BREAKING: CIA Director Petraeus resigns
(CNN) - CIA Director David Petraeus submitted his resignation to President Barack Obama, citing personal reasons, a U.S. government source told CNN.
The source said Petreaus admitted to an extra-marital affair.
In a statement issued Friday, he said: "After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours. This afternoon, the President graciously accepted my resignation."

Am so glad of that because it part of the bush/cheney croonies due to as a war monger and abusing the CIA for their own advantage as profiteering the companies they are attach to and leaving no paper trail on contract soldiers killers and creating diversion to keep the war going and created damage on a false airline crash into the pentagon building to destroyed files of paper trails and the CIA should be rid of all those link to the zionist party and the old bush/cheney gang

It's a cover story that no one will be able to question. He'll be ale to say it is a personal private matter. He's obviously fed up with the whole Benghazi situation. Hopefully this will now free him up to testify in front of Congress and tell the whole story.
He has done a lot of great work for America and whatever his reasons for resignation are his own.
If it is because of an extra marital affair , that is between his wife and him , should it be because of conflicts in his duties and recent events , only then we deserve to hear more.

You guys with your Benghazi conspiracy theories! A CIA agent, not to mention the Director, cannot hold a security position after an affair. That is something that compromises you and puts you in a position to be blackmailed, hence, you can't be trusted with your nation's secrets.
How about learning a little about your country and your government. It will make you less crazed.

Yes they would. MI6, Mossad, ISI in Pakistan...wherever. Having an exrtamarital affair is anathema to intelligence service members keeping themselves out of situations that would make themselves vulnerable to blackmail and ANY member in ANY inetlligence service worldwide would be booted to the curb for it. This isn't rocket science.
The truth is generally stranger than the fiction.
