Obama to appear on MTV

(CNN) - President Barack Obama's pop culture push is on.

Obama will participate in a live television program on MTV Friday, the television network said Tuesday, where he will field questions from young voters.

- Check out the CNN Electoral Map and Calculator and game out your own strategy for November.

The president's appearance on MTV will come two days after he sits down with Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show," and just over a week after he sat in the sat in the hot seat on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show."

Obama will field questions from college students in Washington, D.C. and via Facebook, MTV said, in a conversation facilitated by the network's news correspondents.

"MTV's 'ASK OBAMA LIVE: an MTV Interview with the President' marks the first time in this campaign that either President Obama or Governor Romney have focused solely on young voter's top concerns - including jobs, the cost of college, rising student loan debt, social issues like LGBTQ rights, and immigration, to name a few - on a nationally televised program," MTV said in a statement. "MTV has invited Governor Romney to participate in a live, 30 minute special as well, and hopes to also conduct a sit down interview with him in advance of Election Day."

Uh oh... i think Republicans forgot to factor in the newly registered first time voters. The YOUTH. And something tells me they won't be voting for a guy who will send them off to a war with Iran.

I think a more sound strategy would be a guest appearance on "Here comes Honey Boo Boo" with exclusive, un-aired scenes posted on the DNC website. Hopefully Stephanie Cutter and the other wiz kids on the campaign can get this trending on twitter, of course their campaign will have to compete with #Lindsaylohandidwhat?, which is currently getting a lot of retweets.

Obama is only concerned about how he looks. He needs to spend more time on the issues at hand instead of trying to look like a celebrity.

What a bunch of uneducated characters trashing our President. Don't you realize that by not showing respect for our President you don't show respect for our democracy. After all, our Predident was elected democratically by voters of the US. Show the respect you were taught in your homes

I am surprised Romney didnt appear on these shows. I assume the campaign felt it wouldnt help him. Personally I disagree and if it swayed just 1000 voters in a particular state (as happened before) it could be the difference between a win and a loss. Even if he said nothing substantial or nothing more than the sound bites from the campaign trail its the exposure that counts. "Boxers or briefs" is still one of the more memorable parts of that election even tho it was a silly question. Everyone had a good laugh about it and it showed whether or not someone had a sense of humor. I wonder what Romney would have said.

Obama is NOT presidential – too flashy, too showy. Bad taste, bad understading of reality.

The bottom line is both parties need to go out and get as many people to VOTE!! no matter how they do it. That way we
will have a president for all the people and we can welcome back the 47% Romney blew off. It is up to us the American
people to do our part and VOTE!! So MTV or whatever it takes, lets get this done.

Willard will avoid The MTV forum because he will face real questions that he would actually have to answer. He has not provided any details of his plans but says a lot of stuff that is later reshaped by his handlers.

He pretty much endorsed our president last night so he might as well stop his campaign now.

What was wrong about Pres Obama appearing on " The View" he was questioned by 5 women , and the audience is majority female , it may not be a so called hard edged political show , but really how many americans regularly watch the serious sunday political shows . At least he was willing to face ordinary people on TV. Remember Romney originally agreed to appear on The View with his wife Ann , but he cancelled his appearance because he was scared of of beibg questioned by 4 dangerous , hard tongued left leaning women ,but he let his wife go on the show despite the hosts being so dangerous. How will Romney, if he is elected Pres manage face to face negotiations with all those nasty foreign leaders who have problems with the US , will he send Ann in as his replacement

You Republicans are tragic, tragic people. You pretend, against all evidence, that the debt grew the day that Barack Obama became president. George Bush started the joke that has become our current condition and you people won't even admit it. I could take you people seriously if you would kist be honest. But you can't just say "I'm a racist and I don't like his color. No, it's all about the "economy". The economy is just an excuse, since you never said a word about it during the final years of the Bush presidency, where this all started. Try being honest with yourself. It is refreshing.

@ Sue – Hahahahahaha! You are ridiculous. If Romney wins, you'll wipe that stupid smirk from your face since you are probably one of the 47% Romney doesn't care for. Hahahahahhahahahaaaaaa!

Unlike Romney, President Obama is actually reaching out to all Americans. From rich to poor, to young and old. In this 21st century majority of Americans watch tv= MTV, ComedyCentral, NBC, ABC, ect.. And to be honest it sound really smart to me.

It would be interesting to get the Presidents view on how music, social media and technology has influenced him personally and impacted his Administration as the 44th President of the United States of America.Had it not been for the MTV generation,it's safe to say his success may not have happened in 2008.

I dont understand how it can be trashed talk when the President of the United States is taking time to speak to young voters..i would love the opportunity to speak to him...i would tell him how while things are still tough, he has done what he said would, he made things happen that i wanted and made me feel better through the most difficult financial time of my life because he proved i could trust him and knew he was doing all he could with my needs in his consideration...I AND MY FAMILY ARE BETTER OFF THAN WE WERE 4 YRS AGO...obama will win because the people want him to continue what we put him there to do!
