Christie on Sandy: 'I am not going to play politics'

(CNN) - A staunch Republican, and a top surrogate for Mitt Romney, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie crossed the aisle this week and praised President Barack Obama for his support and handling of the federal response

"This is much more important than any election, Piers. This is the livelihood of the people in my state," Christie said Tuesday on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight." "When the president does things that deserve praise, I will give him praise. And when the president does things that deserve scorn, I'll give him scorn."

Gosh CNN what lousy journalism. He said he was not playing politics so if that is true what is all this garbage about crossing the aisle? Both gentlemen Gov Christie and Pres Obama have said fixing the problem is what matters. Stop trying to make Sandy a political issue. Obama has announced a 3 day break in his campaigning.... Romney is back on the campaign in Ohio tomorrow.
Get down to the real issue of how this storm may affect voting as many states need electrical power in voting or polling stations, unless they have time to convert to pure paper ballots. That would for sure slow down counting at least. Turnout may be an issue as well due to power cuts and bad weather in West Virginia.
Either way (means Republicans and Demoocrats) this storm has an impact turnout.
The other effect thank god is that ads lose about 7m homes for now and poolsters are not going to be able to realistically conduct polls for a while, also good news.
    Regards,
    Hodgson.

Good thing the storm didn't have a pork chop, dangling from a cloud. He'd be out playing in the storm, trying to get a bite of the chop.

  6. Morning1Su,

Americans you will be making a big mistake if you vote for Mitt Romney. He has no compassion in his heart for anyone suffering. He comes first and everyone follows. He is such a disgrace. Lying to the American people and expects us to vote for him. Wish he would just go away. He is like a nightmare that could possibly come true. It is frightening.

WoW ! Good article Cnn ! I watched this on P.M. last nite. As a democrat, I actually have some respect for Christie, for telling it like it is. Truth be known, Christie knows that some of the things that Romney is saying, especially about those GM ads simply isn't true, even the CEO's of Jeep & GM is saying it. I mean, Romney is doing and saying anything to get elected, alongwith Adelson's additional 10 million he's giving Romney's super pacs. It's pitiful I tell ya, pitiful.

  9. A little sad

    Thank you, Gov Christie.

Unfortunately not the same for other Repubs. Take for instance the 12th congressional district in NY. Shashank Tripathi, a New York City hedge-fund analyst who also manages Republican Christopher R. Wight's campaign for the House of Representatives was tweeting lying, scary tweets about the effects of Sandy.

Just another Teapublican using the only tool in their toolbag – lies.

I know I have called him a tub of lard and other no so nice thngs but Christie has shown that when it comes to his state he does care.
I loved him putting down those thee stooges on faux news about is the twit coming to visit. They deserved it for so many lies and dumb things they have spewed for years.
We do have to rememeber that Christie IS a politician before anything else though.

I think there is too little of this in politics nowadays. For some reason we've become so divided that we can't even accept help from one another and even when we do get help the expected political response is to criticize said help or the manner it was delivered in. I admire Gov. Christie for putting politics aside and keeping his humanity unfortunately the right will probably crucify him for this 🙁

Gov. Christie, although I am a staunch supporter of our president, I have you and your state in my prayers. I am most grateful that you were willing to cross party lines to approve of his actions. As you know, you're the only rep. who has done so. I answered the presidents' call to donate to the Red Cross Tues. and sincerely hope it will help in some small way. God says we are our brothers keepers-hope the rest of the country will keep this in mind.
