Palin PAC donates to Romney's campaign

(CNN) – Sarah Palin's political action committee donated $5,000 to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign on the last day of October, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.

The amount, while not huge compared to the large donations both candidates have received from individual donors and other committees, is on par with what Palin's group (Sarah PAC) has donated to other Republican candidates running for House and Senate.

For instance, Sarah PAC has given two donations at $5,000 apiece to Rep. Allen's West's re-election bid, and donated a similar pair of $5,000 donations to Ted Cruz, running for U.S. Senate in Texas. Both of those candidates have received strong backing from tea party groups.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate said in March she voted for Newt Gingrich in her state's GOP primary. During the hard fought contest between Gingrich, Romney, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, she chided the eventual nominee for not connecting enough with conservative voters.

"We can't afford to have low voter turnout in the general election, and that is all the more reason for Romney to really start connecting more with conservatives," she told CNN at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February.

In a statement released when Romney chose Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate, Palin expressed support for the Republican ticket, but didn't expressly use the word "endorse" to describe her feelings toward her party's new standard bearers.

"Congratulations to Mitt Romney on his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate," Palin wrote in a statement, which mentioned Romney's name only four times and Ryan's name only three out of over 1,100 words. The statement was posted on her Facebook page.

The donation from Palin's political action committee to Romney's campaign was reported by, among others, The Washington Post.

CNN's Peter Hamby contributed to this report.

Well that is another nail in their coffin – Republicans must distance themselves from the Tea Party if they want to win.

Does she even believe the things she says? She's cute. But not cuter than the electorate that uses reason when making political decisions.

Concerned citizens who wish to contribute to conservative candidates would do well to direct their donations to SarahPac. Gov. Palin is honest, involved, politically astute, & strategically sensible.

Gov. Romney is NOT presidential material. He is at best a mediocre manager who will say anything to anybody at anytime. Claiming that Jeep/Chyrsler would send jobs to China is a new low in lying for Gov. Romney. The people of Ohio will punish him for misleading them. Palin can only hurt the Republican party by being visible. President Obama will amass over 300 electoral votes by Nov. 7th.

$5000? At the last moments? What's with that? Sarah Palin's PAC is a scam. She spend less than 2% of the finds she pulls in from innocent ( and gullible) Americans on supporting political campaigns. Thankfully she's almost disappeared.

Where did she get the cash for a PAC? She is barely considered a journalist so I am guessing she is just above minimm wage there and her Govrnment salary couldn't amount to much as she quit a year or so into it.
With that said, her endorsement will only prove to help their opponents.

I'd give 5K if Sarah Palin would promise to go off the grid in Alaska and stop showing up in the media.

Looking at her FEC Filing for Q3 she has giving only $69k to candidates while brining in close to $2 million in contributions. Who has she given the most to? Herself. She spent more than $100k in the third quarter on travel, food, lodging, and fuel.
