(CNN) -– A new national poll of likely voters found the race between President Barack Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney tied.
Both candidates stood at 48% in the ABC News/Washington Post poll released Sunday, which was conducted between October 30 and November 2 and had a sampling error of plus or minus 3 points. It surveyed 1,809 likely voters.
A series of polls has begun to trickle in since Friday, giving a view of the race just days out from Election Day on Tuesday. Polling was suspended in some states and nationwide as Superstorm Sandy tore into the East Coast last week.

What BS. This has been the top news for 2 years now. A week from now unfortunately for everyone nothing will change. Those in power will still be laughing at you eating lunch on your dime.
How can they be tied? seriously? It is like Americans love being lied to and believe anything Romulie has to say. He has been caught in sooooo many lies and people still vote for him? No wonder our country is going down with ignorant voters. Grow a conscience, better yet grow some common sense. If Romney gets into office, old folks, students, middle class and poor people are going to be in the gutter. Fact.
If HIllary Clinton or a White man was President and ended the war in Iraq, prevented the U.S. from entering a Depression, saved the U.S. Automobile industry from collapse, and extended healthcare to thirty million people who did not have it, would this election be close? NO. It would be a landslide of historic proportions but because of the color of Barack Obama's skin too many people that have hatred in their hearts cannot rid themselves of the poison of racism.
Polls are generally the best gauge of election outcomes but they dont take into account people that do not have landlines.
Proof that our country is divided. I pray that we get a new chance at change with Romney. Obamas change just didn't cut the mustard. We can't have a president that wants to re-write the Bible and the Constitution to suit his party. What's right is right and what's wrong is wrong. May God bless America again! Romney 2012!
we need to make sure that Romney doesnt get into the white house! Vote Obama! Romney is a man who knows nothing about trying to survive in the middle class. he didnt have to go through what some of us went through and is till going through.. the only family he cares about is his on and the rich amongst him. America is more than a business, its a family and we look out for all..of course there are bad apples but we keep moving FORWARD.
Proof that our country is divided. I pray that Romney is elected, because we cannot have a president in office that wants to re-write the Bible and our countries Constitution. We don't need that kind of change. We need love of country and pride of country. Not racisim, not hate. We need God to bless American again. We need a strong economy and a strong military. We also need a strong president that can handle the business issues of our nation. God Bless America!
I feel we should give a chance to Romney this time.
Libya was nothing more than a spotlight on the complete incompetence of this administration....the resulting cover up and lying to the American public about what happened is nothing short of criminal. The media's lack of coverage in regards to this story and others, will one day be studied by historians and journalism students alike.
The revenge president vs. the distinguished statesman. Romney is peaking at exactly the right time.
i know obama is the right person for the country
The problem with the current polls is this; Obama is leading by a significant margin among those who have already voted. In order to compensate, Romney would need to have a margin of several points among likely voters. If Obama and Romney are essentially tied among those who have yet to vote, Obama is going to have far more votes in total than Romney does.
It may be 48% to 48%, but what about the Electoral College. That isn't that close and that is what is important. I actually believe it is more like 51% Obama to 49% Romney.
Both candidates would face a divided nation and uncooperative Congress, but Obama would also face a defiance from businesses. Lose your job in THIS environment and expect to go on food stamps (as a record 46 million have already done under Obama). I should know. I have a PhD and 10 years business experience, and I'm on food stamps for the second time in 4 years after another contract job expired. I didn't think it could happen to me. Now I consider myself an expert on job search and the job market. You don't want to be in it.
either winner will face a hard 4 years. I prefer it not to be with a WASP rich man who has little compassion for humankind, talk on the street says its not going to be pretty if MITLER is goose stepping in the oval office.
and so it comes down to "undecided" voters. If you haven't decided by now with all of the information overload that has been blazed our way for the last 15 months, I prefer you stay home and don't vote at all.
