CNN Poll: Obama 50%-Romney 46% in Ohio
(CNN) - With a week and a half to go until Election Day, a new poll indicates the race for arguably the most important battleground state remains very close.
According to a CNN/ORC International survey released Friday, President Barack Obama holds a four point advantage over Republican nominee Mitt Romney in the contest for Ohio's much fought over 18 electoral votes.

Micro-targeting offers clues to early vote leads
Washington (CNN) – In blog posts, conference calls and dueling press releases, both presidential campaigns are locked in a flame war over who has the edge in early voting.
The Obama campaign says its sophisticated field operation is running up the score before Election Day and bringing new voters into the fold. Romney forces, counting on Republican grassroots enthusiasm and a re-tooled ground game, say they've narrowed the early voting gap since 2008.

FIRST ON CNN: National Republicans putting money in sleeper Pennsylvania Senate race
Washington (CNN) – National Republicans are dedicating half a million dollars to the GOP candidate trying to unseat Democratic Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, CNN has learned.
With 11 days to go before Election Day, this is the first time the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has invested in this race, a surprise since most political prognosticators consider this Senate seat likely to stay in Democratic hands.

Miami Herald backs Obama
(CNN) - The Miami Herald announced it was again endorsing President Barack Obama on Friday, although it chastised both candidates for being "big on rhetoric and stingy on details."
While the newspaper's praise of Obama was couched, it cited his handling of the economy, health reform, and foreign policy.

Johnson: Libertarianism is 'fast growing segment'
(CNN) - Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson weighed in Friday on his potential impact on the 2012 presidential race during an interview with CNN's "Newsroom."
"Where are the majority of Americans being represented by either of these two (parties). And I'll just tell you from my viewpoint, what I'm representing is the fastest growing segment of American politics today. The whole Libertarian movement," he said. "We'll see what happens on Election Day."
Romney pledges 'big change' but offers few specifics
Ames, Iowa (CNN) – Mitt Romney renewed his bid for independent voters Friday, pledging in a formal speech to unite a fractious Washington and deliver "big change" to reset the country's course.
"This election is a choice," Romney told more than a thousand voters on a windy Iowa afternoon, saying Americans faced "a choice between the status quo - going forward with the same policies of the last four years - or instead, choosing real change, change that offers promise, promise that the future will be better than the past."

Obama goes on the air in Minnesota countering Romney campaign move
Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama's campaign has made a very small ad buy in Minnesota to counter a new purchase by Mitt Romney in the state, an Obama campaign official and a Republican ad tracking source told CNN.
Earlier Friday a Romney campaign official confirmed it had bought a small amount of television ad time in Minneapolis. Two ad tracking sources told CNN the Romney buy was about $30,000 and would run Saturday through Tuesday. The amount of the Obama buy has not been disclosed.

'Superstorm' meets barnstorm as weather and politics collide
(CNN) – The potential "superstorm" that's currently projected to make landfall on the East Coast as soon as Monday is already having ramifications on the campaign trail, and could pose new, unexpected challenges to the candidates in the final sprint toward Election Day.
Mitt Romney's campaign has already canceled a Sunday evening event in Virginia Beach, citing the forecast showing outer bands of Hurricane Sandy beginning to throw rain on the region this weekend. A Joe Biden event slated to take place in the same city on Saturday was similarly canceled, as was an event featuring first lady Michelle Obama that was scheduled for Tuesday at the University of New Hampshire.

Ohio Poll: Obama 49%, Romney 47%
(CNN) - A new poll taken after the final presidential debate indicates President Barack Obama has a slight edge over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in Ohio.
Forty-nine percent of likely voters in the state back Obama, compared to 47% who support Romney, according to the American Research Group survey released Friday.
