Romney: Obama's 'running on fumes'

Chesapeake, Virginia (CNN) - Mitt Romney renewed his criticism of President Obama in his first appearance after Tuesday's contentious presidential debate, and accused his rival of not having a plan for a second term in office.

But the GOP presidential nominee did not mention Tuesday night's skirmish over Libya that has dominated much of the coverage of the debate.

On a sunny afternoon in Chesapeake, Virginia, Romney told an audience of several thousand the president was focused on attacking him instead of offering his own agenda.

"Don't you think that it's time for him to finally put together a vision of what he'd do in the next four years if he were elected?" Romney said, the day after the two men clashed in the second presidential debate at Hofstra University in New York. "I mean, he's got to come up with that over this weekend because there's only one debate left, on Monday."

Romney ticked through questions he said the president had avoided answering during the debate, including on immigration reform, the jobs market, and gas prices.

"I think it's pretty clear that when it comes to his policies and his answers and his agenda, he's pretty much running on fumes," Romney quipped, telling voters they had 20 days left to make a choice about America's future.

However, the Republican candidate did not address the foreign policy issue that became a flashpoint Tuesday night, when Obama and Romney clashed over the administration's handling of the attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi last month.

During the debate, Romney charged Obama had fumbled the response to the killings of four Americans in Libya. Obama fired back at Romney and accused him of politicizing the issue.

And after a night in which Democrats felt they had scored on women's issues, in Virginia Romney made a concerted effort to reach out to independent female voters.

"This president has failed America's women," Romney told the audience. "As I go across the country and ask women what can I do to help, what they speak about day in and day out is help me find a good job, or a good job for my spouse. And help my kid, make sure my children have a bright future, better schools and better job opportunities."

"That's what the women of America are concerned about and the answers are coming from us and not from Barack Obama," Romney said.

Calling Obama "running on empty" is pretty bold stuff coming the guy who has been incapable of stating anything true in the debates.
Mr. Romney continues to come off as a sort of clueless, petulent, Mr. Howell version of G.W. Bush- pretty scary as a suposed Presidential candidate.

We totally support Candy Crowley. She is what all of us who go to college for Radio/TV/Motion pictures hope to be: real, smart, professional, honest, and someone who keeps their cool under fire. She is fantastic. She is the consummate professional. The negative comments today were vindictive and seem to be very vicious. I think a lot of the nasty people are just jealous, and the rest are just right wing fanatics. These people who are sniping at her need to get a life. She's done nothing wrong. She's elevated her profession and her peers.

Romney has strength of character – which pillars over Obama. He also respects the women who work with him – unlike the president – who sends the women of his cabinet out to take a bullet for him.

Interesting that the candidate of the party that has not had an original idea on anything in over 3 decades is accusing a sitting president of having running on fumes, when he's had to clean up the mess they created. He has said repeatedly that the buck stops with him, unlike the man who wants to replace him, who could not admit the ACA was based on his one signature accomplishment. We saw an ambulance-chaser who crashes parties with his wife and then claims friendship with a dead hero attempt to continue his snake-oil pitch last night. Good thing the president took off the golves and pushed back, and reminded him that he had to greet four flag-draped coffins, not the dressage specialist.

At least Romney has some plans for the next 4 years.
Obama doesn't have a record he can run on , so he goes on attacks.
Last night was Obama's chance to tell us what his plans are for the future , he didn't offer anything.
Also , both the President and Biden lied about Bhengazi .

You Mr. Romney are running out of time. Get real and leave already. You offened me for the comments you had about women. Hopefully, the women who are going or leaning Romney should really consider what this man says. The problem is he doesn't have any answers, yet women still want to vote for him. I look at it as you get what you vote for, so don't complain when and if this moron gets into office.

Mr. Romney's five point plans does not explain what he will do. No one has to be a genius to know that the economy is improving. You only have to take a shopping trip to box stores to know that. The clincher will be the Holiday Season if the retailers are successful. Right now the stores have much more merchandise in them. That is an indicator that things are looking up.

The Libya issue is being bandied about and stories abound. Those who seem to feel that they need to blame someone should think back to the 230 marines who were killed and Mr. Reagan;s complete shock. Mr. Bush's complete shock on 9/11. Now we have Mr. Romney trying to talk about foreign policy. He is not prepared at all because he cannot treat it like a business that he will take over.

Obama was clearly the winner in the debate. Romney tried to lie but was called out for it.

I can't believe Americans would think about giving Mitt the keys to the White House.

He'll fire big bird, put women in binders, have illegal immigrants self deport and reinstate slavery. We are not going
    backwards but forwards

Why do Pundits claim Pres Obama is not clear on his path forward its a talking point that is not True! Pres Obama has said he wants to boost the economy through new technology (new energy sources), educating and training people for jobs that are availablle now but people dont have the skills to fill them; hiring back teacher law enforcement, and fire fighters, building our infrastructure and lowering the taxes for small business and the middle class. His plan sits on John Bohners desk, so why do pundits continue to act as if there is no plan to move us forward?

Mr. Romney we need specifics and we need to know what your five point plan might be.

Mr. Ryan told us this morning that they will work with Congress. This is the man who walked out on a committee to which he been appointed because he did not like what they were doing. He showed us his budget plan which was written without any input from members of the Democratic Party. Now he would like us to believe that the Democrats support him. He actually said this with a straight face. The more I see the less I believe he could or should be vice president. I do not believe he has the maturity to do so.

I was thinking the same, when Obama said Romney was a decent person. Not sure there is much to go on with that. Just a flip flopper in the etch a sketch moment as promised by his campaign staff.

Good news is that he is a former cult member. Billy Graham certified God's reversal, all is forgiven. That will make him reborn as mainstream decent.
