Obama takes in damage with Christie in New Jersey

(CNN) – Normally rivals, President Barack Obama and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie made no mention of politics Wednesday to tour and assess widespread devastation near Atlantic City, two days after a superstorm left parts of the iconic resort destroyed.

"I cannot thank the president enough for his personal concern and compassion for our state and the people of our state," Christie said after surveying damage from Sandy in Brigantine, New Jersey.

Biden accuses Romney camp of 'outrageous lie'

Sarasota, Florida (CNN) – On a day that saw the return to presidential campaigning – with positive, more subdued messages amid Superstorm Sandy's aftermath – Vice President Joe Biden stood out for intensity: charging harder than usual against his Republican opponents after a widely criticized and disputed claim from the Romney campaign.

During a campaign event in Sarasota, Florida, Biden raged against a fresh Romney ad, accusing the GOP nominee of "desperation in the last hours of this campaign," "trying to scare the living devil" out of voters, and of pushing "an outrageous lie."

Back on stump, Romney aims for right tone

Miami, Fla. (CNN) - Mitt Romney resumed his normal campaign schedule but aimed to strike a "positive tone" Wednesday as people continued to recover from the aftereffects of Sandy, a senior adviser said.

But in a sign that softer tone only extended to a certain point, adviser Kevin Madden would not answer CNN National Political Correspondent Jim Acosta's question about the president's handling of the weather disaster that has upended both candidates' schedules in the final days of the race.

Boehner to kick off get-out-the-vote bus tour in Ohio this weekend

Washington (CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner will join presidential candidate Mitt Romney and vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan in Boehner's home town of West Chester, Ohio at a rally Friday night, before heading off on a three day statewide bus tour to boost GOP turnout in the final weekend before Tuesday's election.

On Saturday morning Boehner will board the same bus he's ridden for his regular pre-election tour since the 1990's. The bus, originally owned by one of Boehner's neighbors, is wrapped in his signature "Team Boehner" green logo, and will travel around the state hitting more than a dozen towns in three days.

Biden: 'You'll vote for me in 2016'

Sarasota, Florida (CNN) - Did Vice President Joe Biden court his first voter Wednesday for a possible 2016 presidential bid?

While he has previously hinted at a potential run, Biden smiled as he mentioned–perhaps jokingly–a White House run on the phone with a voter during a campaign stop at a Sarasota, Florida restaurant.

Battleground Blog: Ohio's senators weigh in on Romney Jeep ad controversy

EDITOR'S NOTE: CNN has sent dozens of reporters, producers, contributors and correspondents to the key battleground states to cover the final days of the 2012 election. Here CNN Contributor John Avlon offers his take on a controversy surrounding some claims Mitt Romney has made about the auto industry.

(CNN) - Here in Ohio and other Rust Belt battleground states where this election will be decided – the auto bailouts are a personal, political and pocket-book issue.
