First on CNN: Romney internal memo says 'GOP enthusiasm' will tilt election
Columbus, Ohio (CNN) - In the face of poll numbers showing a challenging path to victory Tuesday, particularly in Ohio, Mitt Romney's campaign is telling allies to talk up Republican chances in Democratic-leaning states while insisting that "GOP enthusiasm" will carry Romney to victory on Election Day.
In a memo circulated Saturday to top Republican leaders and surrogates in the media, the Romney campaign says they are "forcing Obama on defense" in states he won handily in 2008 – including Minnesota, Michigan and Pennsylvania, where Romney will campaign on Sunday.

The memo was provided to CNN by a Republican source outside the Romney campaign, which frequently sends out confidential talking points to GOP senators, congressmen and governors.
The memo distributed Saturday is titled "GOTV and the Romney-Ryan ground game."
"With the campaigns even on the ground and in early vote, GOP enthusiasm is going to carry Romney to victory," it reads.
Under a section named "Path To Victory," the memo lists Iowa, Wisconsin and Ohio as "Obama's firewall" (despite the fact that Obama can afford to lose Iowa if he also wins Nevada, where he is favored). Polls show Obama with a slight advantage over Romney in all three Midwestern states.
"Mitt Romney is up or tied with Obama in every key battleground state, forcing Obama on defense in states he won by double digits in 2008 like WI, IA, MI, MN and PA," the memo reads. "Obama's firewall includes two states – WI and IA – he won by double digits and is even with Romney in the polls today."
It continues, "Ohio is his other firewall – a state Obama has been visiting for 4 years and has spent millions of dollars on the air. Obama is behind where he was in 2008 in early vote. The Republican ground game is going to push us over the top."
The document provides data on the number of voter contacts the campaign has made in various battleground states.
It also touts Republican gains in early voting since the last election, when Republicans were out-maneuvered by the Obama campaign in early and absentee balloting in several states.
Polls show Obama leading Romney by double digits among early voters in Ohio and Iowa, two of the states described in the memo as part of Obama's firewall.

After making calls to undecided voters in Ohio, I found that Romney has an excellent chance of winning the state. He has the majority of votes with independents, and votes from some moderate Democrats.

In WI polling, Obama leads by 3, 7, 8, and 9 points, with a tie in the Rasmussen poll.
In IA Obama leads by 2, 4, and 6 points, with Rasmussen and one other poll showing a tiel
That does not look like "even with Romney" in those two states, unless you ignore the seven polls where Obana leads by 2 to 9 points.
With Romney getting 30k at his Ohio event last night I would think the enthusiasm is high as well.
Boy it didn't sound that way when an internal memo was intercepted by democrates saying republicans are getting their butts kicked in early voting in West Palm ,Florida...

more republican magical thinking. it's really weird that republicans say romney is ahead in the swing states. 22 swing state polls were released friday, and obama lead in 20 of them (there were two ties). it has been a long, long time since all the polls were wrong.

Last night David Gergen said Obama was an "odds on favorite" to win. I respect Mr. Gergen, even though I think he "tanked" for Romney about the time his Romney puff piece showed up in my Sunday paper this summer. I also don't think Romney's ground game is "equal" to Obama's in Ohio or Colorado. By the way, could someone over at CNN tell Anderson Cooper to walk back uptown to his penthouse, take a shower, and change clothes before tonight's broadcast. His "Katrina Schtick" is obsolete. But, at least, he doesn't "squeak" any more while trying to inhale and talk at the same time. And, I actually like most of his work.
Wrong again. He's out of touch, out of his mind and soon to be out of the running. Drink in that sense of power while you can. It's fleeting at best, and leaving on track two come Tuesday.

Mitt and Ann Romney were notified today that they have been charged of ethics violations.
Remember... this is not a criminal (jail) or civil (probably settlement) charge. It is ethical, which at minimum would discredit his corporations (he'd then dissolve them) and probably end in a fine or settlement which would only be a fraction of the actual profit. Depending on how this shook out, criminal charges of fraud (based on the viability of the company vs the 12.9b payout) might follow. That would mean jail. If he were president, he would prob be impeached and removed from office giving us President Ryan.
GL Romney.. . The White House doesn't have room for a Flip-Flopper. American's can't afford another 4 years of a "Bush" style government in the White House. The last Bush bankrupt the country and put millions outta work.

Romney's in a dream world. As of Friday Obama is ahead in 19 of 20 swing state polls. At this stage of the game Obama will be the winner and probably with over 300 electoral votes.

Why is this news? This is just the campaign encouraging supporters to rally to the finish. Any spin on such an innocuous memo actually reinforces the idea that Obama is on the defensive. CNN, are you worried?

Team Romney is in denial and it is over for romney's presidential bid come November 6. He may had a remote chance at presidency had he not been such a liar and flip-flopper. Whatever he may say, independent voters can see through him and know that he does not stand for the poor and middle class in the country. Being president of the most developed country in the world is very different from being a business boss where you only make a few people rich at the expense of many lost jobs and causing hardship to many who lost jobs. A business boss does not care for these folks as long he profits from the business. How is that experience useful for running a country? That notion is a myth, only gullible people believe it.
