(CNN) - Video of President Barack Obama's visit Wednesday to his campaign headquarters in Chicago shows the newly re-elected commander in chief becoming emotional while heralding the hard work of his young staffers.
"I am absolutely confident that all of you are going to do amazing things in your lives," Obama says in the video, which was posted on his campaign's official Youtube page Thursday.
In his brief speech to the young crowd, Obama drew parallels to the work his team had just finished and the community organizing post he took up when he first moved to the Windy City at 25, saying his campaign team was "so much better than I was" at accomplishing their goals.
Toward the end of his five-minute-long remarks, Obama got choked up telling the staffers how proud he was of their hard work.
"Even before last night's results, I felt that the work I had done in running for office had come full circle. Because what you guys have done means that the work I am doing is important. And I'm really proud of that. I'm really proud of you," Obama said, wiping away tears.
The show of emotion - extremely rare for Obama - was met with loud applause.
"What you guys have accomplished will go in the annals of history," Obama said.
At his final campaign rally Monday in Iowa, a few tears rolled down Obama's cheek as he delivered his last stump speech.
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, speaking on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight," said he found Obama's emotional display in the campaign video "incredibly moving."
"Putting aside whose side you're on, who you voted for, to see a president of the United States being that raw, that emotional with his campaign volunteers and to see Barack Obama openly weeping at one stage, very unusual, very moving," said Patrick, a Democrat.
Dan Rather, the former CBS anchor, said the moment was "unique in the history of the American presidency."
"I'm not sure there has ever been any American president, perhaps no world leader that I know of in my lifetime, who has come out with that raw emotion in a very attractive way," Rather said on CNN. "Again, whether you like his politics or not, for a lot of people this is going to be a case of ‘the ice man cracketh’ because he had this image of President Barack Obama as cool, ice water in his veins kind of person, and he can be that way."
I love this man, he has such a good spirit and heart, and I'm so glad he was re-elected. Continue to fight for the middle class in your next four years. Congrats President Obama!
I believe he is really a good man... I know what it is to grow up with out a father and it does make you a better man, husband, friend and father.
I could not belive myself that day. I never saw him in such an emotional state. I myself was weeping from watching him. I was going to vote for him no matter what but i love him a lot more now. He is great, i think showing emotion his emotion makes a lot of people see him as a human with a great heart than just a regular politician.
Obama 2012.....Moving Forward!
Need to post this for everyone to see what a joke.
To have a staff believe in you must be very inspiring for Obama and I'd like to think it will be a motivator for him. I like Obama and I think he is a good man. I think history will show him in a positive light.
I am proud of Obama, and I am proud that America voted for him. I am of Indian origin Canadian. President Obama really cares about America and America's future. America is the best country on earth. America needs to show the world that we can come back strong. The republicans in the house should start realizing that, and work with the President and together do the best thing for America. So that America will continue to be the greatest nation on earth, and will continue to invent new things, and continue to be the world leader militarily and a world leader in everything. The news media need to support this too, rather than causing divisive head lines. CNN please post my comments. If I can even change one person with my comments, I will be happy. God bless America, the Greatest and the best country in the world
God Bless our President, and God Bless this country...we got it right again!!! In my opinion in the election shouldn't have even been close for these reasons...
1. Stabilized the housing market
2. Saved our Auto Industry
3. Turned around an economy that was spiraling downward back into a positive direction
4. Took out Ghadafi and his regime
5. TOOK OUT OSAMA
Congrats President Obama, you deserve it!!!!! 4 more years!!!
that is my presiden! so blessed
This man truly believes we can make a better world for all. Definity not easy, but do-able.
one word...."beautiful.".
Obama is the man
He cares. That was the difference in the election. We should not elect machine. Our leaders should be humans just like us.
This is one of the many reasons why Obama was re-elected. He seems to be a person who genuinely cares about people. Whether or not you agree with his policies, he is absolutely passionate about his life's work.. It was truly a rare glimpse of our President, that I am not sure we will see again.
He is a good actor
He cares. That was the difference in the election. We should not elect machines. Our leaders should be humans just like us.
Mr.president! you made me to cry.God bless you!
LOL...ofcourse, Rush will say it shows that he is weak...lol. You go Mr. President...make them swoon again!
It was an honor to work towards the reelection of our President.
President Obama will difinitely go down in history as one of, if not the greatest president ever. I am disgusted, and embarrassed, at all of the bigotry, racism, disrespect and hatred, that this president has been subjected to by, fox lies & propaganda channel, Trump, Rush, Beck, Hannity, Oreily, Franklin Graham, Richard Land, Robert Jeffress, Pat Robertson and all of those 1600+ pastors, and all other hypocrits, who espouse anti-Christian, anti-patriotic, hatred rhetoric toward President Obama, that no other American president has been forced to endure. Those guys are responsible for the decline and detriment of Christianity. President Obamas' re-election, should be a wake-up call to those hypocrits. More of US, had our prayers answered than, they did.
I love this president because he is a genuine person. He deserved to be re-elected because he remains true to his promise even though he knows he can't deliver all of it. God Bless you Mr. President. Keep the Faith.
I Love Obama.
Drama queen !!!
When John Boehner has tears in his eyes for love of country, he's labeled a cry baby. When Obama has tears, he's labeled as having "raw emotion in a very attractive way". Nothing but praise for the tears. Something wrong here.
At least Obama and boehner have something in common.
