Obama to appear on MTV

(CNN) - President Barack Obama's pop culture push is on.

Obama will participate in a live television program on MTV Friday, the television network said Tuesday, where he will field questions from young voters.

- Check out the CNN Electoral Map and Calculator and game out your own strategy for November.

The president's appearance on MTV will come two days after he sits down with Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show," and just over a week after he sat in the sat in the hot seat on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show."

Obama will field questions from college students in Washington, D.C. and via Facebook, MTV said, in a conversation facilitated by the network's news correspondents.

"MTV's 'ASK OBAMA LIVE: an MTV Interview with the President' marks the first time in this campaign that either President Obama or Governor Romney have focused solely on young voter's top concerns - including jobs, the cost of college, rising student loan debt, social issues like LGBTQ rights, and immigration, to name a few - on a nationally televised program," MTV said in a statement. "MTV has invited Governor Romney to participate in a live, 30 minute special as well, and hopes to also conduct a sit down interview with him in advance of Election Day."

Hasn't found time to meet with his own jobs council since January.. but will appear on MTV. You've got to love Obama's dedication to doing his job...

I think it is refreshing that is trying to reach out to community. Last week Obama representatives were in Conyers, Georgia. Small town county in which most people would forget, but I love. It shows that he really cares about everyday people.

People in this country live in a dream world. They complain about Mr.Obama visiting MTV even though the very next ticker story talks about the ad Clint Eastwood has done for Mr. Romney which is now on tv.

Rachel, Mr. Obama has given many interviews to journalists during the last four years. Sorry you missed them.

The real President you mention got his start in Massachusetts where he caused damage. He lost interest in the state and his job two years into his term. He began his run for the presidency and has been doing so every since. This economic downturn is slowly moving upward. You can see it every day as you pass malls, big box stores, movie theaters, dept. stores, etc. People are doing better. Those who have continued to do very well, the upper 2% which includes Mr. Romney, Mr. Ryan, and many members of Congress never even felt the downturn. Their accounts just got bigger.

Very few, if any, want the Puppet Man Romney on their show especially after his last two televised presidential butt whippings, so don't hate.
President Obama we want to see you EVERYWHERE. You're your own best political ad. The Rethugs know this so you get out there and do your thing getting us fired up and ready to go!!
    Forward America!!
    Obama 2012.

It's funny that one you would have your name for posting as "Truth Hurts". Are you serious? If you believe in truth, you definitively should not vote for Romney!!! A liar, that lies about everything and twist everything just to get your vote..That is what he wants, your vote only..not to fix america. I would rather have a person that choose to be a community organizer, to help those in need, than a man that choose to make money for himself and not caring who gets hurt on the way, just to make money....Sure he's a business man, but there are successful business man/woman that didn't have to roll over people to make money....."Truth Hurts"...Political party is not a sport team that would always care no matter how they do..You can change your votes according to your ideology and commitment, not based on lies!! be true to yourself and search your soul.

I laugh at the posts that "Obama will meet with anyone and answer any questions". He'll meet with other celebrities but won't meet with the press (hasn't done a press confernce in months), and when he does it is "off the record" as with the Des Moines Register so anything that would give a negative impression is trapped within the cocoon of "journalistic integrity". He even needed help from the moderators at the debates. The pile of debris that is the Obama administration is so large I'm not sure how anyone cannot read the facts and judge it a complete and utter failure.

It is obvious that TV debates and imterviews
WORK and MATTER. Campaign reform is a MUST! The money spent on negative or positive tv ads and travel by anyone including superpacs is a great loss for humanity at large. The redirection of $ that could be saved or spent for real improvements of the United States alone is a no-brainier! We all need to move FORWARD on this issue!

Ok so I have two points.
    1) nobody watches MTV anymore, no one that matters.

    2) to the person saying at least he didn't have a private dinner for $50,000 plates and the bash the 47% , well he might not have said anything about the 47% but he did have a luncheon that costs people over $50000 a plate here in Houston.

    So your statement is void.

I am so sick of this Pres making television appearance after television appearance. Do you think he could do his job instead all these television appearances and vacations?

It isn't that appearing on MTV isn't the right thing to do; it's that if Obama does get re-elected it will be on the backs of 18-year old girls. That doesn't produce a mandate to change the things he's been doing wrong in the first four years. Presidents elevate the debate, talk to the WHOLE country about big important things. Obama is scaring young girls into thinking that on January 21, 2013, that they'll be buying condoms on a street corner somewhere. Grow up.

So, am I supposed to believe that the people who actually watch MTV will pull themselves away from that programming (drivel) to vote? Now that is funny.......I don't care who you are.

His "campaign" is devolving, a reflection of his base.

Very glad that the President is motivating the youth vote through his appearance on MTV.
Even more happy that the Rethugs, racists, haters and other bottom feeders won't be able to BLOCK him from reaching out to OUR youth like they did at the very beginning of his presidency.
Reach out Mr. President, let the youth know that you speak for them and to get out there and vote.
    Obama 2012.

That's where the sock monkey belongs – on MTV – with the pierced and tattooed droolers hunched over their laptops while swilling energy drinks. MTV is irrelevant – right up their with Pimp with a Limp - typical of Obama and his "star" status. He's a wannabe celebrity - but a Commander in Chief - not on your (or the 4 American's) life!!!!

This is just another ”news” story by the lame stream media using titillating headlines to divert attention away from Obama's dismal record.

No more American division or derision. No more failed economic and foreign policies. Enough is enough. Obama is out of time, America is out of money and patience.
    OMG: Obama Must Go!!

Just watched Obama give a "speech" it sounded more like he was trying to write a rap song about Gov. Mitt Romney....this country does not need an entertainer we have pleanty of those. Mr. Obama once again doesn't seem to understand or care that the rest of the world is watching and he sounds like a preacher not a leader. Please Mr. Obama stop embarassing this nation and start to present yourself as the president of the United States.
