Unemployment falls in seven swing states

New York (CNNMoney) - Unemployment declined in 41 states in September, seven of which are key battlegrounds in the election. But falling unemployment rates don't necessarily point to improvement.

Ohio, which has 18 electoral votes up for grabs, saw its unemployment rate decline to 7% in September, down from 7.2% just a month earlier. While hiring has picked up slightly in the state, unemployment is mostly falling for the wrong reasons.

Jesus Christ. Does President Obama have to walk on water in order to get a tiny bit of credit and respect? Say what you want, but if he didn't have that black blood in him, he would be up in the polls by 20%. This race is about RACE.

Florida's labor force is growing, which is an encouraging sign. More people are trying to get jobs in the state, and they're getting them. Over the last year, hiring has not only kept up - it has grown at a rate five times faster than Florida's expanding labor force.
I don't see how this as bad news. The Ohio numbers can be alot better. But at least manufacturing is coming back and the automotive jobs in the state were saved. If Congress will pass a infrastruucture bill, that can put thousands back to work.

"Does President Obama have to walk on water in order to get a tiny bit of credit and respect?"

I'm sorry, but the only two GOP/Teatroll responses you will ever see to Obama walking on water are the following:

    "What, he can't fly?"

"See? I told you they can't swim."

Data driven, you wish. Improved economic numbers almost ALWAYS benefit the incumbent. Mitt Romney's probably throwing a fit at these numbers right now.

You are catching up to Canada – slow but sure !

Canada has one of the best economies in the world – because we tax the rich and we put tons of money in our schools and infrastructure – we have universal health services and post secondary education is one of the least expensive in the world – yes we pay more taxes but pay less in health and education hence we have more "'take home pay" tha USA

and because of our social safety net we have MORE business men/families who want to come to Canada than ANY OTHER COUNTRY

looks like Obama is on the right track

It should be interesting to see the polling that comes at the same time. I would like to see each of the campaigns and their responses to this.

@Sniffit - that is funny with the GOP/teapublican response. The problem is that it is true. Many of these people don't understand the art of the compromise which is needed in Congress and between the Congress and the White House.

Here in Virginia, voter surpression is alive and well. Some GOP operative was arrested last night for destroying voter registration forms. Where't the story on that CNN?

So what! Obama could cure cancer, AIDS, pay down the deficit, bring world peace, and the Republicans will never give him the support or the kudos he deserves. So from a REAL PATRIOT to another, I would like to say "Thank you President Obama for taking us from 800,000/month job loss and turning things in the right direction."

That keeps being reported, only to be revised upward again, as soon as no one is looking!

The "big drop" conveniently timed right before the last debate, was a phoney........it was revised upward just days later, and the unemployment actually INCREASED, not dropped.

Manipulation of the numbers, is another way Obama lies to the people.

I get calls and emails every week from IT recruiters looking to fill jobs in FL. There are jobs out there if you have the right skills. America needs to retrain laid off workers to fill these jobs and not bring in more H1b workers from other countries. I wish someone would bring H1b visas up during the debates. They are hurting American IT workers because companies don't send them home ever.

On top of that Ben Stein "shocked" the three stooges on Fox by saying "we've got to raise taxes, there's just
    no way around it".
He went even further with Laura Ingraham who hosted O'Reilly's show. Read the transcript – it is priceless.
In other words (mine not his) Norquist, take your pledge and ***** it!

The "full story" talks about how more than 40,000 people have dropped out of Ohio's labor workforce, but what about the other states? how many people dropped out of their state's workforce? Yeah, unemployment is falling, but excluding these people doesn't make sense either. It doesn't give us the whole picture.
