In fiery speech, Giuliani calls on Obama to resign, faults him for Libya

(CNN) - Not long after taking a few seconds of silence for those affected by Superstorm Sandy, Rudy Giuliani began ripping into President Barack Obama on Friday while speaking at major campaign event for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in Ohio.

The former New York City mayor delivered a series of blistering zingers against the president, rallying the massive crowd with line after line of reasons why Obama should "resign" and faulting him for "incompetence" over the Libya consulate attacks.

With new numbers showing the unemployment rate had ticked up to 7.9%, Giuliani said the Obama administration should be "ashamed of themselves" for framing the figure as a positive sign. Giuliani, however, did not mention that 171,000 jobs were added last month–more than economists were expecting.

"He should resign! He told us he would resign if he did this poorly," Giuliani said, referring to a 2009 interview in which Obama vowed to turn the economy around in three years, otherwise there would be a "one-term proposition."

Giuliani continued to fire off: "He lied. He has been a disaster. The worst president for our economy in our lifetime. He doesn't want a second term. He wants a second chance, because he screwed it up the first time."

The former mayor, who also ran for president in 2008, pivoted to Romney's business experience, saying it should be considered a strength and blasted Democrats for making it a target on the campaign trail.

"They tried to humiliate him because of that. You know something, if Governor Romney can have the success for America that he had for Bain Capital, Thank God! Our people would be working again," Giuliani said, referencing Romney's former private equity firm.

Giuliani received perhaps his biggest applause of the night when he focused on the Benghazi consulate attacks, which killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, in September. The administration is now investigating why the diplomatic post was not robustly staffed prior to and during the attacks.

The former mayor, a top surrogate for Romney's campaign, argued the violence would not have happened if Sen. John McCain had won the presidential election in 2008.

"Maybe if we had a president who was paying attention, we wouldn't be going through all this investigation of what's being covered up about Libya," he said.

He told the audience they have a chance to "right that wrong" by removing the president from office.

"You know that what happened in Libya is the result, at least, of incompetence," he said.

Giuliani placed the responsibility squarely on the Ohio audience to make the change in the Oval Office.

"You know what stands in his way? You know what's going to stop him? Ohio! You're going to do it," he said.

Giuliani is delusional. He's been reduced to a bitter old man and I just lost the last bit of respect I had for him. I guess ranting is the only way he can get attention anymore.

Guiliani and Fox News should resign. What a bunch of liars! Fox News should be held accountable for breaking the code of ethics in journalism and putting the security of our nation in the way of harm. The CIA came out yesterday and completely refuted the stupidity and mendacity of Fox News AND obviously Guiliani..Guliani should be ashamed for what he said today. Absolutely ASHAMED! HOW UNPATRIOTIC to take obvious lies and use them in this way.

Yeah,..this guy has a whole lot of integrity. If it weren't for 9/11, he would have been run out of office and out of politics forever. Another Republican who acts so pompous, and has a personal life worse than Bill Clinton.

Why do these guys continue to get press? The GOP greed on parade buried this country and now Guliani blames Obama. He should be thrown in jail for being so painfully absurd. Rudy – your are the LIAR. Rove- LIAR. Romney – LIAR.
Romney can't even win the state where is was governor – what does that say? That a majority of people from MA aren't as ignorant or foolish as those who will vote for Romney.

Obama's just as guilty for Benghazi, as Giuliani is for Sept 11th, 2001
Americans die EVERYDAY overseas, why is it now the Republicans give a crap about 4 of them?
Giuliani, where was your outrage when thousands of Americans were being killed in Iraq?

These guys are real vultures. As for McCain, if he were president we would still be in Iraq. And how many more soldiers would have died? More than 4.

Giuliani is an irrelevant bedwetter . .

To quote him: "I have never seen a guy - and I've run a lot of elections, supported a lot of people - I've never seen a guy change his positions on so many things, so fast, on a dime. Everything."

"Nothing, absolutely nothing like what Mitt Romney did from governor of Massachusetts to candidate for president," Giuliani responds. "Pro-choice, pro-life. Pro-choice because somebody, a close friend died, and he became pro-choice because this woman died of an abortion. Then he figures out there are embryos, and he changes. He was pro-gun control. Fine. Then he becomes a lifetime member of the NRA. He was pro cap-and-trade. Now he's against cap-and-trade. He was pro-mandate for the whole country, then he becomes anti-mandate and he takes that page out of his book and republishes the book. I could go on and on."

Obama should resign? Over Libya? Are people shocked that a diplomat was killed on foreign soil in an unstable terrorist haven like Libya? Then what should Rudy and GWB have done when some lunatics slammed planes into buildings on our own soil, killing THOUSANDS of innocent civilians? Please tell me. I'm interested in hearing your logic.

How can he say this about Obama? I dont know who Im voting for in this election but Im going to Obama after seeing this video! The Libya attacks would have happened anyways because it was in protest of a video that was posted by an American about Islam. How can he say this about how things should have been run if he cant even run his former city (New York City) when he was mayor. He reminds me of Tim Pawlenty and Michelle Bachman. Im not wanting to bash any politician but I think its time to have politicains (not all but most) to put thier big boy and girl pants on and start working together! This is getting rediculous and it is getting out of hand! I am in the Army and I dont know what I think about our leaders. I respect them all and will do what our President tells me to do but I want a leader who knows what they are doing and can work with others without bashing them constantly! Its time for a clean sweep with our leaders and get them back to where they came from so they understand what this country is going through!

This guy is a terrorist. He doesn't understand America. He was a bad mayor. He didn't do anything during 9/11 other than walk in circles. In fact, I blame him for cutting funding for a radio system that would have saved lives. The blood is on his hands forever. He should shut up.

President Obama will win Ohio. Mr. Romney's bogus auto industry ads will be the last nail in the coffin in his campaign. The fact that he said 'Let Detroit go Bankrupt' has cost him this election.
