news networks are jealous.
Why don't you tell us who Lyin Ryan DID call for advice on his upcoming debate

Considering her stellar choices post election ect. why would he? It's pretty obvious why he wouldn't! Unless he wants his own reality TV show. The best thing he can do is come out and ace the debate against Vice President Biden which I don't think should be very hard.

Obama did not take us on a wmd hunt, did not charge two wars, squander a budget surplus, it took years of neglect to dig this hole we are in, mind all the obama naysayers, the stock market has almost doubled since obama, got rid of bi laden, who seem to elude all other administrations, helped the auto industry, as the federal gov't bailed out the airlines(post 911) and chyrsler years ago, everybody's head must have been in the sand pre obama

Audacity is the word comes to mind. Paul should certainly ask Sara Palin for her advice. She was THE MOST QUALIFIED candidate for VP for many decades. She was knowledgeable, articulate and had all the right answers for the reports and American public. She should be running for President of the United States of America. Not to mention that she is/was very well versed in foreign policies. Palin for 2016!

Hahahaha... ""he has nearly destroyed America..." Hahahaha!! Oh good one. How arrogant is THAT statement? Let's see... what's destroyed America – the fact that we illegally invaded a sovereign country on the basis of lies and deposed its leader? No, wait, Bush did that. That we have doubled the size of government? No wait, Reagan did that, and all the following presidents added more workers – Bush II added an entire new department! Um... that we once again ran up the deficit? Again, this is news? That Obama spent nearly as much as Reagan and happened to be in office to oversee the Bush Stimulus/bail-out distribution? (And let's face it, no president ever spent as much as Bush II...) What else, oh- the international relation-credibility, no no wait, that again was President GW Bush, making this country a maverick/bully/laughingstock... Hmmm what else brought this country to the brink of destruction? You're talking about the Affordable Care Act which took millions of people OFF medicaid and gave them the eligibility to purchase their own insurance coverage with their own money?? Or maybe you're talking about the investing in America's long-neglected infrastructure, which also created jobs?? Or maybe the tightening of the deportation of illegal aliens which resulted in more deportations than ANY other president managed? Um... the stabilizing of a fragile economy? The revoking of the pointless and hypocritical DADT? The fact that we haven't entered into any new war and have rid the world of many terrorist leaders including Osama bin Ladin? Yeah, yeah, I can see how those things REALLY are destroying America....

    Obama was given a chance
-------------------------------------------------President Obama was given an economy in the toilet, two wars, and half of the U. S. Congress absolutely dedicated to obstructing all progress. He was also "given" a huge population of red state racists who spent their time with ridiculous "birther" conspiracies rather than working to help America. Republicans in the Senate filibustered everything – even their own initiatives. Te Tea Party in the House offered only political theater – with "personhood" bills and absolutely nothing in the form of compromise towards solving the economic crisis. You repeated sound bites from Fox News. His medical program was Romneycare – a Republican program! Stimulus packages saved us from a great depression – ask any economist. Think like an American rather than a Klansman!

This is not news. Ryan didn't go out of his way to proclaim that he didn't call Sarah Palin. Why is this a headline? The State Dept. is currently under investigation for the cover-up of the Libya terrorist attack where our Ambassador was murdered. Where is that headline ??
