McGovern on life support in hospice, family says

(CNN) - Former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern was on life support and "no longer responsive" on Wednesday, two days after he was admitted to a hospice, his family said.

The 90-year-old former U.S. senator from South Dakota suffers from a variety of ailments "that have worsened over recent months" due to age, the McGovern family said in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon.

It's a shame that good democrats die and evil republicans live on and on.

Thank you for your service, Sir.

I'm sorry to hear this. He has done a lot here to help substance abusers get their lives back together, all in honor of his daughter Teresa who died here about twenty years ago. A modest and humble man who very quietly and without a lot of fanfare did a lot of good. God bless you and your family.
