Romney ad pins Obama to Chavez and Castro

(CNN) – A television ad from Mitt Romney's campaign airing in Miami pegs President Barack Obama to Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, notorious dictators widely reviled among Cuban Americans.

The ad spotlights endorsements from Chavez and Raul Castro's daughter Mariela, who both said they would vote for Obama if they could. According to ad-tracker CMAG, the spot aired Tuesday.

"Who supports Barack Obama?" a narrator asks in Spanish before clips of the two endorsements run.

"And to top it off, Obama's Environmental Protection Agency sent emails for Hispanic Heritage month with Che Guevara's photo," the narrator continues in the spot, referring to an internal email at the EPA. The agency later said it was sent in an unofficial capacity.

Chavez announced at the beginning of October that if he could vote in the U.S. election it would be for Obama. The leftist leader and strong man, who has used strong anti-United States language in his political rallies and official speeches, told state-owned VTV, "In the point of view of his politics, if I were voting, I would vote for Obama and I believe that if Obama was from Caracas, he would vote for Chavez, I am positive."

Latino voters, who are particularly concerned about Chavez's rule of Venezuela, make up a voting bloc seen as crucial this year. While non-Cuban Latinos overwhelmingly support Obama, according to polls, Romney and Republicans hold an advantage among more conservative Cuban-Americans.

A poll of likely voters in Miami Dade County released last Sunday showed Romney leading Obama among Cuban Americans, 78%-19%.

Dan Restrepo, an Obama campaign spokesman and former special assistant to the president, said Romney "continues to play Hugo Chavez's game, giving Chavez the attention he thrives on and that he doesn't deserve."

"Keeping America safe and advancing U.S. interests requires the kind of leadership President Obama has provided, not Romney's bluster," Restrepo said.

Leftist/socialist dictators always support each other! Yes, they just LOVE Obama in the Whitehouse and to see the devastation he ha sbeen able to bring in 4 years. And they are very eager to see him bankrupt the country and decimate the military in the next four years. Carte blanche for THEM!

Even Putin endorses Obama because of all the concessions, oops I mean "flexibilty", Obama will give him in a second term.

For many years, we the American people lamented that good business people, who knew how the real world worked, would not get into politics to fix the country. We were told they did not want to be dragged thru the mud, and make their family endure the lies and garbage that the slimy political class would heap upon them.
We ought to applaud Romney for getting into politics to apply real world principles to the government. He is squeaky clean and is the poster child for "the American Way". Hopefully his win will encourage more non-political real world business leaders to step up and fix this country before it is too late.

Romney really needs to stop playing with matches and setting his pants on fire, he is an embarrassment to himself! Romney is as shady as they come, reminds me of Dick Cheney and George Bush continuously lying to Americans.

Romney just get over it.This race is over and the President wll get at least 300 Electoral college votes. No matter how you malign Obama, people trust and like the president than you.Remember what Huntsman said at GOP primaries "Its all about trust" even he a Mormon never trusted Mr.Romney.

Billions of $$s from you and your friends like Thomas Peterfrey(The dude with the boring advert about Hungary and socialism) cannot win against the will of the people.

Get the votes by lying in a broad day light...Is this the future President of a Country like USA
Romney’s campaign has stood by the ad, which also was criticized by auto executives.
“Their comments don’t refute anything in our ad,” said Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul.
Top executives at both companies condemned the advertisements as false Tuesday.

So Romney and his Goebbels handlers have broken open their piggy bank and have started airing their biggest lies during the final weekend of the campaign?

Anyone swayed by these laughable pleas to the lowest common denominator of intelligence and global perspective (i.e. lack thereof) deserves what they get…

What is the old saying? "Desperate times call for desperate measures." Mitt has decided to spend the last week telling flat out lies and truth be damned. Jeep is not leaving for China, Obama does not support Cuba, and Obama did save the US auto industry.

If you really think you are ahead and are going to win you don't run ads like this. Really sad and pathetic. This is what happens when you are desperate and have too much money to spend. BFD if it sways Cubans. They make up a tiny percentage of the Latina population outside of Florida. Take away the Cuban support and Romney is getting clobbered by Obama in the Latina vote. Besides if you are Latina what would sway you more Chavez and Castro's daughter saying they would vote for Obama or Romney saying you should self deport yourself and wouldn't sign the Dream Act.

it is sad that the only way Mitt Romney and his campaign thinks he can get Latino votes is by scaring them into thinking that Obama is like Chavez and Castro. How ridiculous and insulting for President Obama.

I read somewhere that both Ghadaffi and bin Laden would've voted for Romney.....if they could.
Romney can't even get ALL of the Conservative-Cubans to vote for him. According to the article some of them will vote for the President.

What a stupid thing for Romney to do. He must have loads of Karl Rove money to burn. Those Hispanics that would be swayed against President Obama by a Castro relative speaking positively about the President weren't going to vote for him regardless; those Hispanics who come out of Central and South America and left because of abject poverty, where the divide between the rich and poor is massive, may Chavez as a champion of the poor – not a communist dictator.

Little, old Romney is now in total panic stage. And for good reason. All his salescrap is falling apart. Nobody believes a
word of what he is saying. He should go back to manipulate distressed assets in his second rate management shop.
And move his money around between all his foreign bank accounts. And generally just shut up.

This coming from a campaign that insist that it is winning. Maybe Romney is biased, racists and unbalanced because the folks at fox will be voting for him. Maybe Romney is dumb because he has persons like Clint and Bush voting for him. Maybe Romney is a war-monger because he has Cheney and Bush # 3 campaigning for him. To hold a candidate responsible for what another person's preferences are is nothing but desperation at its best. Can't wait for November 6. After Obama is announced as the winner, my intent is to propose to my gf. What a way to get rid of the bad nightmare which is MITT ROMNEY.

You are really showing desperation labelling Obama leftist.socialist. Sorry, at best, he is a middle of the road moderate. From your GOP party spinning out-of-control ever rightward, he might seem that way to you, but for us in the real world, he could be much more liberal.

Romney is a joke in our community.
