(CNN) - A combative debate Thursday between Vice President Joe Biden and Republican challenger Paul Ryan came down to the issue of trust.
The running mates to President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney in next month's presidential election each challenged the other's facts and claims in the 90-minute nationally televised debate that was their only showdown of the campaign.

Ryan won, not only was Biden full of hot air, but very rude and unprofessional on top of out of touch.
Vp Biden came off as a grumpy old man out of touch. He has a great Medicare smile though. How many times could this white teeth goof interrupt someone? Not listening to the otherside is the reason we are in this mess. It's your way or the highway I guess. I was on the fence on who to vote for but this jack wagon made it clear to me. Ryan seemed and at most part tried to explain things but grumpy was just not having any of it. It was like my grandma telling me to drink my yo hoo and to go to bed. Well grumpy, I know you want me to go to bed, but the rest of the United States is trying to tell you something. This Country is in deep crap and we need someone to get us out of it. My Friend, I don't Beleive you can help us at all. Voting for the other guy.
I cant believe america would ever want to elect a president who calls nearly half the country freeloaders and moochers and doesn't believe the middle class american worker is entitled to government relief and that we should take responsibility for our own lives.. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS THE REASON WE cant work they put us here in the 1st place!
VP Biden seemed to be more honest and also showed more intelligence than Paul Ryan. Me. Biden won no doubt about it!
Biden won this debate...I loved the fact that he interuppted Ryan to debunk Ryan's lies...GO JOE!!!!
wake up people! what has obama/biden ticket done for american in four years! absolutely nothing just spend my hard earned money and put us in debt. we cannot afford another four years of obama!!!!!!!!!! please dont listen to their chicago style of politics to scare us into keeping the dems in office. there was a time that if someone did not do a great job he in fact would lose his job. please vote obama OUT.
Biden just SERVED Ryan, period.
The one who had the primary burden of answering questions was Biden. He must answer to not only the unfulfilled promises and pledges made four years ago, but the complete meltdown of our economy, including tax hikes on the middle class, significant unemployment, the failures of our social security and Obama "Care", ginormous increase in debt and increasing discrepancy In world trade... Etc....etc... Biden's answer... laughing, interrupting, and smirking... Ryan and the Republicans were clear victors!
Biden looked desperate when he kept interrupting, Paul Ryan seemed calm, cool, and collected. Ryan seemed more honest with the facts while Biden felt pressed to smile and laugh trying to drowned out Ryan. At first this was a bit irritating, but then seemed apparent and sad by Biden. Poor style by Biden. Ryan wins for me.
As an Independent voter, I will say Biden looking into the cameras eye was the most moving moment.... He was speaking to me, although I'm not there yet for Medicare and SS benefits, my grandmother and mom are. Living in CA where fixed income puts you in the land of barely making it although you worked all your life as an educator or independent contractor, for Biden to say if Romney/Ryan had their way when the recession hit, that my grandmother and mom would have suffered tremendous loss. Makes one not ponder but make a sound decision in leaning toward the Obama/Biden ticket
Biden and Obama played the blame game again, by throwing America's intelligence community under the bus ... but, previous statements and video ... contradicts Biden's assertions that the White House was never asked for more security in Libya ... or, that it was a terrorist attack ... resulting in a conclusion that Biden was lying ... Also, Biden's condescending sneers were extremely rude and disrespectful.
I can't believe Romney and Ryan are trying to get elected without giving the American people any actual answers to questions about their outrageous promises. A two trillion dollar increase in defense spending after the wars are over? Romneycare but no bill-payer? Money the Joint Chiefs of Staff didn't even request? Reduce the deficit with "unspecified cuts"? They say "trust me"... Now I really want to see their tax returns.
joe biden won my vote

and so we were saying who won?
I think Jo Biden's manner was very unprofessional. Paul Ryan won my trust. I admired him for keeping his cool despite the 82 rude interruptions.
I find it funny that some say ryan won because he was calm during the debate. Obama was calm and in his debate but some how he lost. I dont get some of you right wing people.
Biden has always been one of the more likable democrat senators for me. He certainly held his own and did score some blows against Ryan but I think, as other posters mentioned, Biden smiling while Ryan was talking about serious issues like unemployment was downright offensive. Also, Ryan OWNED Biden & the Obama administration on the Libya attack and Biden had NOTHING. IMHO. BTW, I am a moderate, centrist, non-partisan, Independent.
