(CNN) - Jared Loughner is sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the January 2011 attempted assassination of then-U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the killings of six people and attempted murder of 13 others.
"The evidence clearly shows that he knew what he was doing, despite his mental illness," U.S. District Judge Larry Burns said.

Why is this in the politics section?
Further the media needs to stop treating mass murderers as celebrities. Stop using their names. Stop posting their pictures. Unless they're on the run, no one needs to see these psychopath's faces.
I pray that you Gabby keep healing.
And to Loughner, there are not enough punishments to give you. Although 5 minutes alone with the victims and their families would be a fitting end.
glad she's getting better and he's off the streets forever. good to see that her seat went over to the republicans too.
He need to be put in a cell with a metal door eat in his cel 3 showers a week he stinks enough
The sentence was way too easy. If there was ever a death sentence case, this is the one. If only for the sake of the little girl, that lost her life. What a shame.
Put him in a cell with with 3 gays they love fresh meat
he is so many people who have mental problems they get a way with murder put him in a cell with charles manson he is lonely
@ko
I don't know, maybe because she was a POLITICIAN that almost got assassinated. What is wrong with you anyway? Go back to trolling trade sites.
Watch it liberals. Any physical abuse of a prisoner and I will have Amnesty International and the ACLU crawling all over you. Even people with mental problems have rights you know.
